"What's your theory about this miss? You seem to have a lot in your mind."
I stopped as I turn my head around to him. He has his arm crossed across his chest, looking at me with bemusement.
My eyes lingered unto the dead body, then back to his amber eyes— immensely staring into me as if he could read my entire being, my soul even.
I laughed awkwardly as I replied to him. "Oh, you must be mistaken, I. . . I don't have interest in this kind of thing, you might've misread me." I lied, obviously, no one else was hungry for answer except for me.
But I don't think I'd be any of help if I were to linger around the case and help them investigate. Rather, I feel like I'd only be a bother to them, an extra baggage, kind of.
"Really? No thoughts? Nothing at all, even just teensy-weensy idea?" Persistent as he was, I just shook my head everytime. Elios nodded. "I see. . . "
He immediately turn his attention to the officers and asked about the forensic team. While I went out of the rather hot room.
Strange, I know it's hot within the hallway, but it was rather a lot hotter inside the room. Shouldn't it be more, like, cooler? Why is it so hot?
Once I stepped out, I saw Danica and the other three approaching. They seem to be done with the interrogation. Instead of approaching Danica, I immediately advance towards the girl. If I wasn't mistaken, she's the club president.
"Excuse me?" I said as I approached her, smiling. "Um, was there any heater that got turned on inside the club room?"
"Pardon? A heater on? In this hot weather?" She asked back confused by my question. I mean, yes, even I would be baffled about that. As I recall, it should be around 37 degrees as of now.
Who in their right mind would turn on a heater?
"A heater? There was a heater inside. I knew you have things in your mind." I jolted when I heard Elios beside me, I glance to my left to see him smirking at me. When did he got out of the room? "Hmm. . .now that I think about it, it's particularly hotter inside than here. A room like that should be colder, not hotter. Isn't that right miss?"
"Um, yes. . ." I answered bluntly.
Elios sighed, crossing his arms. "The windows and curtains were closed, which wouldn't make any sense as to why would that room is particularly giving a rather high temperature. And as far as I know, the door was closed."
"You three were the only members to be interrogated that were with the victim. I'd like to hear your explanations, but I'll probably just ask the police to hand over me the interrogation." Elios pointed to the club president and to the two boys, his gaze then panned to Danica. "How about you miss? You're not a member of the club are you?"
Everyone eventually looked at Danica who was with Anika. "Hey, are you implying she could be the murderer—"
"I wasn't asking you, don't butt in." Elios Interrupted Anika midway as he gave her a cold gaze. Anika was apparently pissed off, but before she could even spat another word, Danica stepped in.
She heaved a breath before answering, "I got a text from him, he told me to meet him at the theater club because he has something to talk about with me. But when I entered. . .he was already like that." Danica's voice cracked, as she wiped the tear that streamed down.
"It was strange, he just texted me a minute ago before I went into the room, but he was already lying in the ground, not moving— blood oozing from his body. . ."
Danica once again cried as Anika comforted her. Caressing her back. I gaze back to Elios who seem to be looking at his feet, deep in thoughts.
He then raised his head, then turned to me. Giving me his open palm, I gave him a baffled look as he mouthed "phone".
Elios dialed a number in my phone.
"Hello Dr. Hanari, I would like to know the victim' estimated time of death." Elios asked on the other line, every student in the hall was looking at him, anticipating the answer he will get. "Yes, I see. Thank you, will you be conducting an autopsy? Alright, I'll make sure to be there to observe. . . Of course, yes, good bye Dr."
Elios handed the phone back to me. "Hm. . . According to them, it's right between lunch, around 12, an hour from now. However, since the room temperature was high affecting the bpdy— there was a possibility the murder happened much earlier." He looked to the Danica and the other three, as he smiled. "I hope you four have a great excuse and alibi for this."
