After that night brother have been keeping a distance from me. I don't know why, but i can feel that.
Brother never talked to me after that and always avoided me whenever he's in the house. And in the weekends and other off days, he'll go out to meet with his friends and stay in their place to completely avoid meeting me.
"Why is brother still not coming back, and specifically today?" while he was thinking about this, a knock on the door snapped him back to reality.
"My child, are you in there?" a middle aged women's warm voice came from outside the door.
"Oh! Aunty, yes am here, am coming", quickly he opened the door to only notice that the middle aged women was standing there with a small cake in her hand alongside with a man who look's like he's in his fifties.
"Happy birthday my boy" they both wished him together with a warm smile. This made him stunned for a moment and soon tears gathered in his eye's. The couple suddenly comforted him with words full of love and warmth, he calmed down and they went to cut the cake.
After the cake cutting, the couple and the boy started to dine together.
"My child, here is a small birthday gift from both of us" with a wide smile the couple extended a box wrapped in colorful papers. The boy slowly took the present from them with a slight hesitant smile.
"Open it and take a good look at it, if you don't like it we can buy a new one" the middle aged man said to the boy with a wide smile.
"Ah... No,No need for that uncle. I like it"
"My child, you haven't even open the box yet, then how can you say that. Go on, open the box and take a good look at it" she urged him to open it.
Slowly, the boy opened the box and found himself shocked.
"Th... This is... It's the expensive branded shoe's that brother have!"
