Why does he keep looking at me? Thought her.
It has been exactly one month since she started to work at one of the biggest company in the world. She had heard before that the ceo is not friendly people on the earth. So why does he looking at her every minute when the other staff are busy discussing about new project in the meeting room?
“Hey, Kate. Are you alright? You looked like you have seen a ghost” said her best mate, Shiloh. She was sitting next to her in the meeting room.
“I don’t have any idea. I think I am too tired to handle all of this thing” lied Kate. She wasn’t going to tell her friend about her not so new discovery about their most feared ceo’s antics.
Shiloh just cocked her eyebrows. She knows Kate very well to notice when she was lying to her. Well, she was not going to force her or something but at the end of the meeting, she will definitely pull her aside and ask about whatever has bothering her.
The meeting was ended 2 hours after that. When Kate made a move to exit the meeting room as fast as she could, someone called her name and it was not Shiloh.
“Miss Durden”
Oh god, what has she got herself into? Slowly, she turned around and found her boss was looking intently at her.
“Yes, Mr Kyle?”
If Trenton Kyle was being honest with himself, he found himself growing attach to the beautiful girl in front of him right now. But of course he will never let her know his secret.
“I wish to meet you in my office. Now” with that, Trenton made himself out from the room with a smirk on his face.
Kate gasped in horror. Tell her, who would in their mind wants to meet the ceo himself in person? The only person that brave enough to meet him is his only personal assistant, Maya and she always end up crying herself a river whenever he done talking with her. And that’s only for 5 minutes.
She could tell that Shiloh was laughing openly at her right now because she heard her tried to contain herself from laughing out loud.
“Stop it, Shiloh. You knew that I don’t like it!” Snapped Kate in anguish.
“Oh come on, Kate. Where’s the fun?” Kate swear that if Shiloh does not stop from making fun of her, she will poison her meal with a good spoon of dog food.
Without wasting any time, Kate made her way towards Trenton’s room. Her arrival was sent by scary looks from her colleagues.
Some of them mouthed, ‘Stay strong’ while the others only nodded their head to give some support including Maya who was now openly praying for her safety.
She took a deep breath before knocking.
“Enter”
A cold voice can be heard from outside.
As soon as she entered the room, she was greeted by a sight that made her wanted to jump.
There he was, her boss doing some push up on the ground before acknowledged her.
“I am sick for waiting your arrival. You are late. I’ve been doing this push up for 100 times before you came knocking at my door without any guilt left in you”
That’s it. She will be a meat. God, save me.
“Forgive me for my tardiness, Mr. Kyle” told her honestly. She dared not to meet his eyes because right now, Trenton was busy clean all of the trace of sweat on his face.
“You better have a good damn reason for me not to fire you, woman”
The look that Trenton was giving her was sending her to death. When black piercing eyes met hers she has no option then looked at something else. Oh, please!
“Look at me” How can his voice be so cold yet so demanding?
Kate slowly meeting her eyes with his and in a quiet voice says,
“I was talking to Shiloh when I lost track of time. Forgive me, Mr. Kyle. I promise it will never happen again next time”
“You better watch your tongue next time, girl cause I am a man who appreciate his time. Do not lie to me” he spats those words to her.
“Yes, sir”
“Good”
But then, Kate had no idea as why she had been asked to meet him at first place. Not that she is an important worker anyways. She just working under Mr. Williams who is currently under Trenton Kyle.
She has no business at all with him.
“Sir? Why do you want to meet me?, I mean no offence but if I have anything to be concerned with, I would refer to Mr. Williams. Forgive me” That’s it. It’s now or never.
Trenton cocked his eyebrow.
“Do you feel the need to ask that kind of question, Miss Durden? Am I not your big boss?”
She felt that she just being slapped on the face. Of course, he is indeed her big boss!
“As to why you are being asked to meet ME in the person is because I wanted to offer you a new job. A really good one that you will find yourself cannot resist it” that evil smirk appeared again on his face.
What job, exactly? Surely this man knew his workers that can do better than her in this company? Why her though?
“What job, sir?” She wanted to know first before consider it.
Kate cannot believe it when Trenton started to pull off his tie and begun to undone his three upper button on his t-shirt. It was not making their situation easier.
“All I can say is this job is quite personal and has nothing to do with the company. But the salary quite tempting” purred him.
Kate doesn’t like where this conversation went to. What does he want?
“What job, sir? Tell me so I can consider it”
Kate cursed herself when she realized how deseprate she had sounded.
Trenton marely gave her one lf his infamous smirk and says,
“Accept my offer and be my ‘personal’ assistant”
Kate gasped loudly. How bad it must sounded because Trenton sneered at her.
“What? It’s not like I was offering you to be my sugar baby or whatsoever!”
This time really made Kate blurted everything out.
“But Maya is your assistant! How could you replace her with me?”
Trenton gave her one of his dirty look. Why does this man always make her feel like a dunderhead?
“Maya will be my personal assistant, yes. And I don’t have a need to replace her, not for awhile. What I asked you to be is my ‘personal assistant’ for my private life. Be my bodyguard as they put it”
This man is mental. Kate felt like the world is spinning and her head wanted to burst at that time.
“So, is it yes or no?”
Trenton watched in horror when Kate collapsed in her seat.
