Tahajjud was made farḍ at the very beginning for the early Muslims. They were commanded to spend the greater part of every night in prayer. This is because tahajjud is one of the most effective methods to nurture and strengthen one’s īmān.
As these pioneers among the Companions were being prepared for a difficult mission, it was vital that their hearts had to be primed to receive guidance and their īmān was strengthened through tahajjud.
