I grew up with rules,
Strict and unyielding,
Praised for following,
I followed to a fault.
You came crashing in,
Ignoring every rule,
You asked,
"What good are rules?"
They are everything!
Rules keep the peace,
They give order and direction,
How can you live without rules?
I followed the rules,
What good did that do?
I couldn't save you,
All because of rules.
Those very same rules,
The one I cherished,
Damned you,
Who was the most kind and loving.
Now I wonder,
If rules are good,
Maybe some are,
Maybe are not.
I will make the call.
