In the third grade, I was very bad at math and always got the lowest score at math in my class, so I started avoiding math, sleeping in math class and defying my math teacher. Identified me as a poor student, but I am very good at languages. I always get perfect scores and I'm very active in the language class.
The math teacher talked to my parents and suggested that they find a math tutor for me, which they did. I drove the tutor away at the end, and the tutor said,"There's no way to teach this child. He doesn't want to Learn at all, so I don't have to teach him." My parents was so frustrated that they let me do whati wanted.
But this situation changed when I met my new classmate Xiaorong who set opposite me. Xiaorong was very good at maths, but very bad at language. I saw the new pencil sharpener on Xiaorong desk and played with it. As soon as I touch it I was stop by Xiaorong. Xiaorong said "If you listen carefully to maths class, I'll let you play with it." In order to play with the penknife, I had to listen to the maths lesson. At first, I was very confused and didn't understand anything, so I asked Xiaorong for advice and raised his hand to answer the teacher's questions.
After that class, chasing after Xiaorong to ask questions, I saw the light finally. He thinks "No wonder I didn'tunderstand any of it before, I was thinking in the wrong direction". In the next math class, I was very active and even went to answer the questions on the whiteboard. Both the students and the teacher were amazed.
I played with the new spiral pencil sharpener in his hand and proudly said to Xiaorong, "Math is quite simple, I'm not afraidof math anymore."
Growth notes
I overcome my fear of math with the help of Xiaorong, and gradually got better at math. Learning math itself is not scary; it's just that you don't find the right way to approach it.
