My Obsessive Hubby Is A Prince
Chapter 1 - A Single Princess
Why do most good things come at the expense of others?
If you want to expand your country, there will always be lives lost in the war.
If you want more food, you are taking the chance for someone else to be full.
This world is full with consequences and actions. It's down to luck whether you create those consequences or suffer because of them.
I was born in the top 0.01% of the country as the second Princess of a burgeoning kingdom called Fyora.
In the eyes of the public and unfortunately in the eyes of my father, I am seen as the one closest to the people.
While I am the most liked royal out of my whole family, I was the black sheep between them.
I don't believe in war, or sacrifice, or even pain.
But the one thing that I do believe in is consequence.
My father broke me out of my daydreaming state, my eyes turning right towards him.
I've never respected him as a man, much less a monarch. All he believes in is sacrifice.
As today is his 56th birthday, the whole capital has gathered to honour it in the most "Redgrave" way possible: putting foreign slaves to death in an arena.
I find it disgusting; in fact, I find it revolting.
Nya Redgrave
What is it, Father?
King Redgrave
You don't seem pleased with today's festivities.
He knows that I hate it. Forcing me to attend, dressed all regal... I wanted to punch him in the face.
Nya Redgrave
Shall I pretend to enjoy it? Perhaps I'll bet on a warrior like my brothers have.
My father showed his disapproval with the way I spoke to him.
King Redgrave
You've become increasingly unbearable lately, Ananya.
I hated that name. Ananya... I much preferred to be called the nickname my mother used to call me, Nya.
Nya Redgrave
Have I? I guess that I've finally broken into that stage of adolescence.
He slammed his fist against his throne, making my whole family, including my step-mother, turn towards me.
King Redgrave
You will smile, you will laugh, you will gasp, and you will cry. But I won't have you judging me, is that clear?
I'm doing more than judge you, Father. I'm cursing you for finding amusement out of this.
The trumpet then sounded and his eyes found the arena, like a dog who hadn't seen food in weeks.
King Redgrave
It's starting!
I clenched my fists as I watched the men fight and get brutally hurt, and even murdered.
Slaves from war with our two neighbouring countries, forced to fight to have a slim chance of survival.
I was offered food and drink but refused. How could I stomach anything after witnessing such horror?
Then, my attention suddenly found the very last man to go up against the current champion.
His skin looked tanned from the desert and even from a distance, I could see his shining amber eyes that reminded me of one of a panthers.
And immediately, I could see that he looked just like me.
Trapped in our own different situations... but we'd always fight against it.

Chapter 2 - The Warrior
His aura drew me in and for a moment, I thought that we made eye contact.
His black hair, his amber eyes... everything indicated that he came from Soulair.
Nya Redgrave
Why is someone from Soulair fighting in your arena?
Anger rose up inside of me. My blood boiled while I clenched my fists, snarling.
King Redgrave
Oh, he does appears to be from that degrading place.
Nya Redgrave
You and I both know that this could warrent a war, Father.
Nya Redgrave
Soulair won't abide having one of their people as a slave in one of our arenas.
Nya Redgrave
Even if he does survive-
King Redgrave
You will shut up before I have you grounded, understood?
He's enjoying this... he wants war. That is his whole goal.
Yet again... doing an action without thinking of the consequences.
I clasped my hands together, looking right down at the arena.
The Soulair man fought bravely, with grace and poise.
His duel-wielding swordsmanship was impressive. Even if I were to imitate him, I'd be nowhere near the real thing.
He put up a great fight and ended up defeating out best warrior in the arena.
The crowd seemed to be amused, but my father was anything but.
The slaves are supposed to be starved and weakened sometimes with poison.
They aren't supposed to win. They're supposed to lose.
The lifeless corpse of the man laid on the ground for everyone to see.
The crowd did not cheer, or taunt, or boo.
They simply sat there in silence while my father snarled, putting out his hand.
King Redgrave
Execute him.
Nya Redgrave
He won. According to the rules-
King Redgrave
I make the rules, don't you get that?
King Redgrave
I say to kill him, so he will be killed.
When I saw the executioner walk out, a huge axe in hand, my eyes went wide.
As he approached the weakened man, who held up his blades high, ready to fight, I had enough.
If that man gets killed, there is no way that a war can be avoided.
My father doesn't know this, but there is a reason why Soulair has lasted this long.
Their warriors are worth 20 of ours. Their economy might not be as good as ours, but their people are loyal to the royal family as they aren't greedy and share with their people.
They have respect... we have fear.
The man could barely stand anymore. However, he didn't seem like he was going to give up the fight.
He's exactly what I need on my journey.
Taking a glowing orb out of my pocket and throwing it to the floor just as the executioner lifted up his axe, I teleported right above the man and kicked the executioner right in the cheek, making him tumble to the floor.
Geez, why am I like this? I just wasted a teleportation orb for this?
He might not even want to follow me... but if he does, I'll make sure that he is given his freedom either way.
I turned towards him and put out my hand.
Nya Redgrave
Do you want your freedom?
Nya Redgrave
If you do, take my hand.
He looked up at me, confused.
His eyes seemed like he was going to faint any second.
His wrist was thin and he seemed underfed and weak.
However, he still had that special strength in his eyes. One that I couldn't just leave.
He looked up at me, hesitant. It's only normal that he wouldn't trust me. I am, after all, the second Princess of the country that wants him dead now.
Nya Redgrave
I mean you no harm.
I smiled, extending my hand out one more time.
He then snarled and took it as I smiled.
Taking another orb from my pocket and smashing it against the floor, we both disappeared in a glow of light.
The crowd was confused, and so was the King.
He then turned and saw a piece of paper where I was sitting seconds ago.
On it was written three words that made the King's fists clench.

Chapter 3 - The Kind Girl
When I opened my eyes, I smiled when I found myself in the middle of a field on the outskirts of town.
I closed my eyes and took in the fresh air.
Nya Redgrave
This is the life... never once did the air feel as fresh as it did in the palace!
I could see the city from here. So far away, so far out of reach.
I've left and there is no going back.
I then looked down at the man that I had saved and smiled.
Nya Redgrave
I'm sorry about that. I should have explained to you where we were going.
He didn't say a word. He just sat on the floor, looking right at me.
Nya Redgrave
Oh, can you not understand me?
I then switched to Soulair.
Nya Redgrave
"What about now? How are you feeling?"
Keon Souliar
I can speak Fyorian.
Nya Redgrave
Oh. Well, that makes things easier. I only took a crash course in Soulair, so I'm quite rusty on some words.
Nya Redgrave
But I'm glad that you can talk. For a second, I thought that you were-
He then grabbed me and pulled me down into the grass, placing one of his blades at my neck.
The sound of the wind blowing past each blade of grass made such a beautiful sound, which distracted me from the fact that he had a sword at my throat.
I remained calm, my gaze finding his beautiful amber eyes.
He was on top of me, pinning me down. Despite the fact that he was malnourished and weak, he could still overpower me with his aura alone.
Keon Souliar
Why did you save me?
I could say that his death would cause a war but I need him to stay with me for a bit longer.
My Father's guard have the best trackers and if he were to go off by himself, without money or direction to go to, he will once again be caught.
Nya Redgrave
As you see, my Father, the King, is a crook. I no longer want to be his slave, so I'm leaving the palace.
Nya Redgrave
I need an escort, someone strong.
Nya Redgrave
Someone like you.
He looked at me, his hand tightly gripped around his sword handle.
Nya Redgrave
You're strong and... well... your eyes remind me of someone I once knew. Strong and unfaltering.
Keon Souliar
My eye colour is a terrible excuse for-
Nya Redgrave
Who said that I was talking about their colour?
He became so defensive when I mentioned their colour.
Nya Redgrave
I meant their glint.
Nya Redgrave
You're a warrior, and perfect for the job! What do you say?
Nya Redgrave
You'll get a meal and a warm place to sleep every night. And I'll give you money so that when you have enough to leave to travel to whenever you come from, I won't stop you.
He looked at me, sceptic.
Nya Redgrave
Ask anyone in this country. I'm nothing like my family.
Nya Redgrave
So, could you kindly remove your blade? I quite like my neck.
Keon Souliar
You... don't want me to become your slave?
Nya Redgrave
What? Of course not. I just freed you from being one. I have no need of a slave and never supported slavery to begin with.
Nya Redgrave
Let's just say... you'll be in my employ for now?
Nya Redgrave
Let's look after each other now, because we're both fugitives!
I shot him a beautiful smile which made his eyes falter a little.
He then slowly retracted his blade and I grinned, slipping my arm under his and flipping him over, me landing on top of him.
Nya Redgrave
It feels good, being on top! I hold all the power, haha!
While I chuckled at myself and the world, I didn't realise the man's flushed cheeks underneath me... and his growing bulge behind me.
