The Treasures Of The Sea.
The beginning.
Sean, a student at the university of archeology from Arizona.
Ciselle, his twin sister, also a student at the same university.
Neon, his classmate and closest friend.
Jeanne, a sea pirate. The owner of a huge pirate ship.
Sean, Ciselle and Neon were taking their breakfast in a small place near the university campus, a place usually frequented by strange people.
In that day, some street vendors pass through that area and stop in that place. Unintentionally, our students hear the strange conversation between two of these travelers.
They were speaking about some kind of treasures under the water and that the sea pirates desperately sail the waters to find them.
Traveler
Have you heard about that rumour?
Traveler
It's not just a rumour! It may actually be real! Think about, the pirates wouldn't be so crazy to find some old ruins for nothing. I am sure that is all real.
Traveler
Well, maybe, who knows! Either way I don't want to run into a pirate ship while I am travelling on water. They have become more numerous these days.
Traveler
You're right about that! God bless us not to meet them, especially the FALCON.
Traveler
Yes, especially the FALCON! I have heard that the captain is a bloody and terrifying person that could scare even a ghost.
Traveler
Ahhh....let's not speak about ugly things! It will give me nightmares this night.
Traveler
Ok,ok....I'll stop telling you!
Now eat your breakfast, we must leave soon!
All this time, Sean was discreetly monitoring the two street vendors but Ciselle notices her brother strange behaviour.

Ciselle
It's just a rumour! Finish your meal fast! The classes are starting soon.
Sean
Ciselle, it can't be just a false rumour if so many people are searching for them.
Ciselle

Hello, good people! I just overheard your conversation a while ago and I think that is pretty interesting. I mean, your story about these treasures under the water. Can you please tell me more? You see, we're a team of young archeologists and we're interested in this kind of stuff.

A legend says that before this human civilisation took a form, there were also other civilisations hidden in unreachable places from our planet. One of these kind of places was "Mermania", a kingdom under water.

Have you ever heard of mermaids or sirens?
Sean
Yes, everyone knows what is a mermaid and what she does for a living but is also known that they disappeared a long time ago.
Traveler
Yes, they have disappeared. Hunted down by people. Because they were seen as monsters who were eating human hearts but no one knew from where they appeared in the waters. A siren was half human, half fish. They could live at the surface of the water but not for a long time and they couldn't walk because of their tails.
Neon
I know...
They are creatures who enchant the sailors with their astonishing voices and eat their flesh. The sailor's terror!
Traveler
Exactly! You're made your homework little guy! But have you ever asked yourself where they were coming from? No! I am sure you didn't.
Traveler
Well, let me continue...
It seems that long before the sirens came to the surface to hunt people, they were living in their own world, under water. Across the ocean, under the vast water cover was their reign. "Mermania", ruled by a king and well hidden from other eyes.
Traveler
"Mermania" the kingdom of water. They were feeding themselves with algae and other acvatic microorganisms and fruits, until the races from the surface started to sail the waters and ruin their natural habitat and peace.They starved, got sick and died. This is how their reign under the water ended.Then, the ones still alive started to hunt humans.
Sean
It's quite an interesting story but do you know where can we find this place?
Neon
Yes, where is located?
Traveler
No one knows where exactly was located this palace but another story says that some sailors have found,a couple of years ago, strange objects and pieces of walls under the water on the west coast. West of these cities, on the western coast of the continent.
Sean

Neon

Traveler
Do you intend to search for "Mermania"?
Traveler
My dear friends, I advise you to give up this idea. Nowadays those waters are crossed by pirates. Haven't you heard the news about the last commercial ship smuggled by them?
Traveler

Our three students finish their breakfast and return to the university to attend their classes.
For their surprise, the new lecturer that was temporarily replacing their old mentor starts the lecture with a strange affirmation: "Do you believe in fairytales?"
All the students start to get agitated, asking themselves all sorts of questions one more bizarre than the other.
Voice: Mr. Shan, what do you mean by that? We're grown ups now, no one believes in them anymore!

When the civilisations from the surface started to prosper, this one began to collapse. Even though the inhabitants were intelligent creatures who had their own alphabet and customs, in the eyes of the people from above the water they were just monsters.
