Long long ago in a kingdom called Tori lived a Queen who ruled the kingdom. Tori was a prosperous kingdom and enjoyed peace because neighboring kingdoms feared the huge army of Tori. However, Tori was a kingdom ruled by a woman, unlike other kingdoms.
Men had to serve women, and ladies with wealth and honor could choose their husbands. Women were in charge of protecting their kids, husbands and families by serving in the army. Those women who were not in the Royal army had to study or practice politics. So, women were the breadwinners and men depended on women for their living, making women's status higher than men's for they headed every field.
The kingdom of Tori had only one rightful heir to the Throne, Princess Ellen for being the only daughter of the king and Queen. Princess Ellen was a carefree person but also highly talented in every field. Princess Ellen led the army to victory several times and had the trust of many officials. She was a promising Princess who fitted her role that is, 'the Crown Princess'.
Unbeknown to everyone Princess Ellen had a hidden personality deep inside her and she loved to go exploring for adventures. Princess Ellen often sneaked out of the palace in ordinary clothes and not in her royal robes. She was typically carefree and of benevolent nature. She had fellow trusted Generals whom she placed her trust on, as sisters would .
One fateful day, Princess Ellen was bored after studying War tactics the whole day therefore she decided to go out of the palace for fun. She went to the Palace gate but was not allowed to go out as it was the Queen's order that the Crown Princess should not be allowed to go out of the palace without her permission. Princess Ellen returned to her Chamber disappointed but did not give up the idea of going out.
Princess Ellen had lunch brought to her Royal Chamber, she shared her lunch with her personal maid who was as close as a real sister. Princess Ellen treated everyone with respect and was a kind hearted Princess.Yet for those who had hurt her beloved ones or betrayed her she would cold- heartedly trample on them.
Princess Ellen practiced her sword moves with great agility, speed and royal demeanor. After having diligently practiced her sword tactics she went to her Chamber changed her Royal robes into ordinary clothing and sneaked out of the Palace by jumping down the Palace Wall.
Princess Ellen went happily out of the palace and went towards the bookstore, there she searched for romance novels of which she had been a great fan of. As she was searching for her novels she saw a figure dazzling outside the window. It was a man in a graceful dress selling flowers. Princess Ellen saw him and fell for him at first sight. As she was dazed out looking at his figure she suddenly came to her senses that he had already gone.
Princess Ellen ran out to the streets only to see his dazzling figure dissappear amidst the crowd....
Princess Ellen came back to her chambers by jumping over the palace walls and then as she reached her royal Chambers she saw her personal maid pacing up and down .... As soon as she saw the Princess she exclaimed "Your highness, where have you been?" I've been searching for you everywhere...I was so worried her majesty would find out that you had gone out of the Palace again.."..Princess Ellen replied, "Eeh it's okay, I've not let anyone seen me gone out of the palace..and even if they saw they'll never be able to recognize me..Haha..(she giggles). "Princess we should still be careful, what if by chance we get caught by her majesty..then I'll be dead."..Okay okay I know what you're worried about don't mind I'll never get caught .." Princess Ellen '.
As they continued with their endless chat Liza, (Princess Ellen’s personal maid's name)enquired "But Princess during the day where did you go to? " Princess Ellen smiled and said it was a secret..After a while Princess Ellen had her dinner served and she finally went to her cosy bed to rest for the night.
Meanwhile, Avery was scared of her mother so he decided to skip dinner and went quietly to his room but was spotted by his mother who called him back for the usual family dinner (a custom which was compulsory to be followed by unmarried men). Avery came near his mother and directly apologized for being home late. His mother was furious for his misbehavior but decided to forgive him because it was his first time being home late but she also rebuked him for trying to skip family dinner which was an unacceptable manner from an unmarried man unless he was engaged to a woman and had to serve his fiance.
As Avery had his dinner he went to his room slowly and began thinking about how good it would have been if he had been engaged to someone or someone proposed him. While the other side, Princess Ellen was busy with her thoughts of seeing Avery back in the day. (Avery was the man Princess Ellen saw back in the day selling flowers).'Who was he?' she thought he was so pretty, delicate- looking with gentle features which made her fall for him 'head over heels'.
The next day, Princess Ellen went out early in the morning to see her guy(Avery). She searched over the whole place where she saw him yesterday but couldn't find him as she gave up looking for him she went in search of food and ate to her heart's content. She went to the bookstore, read her favorite books the whole day and when it was time to go back to the Palace she walked aimlessly towards the Palace that's when someone caught her eyes.....
Princess Ellen saw Avery selling flowers nearby the Palace she realized she had not been able to find him the whole day because he had been there the whole day..Princess Ellen walked up to him and asked how much he selled his flowers for and as Avery was trying to reply, Princess Ellen suddenly interrupted him and said "Give me all your flowers I want it all and she gave him all the money she carried with her which was much more than the cost of the flowers".
Avery refused to take all the money trying to take only the right amount however Princess Ellen told him she would ask him a very important question and if he answered the question she would give him all the money. Then she asked him what his name was and where he was from he replied that his name was 'Avery' and that he was a local person. Princess Ellen went away hastily saying "you have a good name, let's leave up to our luck to meet each other again than I'll tell you my name too" saying this Princess Ellen was gone......
Leaving Avery confused...
It was a full moon night, the Princess walked around the night market but nothing amused her so she went towards the bridge. As Princess Ellen looked towards the bridge she saw a tall and slender looking figure. She walked towards the person on the bridge only to realize it was none other than Avery himself. The Princess greeted Avery and he greeted back. They began to talk about their hobbies, what they like and dislike, they chatted for so long that they forgot it was already midnight. Princess Ellen's guards came to remind her of the time only then they realized it was already so late.
Princess Ellen decided to go back to the palace and was in a hurry to run back, when Avery called out to her and asked her what her name was for he didn't have the chance to to know her name yet. Princess Ellen shouted I'm Ellen...call me Ellen. Avery was so happy to know Ellen's name and he also turned for his way home .
When Avery reached home all his family members were asleep, saving him the trouble from being scolded for coming home late. But, when he entered his room his father was quietly waiting for him. Avery was surprised to see his father, for it was already so late. Avery's father had waited for him so long and he was so pleased to see him back home .
Avery's father advised him not to forget that he was a man being which, it was not safe for him to be out so late at night. Avery shared to his father about Ellen, to which his father replied don't trust women they're all bitches who only look at a man's looks and are not reliable at all. Besides, man have no choice in choosing their wife, the women have the right to choose men and that having many husbands defines a woman's wealth.
Avery was disappointed to be reminded of these truths, he knew the rules and restrictions of being a man, they had to follow so many etiquette, dress codes, put on makeup and follow their parents wish to marry for the family's benefit. If a wealthy or powerful woman choose a man it is his fortune that he can live his life serving his wife. However if a man behaves like a woman wanting his freedom, he is doomed for life, no woman would marry a man without manners and discipline.
Avery despite knowing all these he still wanted to be free and do what he wants to do, marry whom he want and be given the same freedom as a woman..Thinking all this he fell asleep. Princess Ellen on the other side was so happy that she met Avery again and decided to meet him again the next day. With this in mind she began planning how to get out of the palace without being caught by the Queen, her mother. Ellen, thinking about her wishful meeting with Avery fell asleep.
Princess Ellen had a great plan in mind suddenly....
