A child was crying in a corner, holding a stuffed toy. Her mother was tied up to a chair and blindfolded.

"P-please don't h-hurt her!.."

"I'm truly sorry dear child."

I closed my eyes and slit the throat of the poor woman. I couldn't help but wonder but she had done to deserve this fate. But, I must do as I'm told.. no questions asked. I walked towards the child and picked her up. She screamed.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." I said in a whisper. She held her stuffed toy tightly and cried silently. I took out a piece of technology from my pockets. What was this called again? Hm.. I suppose it doesn't matter as long as it works. It was an experimental mind eraser that HQ has been developing for years. I waved it in front of the girl and she fell asleep. As I put her down, I broke the piece of technology. Something like this shouldn't exist. I cleaned up the mess and I reported back to the leader.

For those of you that didn't know, my name is Kento Ri. I have white hair, dark red eyes and I'm currently 27 years old. I am an elite assassin and come from one of the more "poor" areas of planet Niburu. But, I didn't become like this because I wanted too.. No, that wasn't the case at all. When I was 15, my parents suddenly fell ill and there was nothing I could do to help. At the time, hospitals refused to give them medical treatment unless you were part of a wealthy family. A week later, people dressed in cloaks cornered me on my way back home from school. They promised to save my parents if I worked for them. I believed it.. but it was just a lie.. They brought me to an underground building faraway from the city and put a tracker on me, that way if I ever try to run or quit, they would find me.. and kill me. I have never been allowed to live my own life. I must kill who they want me to kill, go where they want me to go, and do as they say, no questions ask. Sometimes I wish I could just escape this life and never return.

Anyways, back to the story.

I cleaned up and destroyed everything that could be used to find me, and within minutes, the police had shown up. I quickly left the scene and walked into a crowd of people on the streets when suddenly, my phone rang.

Who could be calling this late at night?

(Unknown caller)

"Who is this?" I asked quietly.

"Kento Ri. Long time no see. How are you doing these days?"

The voice was familiar. It was the leader.

"Cut the crap! What do you want!"

"Don't be too loud now, you might get yourself killed."

I looked around and remembered there were other people here.

The leader laughed and continued to speak.

"I have a new mission for you. But I can't tell you over the phone. It's too dangerous. Meet me at the stone lake in an hour. Make sure you are not followed."

I left the crowd of people and made my way out of the city. I put my cloak over my head and walked faster, trying not to be late, but looking back every few minutes to make sure no one was following me. As I neared the lake, I heard someone speak.

"Your partner is late Akio."

Akio? As in the son of the leader!? From what I heard, he is a stuck up brat that thinks highly of himself, and would kill anyone that got in the way of what he wanted.

"Then why don't I just do it myself?!"

I walked towards them.

"Who is this" I asked, pretending to not know anything.

"This is your new partner. Akio. He will be helping you with this mission as it is too difficult to handle alone. Akio, this is Kento Ri, he is one of the best assassins we have. You will listen to everything he says. Alright?"

Akio stayed silent but nodded.

I sighed and looked at Akio. He had deep blue eyes and a dark shade of brown hair. He was taller than me but looked almost harmless.

I didn't really want to work with anyone. Especially when that "anyone" is Akio.

I faced the leader and bowed.

"What can we do for you, your majesty?" I said sarcastically.

"Don't act like such a child. But about the mission.. you and Akio must kill prince Hiroto before the eclipse three months from now."

"That's impossible! The chances of getting caught or killed is over 70%! Your asking us to give up our lives!"

The leader didn't say a word and instead, he turned around and vanished.

"That bastard.."

I felt a stinging pain on my cheek. Akio.. slapped me!?

"Don't be such a wimp! You heard him, kill the prince, so what. Not a big deal. Also, don't call him a bastard you imbicil, you will get us in trouble!"

I growled and knocked him down. I grabbed his hand and snapped it back. Akio howled in pain and looked at me with eyes full of bloodlust.

"Next time, think twice before you touch me."

I got up and looked at him.

"Get up. We have three months and I honestly don't think I could deal with you for that long.. so please keep your hands off me and keep your stupid mouth shut if you want to keep your life."

I sat down at the edge of the lake and watched the sunset. This would probably be the last time I ever get to enjoy one. But nevertheless, It was still beautiful and full of color. I could see stars appearing, along with the two moons. I forgot about everything I have done, and the mission that I must complete. That is, until the annoying voice spoke again.

"Why are you just sitting there? We have a mission to complete." Akio said and pushed me into the water. It was freezing cold. I swimmed to the surfaced and heard him laughing maniacally. It seemed as though he wanted me to drown.

"Stop being so loud." I said to Akio.

I walked away from the lake, Akio trailing not far behind. I headed in the direction of Nabu, where the prince was believed to be. We were now in a forest. The ground was covered in a thick sheet of snow. Trees had icicles hanging down from their branches and the sky was dark , covered in clouds. My clothes were soaked in ice cold water, it was below freezing outside, and now, the wind had started to increase. Atleast Akio wasn't talking yet.

10 minutes passed.

"Do you have a plan?"

Well.. that was short lived. I barely had enough energy to continue forward, let alone speak. But I forced myself to anyways.

"Well, he is always surrounded by guards, it will be difficult to even get near him. If we want to succeed then we need to be extra cautious. One of us will have to disguise as a guard for the time being and collect information. The other, will need to get close to Hiroto in order to kill him."

"That's not much of a plan.. but I'll be the guard." Akio had said.

An hour had passed and Akio was now talking loudly and throwing rocks.

"Shut the hell up." The wind was stronger now.

"Why don't you make me huh?"

We were nearly out of the forest. Soon I will be able to get rid of him.. but not soon enough. His presence angers me. He wouldn't stop talking, it's as if he was trying to get me mad.

I grabbed his hair and threw him to the floor, covering his mouth with tape.

"Now, without speaking, find some guard and steal his uniform and his identity. Do not reveal yourself, and do not get caught!"

We walked out of a forest and parted ways. I quickly changed my appearance. My hair was now black and my eyes a deep purple. I walked towards a park and layed down. I curled up into a ball and shivered, tears in my eyes. My ears were stinging from the cold, my hands were numb, and I didn't even have enough energy to move.. I feel so pathetic. I had so many "what ifs" in my head, but atleast they were distracting me from the cold. I nearly passed out when I heard a deep, soft voice speak.

"What are you doing out here in the cold? You could freeze."

I layed still and shivered, tears running down my face. My whole body stung. I tried to speak but I didn't make any sound. I could do nothing more than look at him. He was tall and had greyish brown hair and was wearing white clothing. I saw him take off his jacket and wrap it around me.. but it didn't help much, it was still cold.. The stranger picked me up and started walking towards a huge building. After a minute, my breathing slowed down and my vision went blurred.
