Neighbors

Neighbors: Part 1

"What the **** do you think you're doing?"

Y/N looked back from where she sat on her bedroom floor. There, in the doorway, stood her father. In his left hand was an empty beer bottle and he used his other hand to help prop himself up against her doorway. His face had a green tint to it and he smelled of smoke and alcohol.

On the floor in front of Y/N were pictures of her neighbor and his family that she'd taken from her window in the second story of her home.

She quickly jumped to her feet and threw a blanket over the photos of the boy with pitch black hair and his family. She quickly bowed, hands to her sides, "N-Nothing, Sir!" She started to sweat, knowing he was about to have another episode.

She could smell the booze from his skin; it seemed as if he had lathered in the perfume of alcohol for years.

"Bullshit," He yelled, grabbing Y/N by the arm, dropping the empty bottle of beer. It broke on the carpet floor, the smell taking over the room, "And what did I tell you to call me?" He then looked her right in the eyes as he gripped her throat.

"D-Daddy..." Y/N choked as he gripped her tightly, his thumbs squeezing in on the nape of her neck. Her voice cracked as she spoke; pain in her eyes.

Her father then threw her down to the floor, all over the shattered glass, "Slut.." He wiped his mouth and looked down at her, "No other man is to be in your life besides me, got it?" He spit on the ground of her bedroom floor as he yelled at his daughter.

Y/N started shaking, not able to speak. Glass was in her hands and her left forearm. She was bleeding and tears were escaping her eyes.

This was her father's second episode this month; and he'd usually have three. Y/N's mother had passed away three years ago and her father had strayed since that very day.

Ever since then, he became abusive and would never pay attention to anyone; especially when he was sober.

"Got it?!" He screamed and kicked Y/N right in her stomach, causing her insides to pop in pain.

Y/N grabbed her stomach and tried to sit up, "Y-Yes, Daddy.." She winced as she spoke, the glass stinging against her skin. The alcohol on the glass burned against the freshly made cuts.

She then looked up at her father, tears filling her eyes again.

"Get out." The man then grabbed her by the hair and started to drag her down the hallway. She didn't fight him or try to stop him; she had tried it before and had the scars to prove it.

He then went to the first floor and threw her out the front door.

Y/N hit the porch, only to be kicked off into the lawn. She coughed up a bit of blood and she wiped her mouth as she stood up in her thin, white dress that she had slept in.

She looked at her father, not knowing how to react. He had never kicked her out like this before.

He then slammed the door shut and Y/N heard it lock.

Y/N turned around as a hard breeze hit, sending chills all over her small figure. She immediately felt cold and the pain hit her all at once.

She looked at her forearm and her hands, pieces of shattered glass digging deep into her skin. Blood painted her arms and the front of her dress. She was barefoot.

She hugged herself as she sat on the curb in front of her house, crying to herself. She was too tired to pull out the glass or to do anything.

The pain hurt too much as the alcohol entered her skin, burning the cuts and welts. Her stomach constantly churned from where she was kicked and her head started to pound.

As she held herself in a ball, she heard a car park in the driveway next to her. She then heard it turn off and someone shutting and locking the door behind themselves.

She was too weak to look up and see who it was; or even to ask them for help.

"Kim Y/N, is that you?"

Y/N heard a man's voice that was deep and husky. However, it had a softness to it that was calming. She lifted her head, tear stains were all over her cheeks.

She then turned her head to see her neighbor. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. On his shirt was a nametag from where he worked as a manager at an estate tower.

Y/N then looked into his eyes and she tried to stop crying. However, seeing him made the tears fall even more. She bit her lip and looked down as the pain in her arms throbbed even more.

She felt him come close to her, "What happened to you? Did your father do this again?" The man had soft eyes and his vice was quiet.

He had never talked to her before. Especially after her father beat her. Everyone in the neighborhood knew what was happening but didn't bother with the matter.

They excused the man because he had lost his wife. They simply said it would get better.

Y/N raised her head, looking at the boy again. The best reason she could think of for him speaking to her was because she was bloody, sobbing, and out in the cold half-*****.

Y/N nodded, her head hurting her. She was still crying, just not as heavily. She started to hiccup occasionally, her body tried to get her to breathe better.

"Here, let me help you." The boy then gave her a soft smile, reaching his hand out to her.

Y/N looked at his white hands and felt hesitant after what her father had just done to her. She was scared of most men for what had all happened to her.

However, she slowly touched the boy's hand with her fingertips. It was warm and could easily engulf her entire hand.

The boy then helped her stand up and he supported her by holding onto her. He sighed as he saw he completely condition, "My step-brother works at the hospital but he is home now. Can I take you inside to him?" The boy spoke softly to Y/N, his voice was full of care.

Y/N nodded.

He gave her a bunny smile, "Here, may I?" He stopped as he was about to pick her up. She simply nodded again. The boy then picked her up bridal style, careful not to touch her arms or hands.

He carried her hurriedly, but made sure not to bump around too much. He opened and closed the front door, holding her.

Once he entered the house, he yelled, "Hoseok, I'm home!" His voice became deeper and much louder in Y/N's ears.

"I'm in the kitchen, Jungkook! Why are you home so early?" The step-brother's voice was nowhere near as deep but it had a caring tone to it. It was, yet again, soothing to listen to.

Jeon Jungkook.

Y/N's neighbor was Your Highness at her high school. Jungkook was a legend and could do anything the teachers or students gave him or put him up to.

Girl's chased him constantly and he had a wide circle of friends with few enemies. That was all the reasons why Y/N never spoke to him and kept to herself.

He had more important things to worry about and prettier girl's to be with.

Kim Y/N was merely Jeon Jungkook's neighbor, and nothing else.

Jungkook entered the kitchen, gripping Y/N in his arms, "I will answer that later. Can you help me?" Jungkook's voice was low and sounded to be in pain as he held the broken girl.

Right as Jung Hoseok turned around, he dropped the plate in his hands. He then came towards Jungkook, "Shit." His eyes were wide as he touched Y/N's forehead, "Take her to your room. I will be right there." The older brother then disappeared into a backroom.

Jungkook then started out the kitchen and up the stairs, "You'll be alright, Kim Y/N, I promise I will take care of you." He looked at her as he entered his room.

Y/N closed her eyes, pain flooding her.

Neighbors: Part 2

Y/N's eyes fluttered open slowly as a light crept in the room which she was in. She felt her head turn onto something plush and large.

She then propped herself up, seeing that she was lying in a large bed. She looked around to see a large feathered pillow with her head indention in it.

She then looked at her hands, noticing bandages were all the way up her left forearm. A glove with cut out fingers was made of bandages that were on both her hands.

They were mostly white, with a few red places. She then took in a deep breath and noticed a note on a nightstand beside the large bed.

Y/N started to grab the note when she noticed the type of bed she was on; it was a waterbed with gold trimming. She breathed out heavily and grabbed the note, ignoring the rich detail.

Y/N rubbed her eyes as she opened it.

I will be home soon. Hoseok and I went out and you needed rest. Feel free to stay if you don't want to go back. We will be home near 5. - JK

Y/N sighed and folded the note up. She then uncovered herself and got out the bed.She popped her back as she noticed the pain in her stomach was completely gone.

On the stand was a bottle of pills for pain and internal bleeding. Y/N put the note on the table and noticed a clock that read 3:30 pm.

"Ouch.." Y/N huffed as she walked to the door. Her feet were sore and cold. She excited the room, shutting the door and going towards the stairs.

She started to the front door but stopped and looked towards the kitchen. She closed her eyes.

She sighed and walked to the kitchen, going right to the fridge. She opened it, seeing it was loaded. She grabbed milk and eggs.

She sat them on the large gold and black island and went to the pantry. Y/N then grabbed flour, sugar, salt, and chocolate bites.

She then looked through cabinets and found a few mixing bowls. She grabbed all the ingredients and started to pour them in the bowls.

As the milk mixed with the flour, salt, and sugar she grabbed a few pecans and cashews in small circular containers.

She opened them up and threw them in the mixture. She then turned on the oven and poured the mixture in a large metal pan, putting it in the oven. She backed up and looked at the clock: 4:25 pm.

Y/N then went to the sink and washed her hands, got a glass of water, and sat at the bar on a stool.

She then brought the fine glass to her lips, drinking the ice water slowly. Y/N then sat the glass on the glass countered island bar and watched the oven carefully.

She sighed to herself and looked up. She then looked at the clock: 4:45 pm and the oven went off.

She stood and grabbed mittens, opening the oven and taking out the dish. The aroma filled the kitchen. Chocolate and nuts filled the air and made her mouth water.

She sat a cloth on the bar and placed the metal dish on top of it.

She smiled a real smile as she placed the lid on the dessert that her mom taught her to make. She'd never made it before but she knew she did it right.

She nodded and grabbed a pen and paper-pad that was nearby. She tore off a note and started to write and scribble.

She then placed the small note on the dish and put the pen and pad back where she had gotten them. By the time she cleaned everything up and washed and put away the excess dishes it was 4:57 pm.

She then went to the door and left, making sure to lock it back.

Y/N then walked through the grass, holding herself as the wind hit her bear skin hard. She walked over to her home, going on the porch just in time to see a black sedan pull onto the street.

She opened the door and cracked it to see the car pull into Jungkook's driveway.

The two males got out the car, groceries and take-out in hand. They laughed and were shatting as they unlocked and entered the home. Y/N closed her door and sighed, leaning against the hardwood.

It was cold against her back, sending chills all over her body.

"Y/N?"

She heard her father's voice so she turned her head to see her dad entering from the living room.

The floor of the house was cleaned from all broken bottles and stains of beer and excess alcohol and cigarette ash. He had cleaned up and shaved, no longer smelling deplorable.

The girl looked down, putting her hands behind her back, "Father." She spoke softly. She then looked up and across the room to see him completely.

"Your room is a mess, clean it." The man then disappeared behind a wall. Y/N heard a door slam and lock. She then heard a loud crash and his voice. He was cursing everything in the world.

"Of course it is.." Y/N sighed to herself as she walked up the stairs and to her room.

She opened the door to see everything in her dressers was all over her floor and her window was busted; for the second time this month. The girl sighed as she picked up her mom's picture.

Somehow it didn't shatter like everything else.

Y/N had her window completely open as she took out the shattered, broken pane. Her hands started to throb as she cut herself through the bandage.

Out of the pain, she dropped the glass out her window, it shattered all over the ground beneath her.

"Dammit.." Y/N cried out as she closed her eyes, gripping the windowsill. She leaned on it, supporting her current dead weight that was weighing her feet down even more.

She opened her eyes as she heard a voice. She looked down to see Hoseok and Jungkook through their kitchen window. They were standing by the dish she had made, note in Hoseok's hand.

He seemed to be reading it aloud to his younger step-brother.

Y/N then pushed off the sill and started to clean up her room. She dug through the wreckage to find all her polaroids of Jungkook and his perfect family.

She sat on the floor, looking through them; counting them and making sure they were all there and none were destroyed or tampered with.

She then picked up her favorite picture of Jungkook and held it against her chest as she closed her eyes and cried to herself.

The picture was simply him walking down his driveway in a black mask and skinny jeans. To most, it was just a picture. But Y/N took the picture the day her mother died.

To her, that photo meant more in the world than her own health. She felt as if it had a special place in her life and nothing could happen to it.

On the back of the photo, Y/N wrote the date and a small note. It was in black sharpie. She turned it over and read it, smiling as she cried to herself:

Once this is destroyed, so am I. -Kim Y/N 01/09/14

Y/N then sighed as she picked up all the photos and placed them in a small wooden box with a lock. She made sure to lock the box as she placed it on a shelf. Y/N looked at the clock.

It was Sunday and she knew she had school tomorrow. She dreaded it.

School was hell for her. She always got picked on for her bruises and scars. Nobody ever left her alone.

The popular kids at her high school used her for answers on tests and made her do their work.

Kim Y/N is a straight A student with the perfect GPA and they used and manipulated her to their advantage. The teachers knew it and didn't bother with it.

Only one male teacher was on her side and he taught the course of Literature and Fine Arts; Mr. Kim Namjoon. He was only a few years older than her, just recently graduating college.

Y/N finished cleaning her room by 8:00 and she walked to the bathroom, towel and soaps in hand. She had a thin shirt along with her as she shut and locked the door behind herself.

She heard the TV in her father's room through the floorboards of the bathroom upstairs. He was still awake and probably drunk again. Being quiet, she showered and used the bathroom.

By the time she got to her room after cleaning up and making a little salad, it was nearing 10:30 pm. It was pitch black outside as she entered and shut her room door.

Her room was cold due to the loss of the window. The curtains were parted as she looked through them and up at the sky.

She smiled as she noticed Hoseok and Jungkook were in the living room, eating the last of the dish she had made. That caused a smile to encase her face.

She closed the curtains, content with herself as she tucked herself into bed. However, a sadness engulfed her, realizing food meant nothing.

She then fell asleep, feeling lost and lonely; not sure what to do with herself anymore.

Neighbors: Part 3

Y/N awoke to her alarm clock. It was 6:25 am and she had to be gone by 6:40. She jumped out of her bed, all the pain from yesterday had left her body completely.

She opened her curtains to see it was still dark outside as she went to her closet.

She dressed herself in a white skirt and a white crop top. She threw on her mother's black jean jacket as she put on see through footies.

She grabbed black sandals and threw them on her feet as she gathered her school supplies into her backpack.

She put it on her back and closed her curtains. She then walked out of her room, grabbing the wooden box with all the pictures in it.

She gripped it in her hands as she ran in the kitchen and grabbed an apple. With that, she went out the door.

The sun was slightly up, the sky was pink and orange along with a thin black tint. She then looked around and at her watch to see she had left six minutes early.

She stuck the box in the side of her backpack and she started down the road.

The bandages were still on her arm and hands; she hadn't removed them yet. She took a bite of her apple as she stepped into the road, walking along the border.

Her high school was Bavaria High and she lived only two miles away so it was easier to drive. She looked back as headlights lit up the road in front of her.

She stopped and went to the sidewalk to see a black sedan pulling up behind her. She swallowed her apple as she watched the car.

It stopped right beside her. The window rolled down and she saw Hoseok looking at her, a smile on his face, "Get in, Jungkook and I can give you a ride." Hoseok was the happiest person Y/N had ever seen. Everyone loved him for his charms and how caring he was.

There was no way you could dislike or hate a person like him. He was the perfect friend. The thing that made people love him even more was the fact that he was half gay.

Y/N shook her head and spoke softly, "I wouldn't want to be a burden." Her voice was soft and frightened sounding.

Jungkook was in the passenger seat, looking at his phone.

He was scrolling through his feed on Instagram; looking at all the posts the hot girl's at Bavaria High had posted and sent to him directly and personally.

He didn't seem to notice Hoseok had stopped the car.

"You wouldn't be, love!" He laughed, a large smile beaming on his face, "Think of it as a thank you for that delicious food you made up yesterday." He then tapped the side of his car, "Jump on in, it's freezing anyways. Wouldn't want a baby doll such as yourself to freeze out here."

Y/N felt goosebumps raise across her skin as she quietly got into the car, shutting the door tightly as she sat down. She put her backpack beside her, throwing her apple on the ground.

She'd only taken one bite but was too conscious to eat it in front of the males in the car. She felt her stomach start to churn so she stopped it by gripping at it.

The car was quiet except the music playing on the radio softly. It was pop music and the singer Halsey was currently playing.

Her songs were always upbeat and they had a special aurora to them that just made you think deeply about yourself. Something about the lyrics and beat messed with Y/N the most.

They always seemed to compare to her life and how dreadful it was.

Once they reached the school, Y/N tried to open the car door but it was locked. Hoseok looked back at her, "I just wanted to ask if you were alright after what happened yesterday." His eyes were soft as he turned completely around to take in her whole face and figure.

"Let her out the car, Hope, she obviously doesn't want to be in here with us. Do you?" Jungkook spoke up, looking away from his phone and back at Y/N who gripped her fists in her lap.

She shook her head, not sure what to do with him talking to her. After yesterday, embarrassment filled her body. Hoseok sighed, unlocking the door.

Y/N grabbed her backpack and jumped out the car as she put it on her back. She closed the door and started to walk away as Hoseok and Jungkook excited the car.

People had turned to see Y/N exiting the car of the famous step-brothers and a few girl's didn't look too pleased.

Y/N started up the school stairs just as a crowd of people passed her to get to the step-brothers.

Once she got to the door and opened it, she looked back to see Jungkook looking away from her direction. She didn't think about it as she turned and closed the door as she entered the school.

She walked down the hallway to where her first class would start in nearly ten minutes. She peaked in to see Mr. Namjoon sitting at his desk, reading a book called The False Priest.

Y/N entered the room and he noticed her presence. He put the book down on his desk, marking his page, as Y/N took her seat at the very front of the class, right in front of his desk.

The two-seater desk was empty, besides her. No one ever decided to sit beside her, besides Mr. Namjoon.

He got up and went and sat beside her as she pulled out all her books. He smiled and patiently waited for her to speak to him.

When she got all her things out, she turned to him and nodded, "Hello, Mr. Namjoon, am I too early?" She had happiness in her deep brown eyes.

"It's never too early for you to come to my class, angel, I enjoy your company." He then ruffled her hair as he yawned, leaning back in the chair, feet on the desk, "Did you read the two chapters assigned for the weekend?"

Y/N nodded, "I have never seen a love triangle so messed up before. It's like they hate one another and they force themselves to love." She looked at Namjoon, "Is love always like that?"

He chuckled and shook his head, "Love may be complicated and one-sided at times, but it is never usually like that unless two people are forced together; like arranged marriages." He then leaned forward, putting the chair on all fours. He took his hand and smoothed back his purple hair. He smiled and nudged Y/N on the shoulders, "Why do you ask? Have you found Mr.Perfect?" He chuckled.

"The person I have fallen in love with doesn't acknowledge me and even if he did, I would never let him know how I feel." Y/N shrugged, sticking her lip out in defeat as she spoke.

Her eyes were heavy with guilt as the bell rang. Class was about to start.

Namjoon didn't move from beside her as kids started in the classroom. He sighed and crossed his arms, leaning on the desk, "If he doesn't know you love him, he is a waste of time. How long have you been in love with this man?" Namjoon then looked at Y/N, lowering his voice.

"Ever since Freshman year, so four years.." Her eyes then drifted, "But I have always liked him, loved him, whatever you wanna call my feelings." She then slightly laughed, looking right at her twenty-one year old teacher. He was three years older than her.

He sighed and his face went soft as the bell rang, class had started. Jungkook and Hoseok walked into the classroom, girl's behind them.

Hoseok smiled at Y/N but she didn't notice; Namjoon did, "Is it Jung Hoseok? He just smiled at you." The teacher smiled at the girl and bumped her shoulder.

"No!" Y/N laughed and hit his shoulder, "He's gay anyways." She then looked away, opening her text book. She turned her head and smiled at him, "I think everyone is waiting for class to start, Mr. Kim."

Namjoon stood up, ruffling her hair, "They can just wait until I'm ready to teach then." He then walked over to his desk and sat on the front, swinging his legs.

He looked throughout the classroom and sighed as he grabbed his book,

"We are going to answer questions on the chapters you were to complete this weekend; please get your books out but don't open them up just yet.
