My Hero
Introduction
She lifts her head and looks at her phone as its screen lights up.
She quickly shoves her hairs back and wipes away her tears. She dabs her hot cheeks with her sleeves to cool them down before answering the video call.
Katie
[Small Smile] Hi James.
James
[Smiling] Hey Kati-- Woah!
James
[Surprised] Did you cut your hairs short?
She feels a lump form in her throat which she gulps before answering, ignoring pain in her heart.
Katie
[In Low Voice] Oh...yeah...I just...felt like it....
James
[Smiling] Well, they looked good on you....Not saying that short hairs don't look good on you!
He says quickly to clarify it.
James
[Smiling] Well, saw your new video on the channel....You were Amazing!
Katie
[Weakly Smiles] Thanks.....
James
[Concerned] Is everything okay....?
She quickly nods to assure him.
Katie
Yeah...I'm okay....just tired....
James
Oh...It's okay. You should take some rest.
Katie
[In Low Voice] Yeah.....
James
Oh, Katie? I just need to do something right now.
James
Call you in a minute, okay?
Katie
[In Low Voice] Yeah...it's okay....
He disconnects the call and she stares at the screen as it slowly turns black. She sighs and puts the phone back on the ground.
She was sitting on the ground, against the wall. She closes her eyes and runs them a bit before looking around her.
She looks at her surrounding, a broken chair, stained cold floor, dark walls and rest of the things were hidden in the darkness.
Her name is Katie Jones....She is a reporter.
Katie
(Was a reporter.....)
Katie
(I left that job 3 years back...)
Katie
(Though it wasn't my decision.....Now a days, all my decisions are made by someone else....)
Katie
(Someone who thinks he has complete control over me and my life)
Katie
(Along with my work as a reporter, I used to make videos for my professional channel)
Katie
(I got famous for my videos.....but my boyfriend.....He started to feel jealous or 'protective' as he calls it)
Katie
(So he made me leave my job and my channel.....)
Katie
(He promised me a good life...but he brought me here where he keeps me locked)
Tears pool in her eyes. Suddenly her phone buzzes with a text message.
James
#Hey, check this video out! You can make your next video with it.
Katie
(James....My best friend....He is one and only person I'm still in contact with)
Katie
(When I left that job, he left it too with me)
Katie
(Ever since then, he calls me everyday)
Katie
(He has helped me in making my own personal channel and post videos)
She clicks on the video he sent and it starts playing. In the video, a white hooded guy is saving people from the building which is breaking down because of earthquake. Earthquakes were a common thing in City due to it being surrounded by sea from three sides.
Katie
(City Hero who saves everyone from troubles....)
Katie
(He is called Frost because of his ice powers. He uses it to save everyone but I know the truth....)
Katie
(He does is only for Fame)
Katie
(That's why I make my own videos with his recording in which I highlight his mistakes)
Katie
(And people love me for that)
James
#Did you like it....?
Katie
#Yeah, I can work with it.
A tear rolls down her cheek.
Katie
(I miss him so much...)
Suddenly her phone starts buzzing. She looks at the screen and her eyes widen.
Katie
(It's James! Oh no, he wants to video call me! But I'm a mess right now!)
She hastily starts wiping her cheeks again and takes few deep breaths to calm her breathing. She then attends the call.
James
[Smiling] Hey, what took you so long?
Katie
Nothing...I was just...you know...
James
[Smiling] So what about the Frost?
Katie
[Scoffs] Mess like always.
James
[Chuckles] Yeah, I see that.
James
[Clears Throat] In your last video, you talked so low about him....People follow you...They are gonna start hating him...
Katie
[Snaps] It's not My job to think about him!
She quickly closes her eyes and covers her eyes as she tries to control herself. It was getting too hard fpr her to keep it in. Her emotional were all over the place.
Katie
[In Crackling Voice] I'm sorry....
Her tears start rolling down her cheeks.
James
[Concerned] Hey.....What happened?
James
[Concerned] Is everything alright....?
She shakes her head as her tears flow uncontrollably. She lowers her head to hide it but it was impossible. She cries.
James
[Worried] Talk to me Katie!
James
[Worried] Please....!
Suddenly the sound of opening the lock startles her. She looks at the door as her blood freezes.
Katie
[Scared] He's here....
James
[Worried] Who's here??
James
[Worried] Katie, Tell me!
The door opens and her boyfriend steps in, looking furious. He finds ger on the ground with the phone in her hand.
She quickly cuts the call and puts the phone behind her with her trembling hands. She gulps.
The Savior
She looks at her boyfriend who stands in front of her. Her body was shaking.
That angry face once used to have a very beautiful smile. It once used to make her happy....but now it only terrified her.
David
[Furiously] What the Hell do you think you're doing?!
Katie
[Trembling] Nothing.....I was only talking to my friend....
He rushes towards her and soon was kneeling to her level.
David
[Gritting Teeth] How long have you been with me......?
David
[Gritting Teeth] Haven't you got this thing in your head?!
David
[Furiously] You're MINE And MINE ONLY!!
He grabs the neck of her shirt and pulls her close to his face.
Katie
[Trembling] I....I am yours.....
David
[Gritting Teeth] Then why are you looking for a new boyfriend?
Katie
[Trembling] I-I'm not!
Tears pool in her eyes. She knew where this was going. He pays no attention to it. His face was red with anger.
David
[With Disgust] Three years back, I made you leave your job and your filthy channel........so that no one except me can see you.....
David
[Furiously] But today I found This!!
He shows her his phone. It displays her personal channel.
David
[Furiously] You're still making your filthy videos!
Katie
[Trembling] No.....It's nothing like that....
David
[Furiously] You think you can Fool me?!
He slaps her on the face.
Katie
[In Pain] Aahhh.....
She falls on her side. Tears fall on the ground. For a second, she froze. She knew it was first in the series.
David
[Disgusted] Say whatever you wish to say! I know that you do this to get attention!
David
[Disgusted] So that people love you.....So that you have a variety to choose from!
She tries to sit back up. He quickly grabs her neck and pins her to the wall.
David
[Gritting Teeth] I'm gonna make you pay for it!
She tries to break free from his hold. She manages to slip out and shoots up, trying to run away.
David
[Angrily] Oh no you don't!
She tries to run but he grabs her arm and pulls hef back, holding her in his arms.
She struggles against his hold. He holds her tight with her back against his chest. He slowly starts kissing her on the neck. She yelps.
He slides his hand inside her shirt as he nibbles on her neck.
David
[Smirking] Give in already.....You know you love me.....
She continues to struggle but a small moan escapes her mouth. This actually makes him lower his guard, believing she gave in. As soon as she feel his grip loosen just a bit, she jerks her head back, hitting his nose.
He lets go off of her, holding his bleeding nose.
Katie
[Shouts] You've become a monster!
She runs again and he tries to catch her by grabbing her by her hairs....but her hairs were now short.
David
[Furiously] I won't let you go!
She runs but there's no where to go. She ends up by a wall. She quickly turns around to find David looking at her.
David
[Smirking] Where will you go now....?
She pants a bit and looks at his hand. Her eyes widen when she sees a knife in his hand.
David
[Smirking] I'm gonna get rid of you today for good...!
Katie
I would happily die than being with you!
He throws the knife at her. She closes her eyes, accepting what is to come.
It feels like an eternity. She slowly opens her eyes.
David gasps. She slowly lets out the breathe she had been holding and it turns into fog.
She looks at the knife which is inches away from her face.
The knife freezes and its blade shatters into hundred pieces.
David
[In Disbelief] What the Hell?
She was still emerging from shock when she notices another presence in the room.
Frost
[Shouts] Leave her Alone!
She looks at the white hooded man as he walks over to her and stands in front of her.
David
[Scowls] So you're the one called Frost!
She looks up at him as he turns to face David, hiding Katie behind him.
David
[Growls] This is our personal matter!
Katie was still shaken from the incident.
Frost
[In Stern Voice] I'm taking her with me.
He holds her in his embrace. She couldn't believe what was going on.
Katie
[In Disbelief] Frost.....
Frost takes her to the door when...
David
Well Go! Good Riddance!
They stop. Tears roll down her cheeks. Frost looks at her and holds her chin, making her face him. He notices her tears.
David
I was bored with that Bi*tch anyway!
She removes Frost's hand from her face as she drops her head.
David
She us nothing but a Wh*re!
Frost quickly turns and glares at him.
David
I don't want to see her anymore! I'm sure you'll get bored with her soon!
He chokes on his words. Katie looks up at David and her eyes widen. David looks at his legs, they were turning to ice. He groans in pain.
His body slowly starts turning into ice. Katie gasps at the sight.
David screams in pain. He could no longer move, his blood freezing completely.
David
[In Pain] Aaaaaaahhhh!!
Frost keeps staring at him as he completely turns into ice. As soon as it turns into ice, it shatters into hundreds of pieces. Katie gasps and pulls her face away.
Frost
[In Low Voice] I'm sorry...
Katie raises her head to look at him but he had vanished away.
Saved Again
Katie stares at what was left of David. Frost had left as soon as he got rid of him.
Katie
[Trembling] What am I gonna do....?
Her eyes fall on the door which had stayed locked for so long. She makes her way to it and slowly grabs the handle. As she turns it, the door opens. Fresh air Welcomes her back into the World as her hairs swirl with the wind.
She couldn't believe it. She slowly walks down the road, looking around. The world seemed to be full of people which was so different from her dark lonely room.
Katie
[Unsure] But.....Where do I go now....? He made me sell my flat.....
She thinks of that moment when he ised to be extra nice just to make her comply.
David
[Smiling] Babe....You won't need this flat anymore....You and I will now live together.
She shakes that memory out of her head with anger.
She goes to the bank to check the amount left in her account. It was almost empty.
Katie
(I shouldn't have let him have control over it....)
She sighs and curses her for this as she withdraws the amount. It wasn't enough but should be able to get one night stay at a hotel.
She goes to a nearby hotel. It was great but it was all she could afford. She goes in and checks into the first room she found available.
She goes to her room and closes the door behind her. She looks around. It wasn't luxurious but it was Way better than in what she used to stay. She walks over to the bed and runs her hand on the fabric of the blanket. She flops on the bed and a big smile spreads on her face.
Katie
Hmmm....It's soooo much better than the hard floor....I missed this luxurious life......
She could easily doze off in this comfort. Suddenly her eyes fall on the mirror by the wall. She slowly gets up and walks over to it. She stands in front of it before slowly removing her shirt. She looks at her body covered with scars and bruises.
Katie
(He used to treat me like an animal.....How did I fall for his tricks....?)
She wears her shirt back and flops on the bed. Before she could notice, she drifts off into a deep sleep.
Katie is startled awake by the continuous banging on the door.
She looks around her and slowly remembers that she is no longer his captive. She takes a deep breath in relief.
Katie
(Who could this be....?)
She gets off of the bed andwalks over to the door before opening it. A police officer looks at her.
Police Officer
Ms. Katie Jones?
She hesitates before nodding to him. Ofcourse he knew who she was. There was no point in lying.
Police Officer
[In Stern Voice] I'm afraid but I'll have to take to the police station.
Her eyes widen and her blood gets cold.
Police Officer
For killing David Mickelson.
Katie
[Gasps] What....no...I didn't!
Police Officer
[In Stern Voice] You'll have yo come with us.
Before she could say anything, she is pulled out of her room and out of the hotel to the police car parked near the exit.
Katie
I didn't kill anyone!
Police Officer
It's hard to believe for us as well.....I mean, how can a lady kill and cut someone into small pieces.....but you're the prime suspect....
Police Officer
According to our records, you two have been in a relationship for last 5 years.
Police Officer
And your call record tells us that you were present at the crime scene at the suspected time of death.
Katie
I didn't kill him....Please believe me!
Police Officer
Sorry but you will have to come with us.
He gestures to his companion who nods in response. The other officer takes out the handcuffs.
Everyone look at him as he appeared out of nowhere.
Frost looks at her and then faces the Police officers.
Police Officer
[Surprised] Frost! Can't believe you're actually here!
Police Officer
There's no problem here, sir. Thanks for checking on us.
Frost
[In Stern Voice] You can't take her.
Katie looks at him in disbelief. The officer lightly glances at her before facing the City Hero again.
Police Officer
Sorry....I believe there's some misunderstanding....We are taking her to the police station.
Frost
[In Stern Voice] Let her go. I take full responsibility of David Mickelson's death.
The officer looks at him in disbelief.
Frost
[In Stern Voice] I killed him...Take me in.
She gasps, not being able to believe what she heard.
Katie
(Is he surrendering?!)
Police Officer
[In Disbelief] Mr. Frost, are you sure you know what you're doing?
Frost
Yes officer, I am accepting the crime I committed.
Police Officer
Well then....take him in.
The companion gulps and looks at the officer. He hesitates and looks at Frost and then at the handcuffs.
Frost
Don't worry. I surrender. You may take me with you.
He nods slowly and ties the handcuffs, guiding Frost to the car.
She emerges from the shock.
Police Officer
I apologize for all this. You may leave.
As the police car leaves, she returns to her room, trying to get her mind around what just happened.
Katie
Did Frost just surrendered?
