I know what you’re thinking: ‘this was a terrible idea, you don’t even like ghost stories. How the hell do you think that you could actually make it through this haunted house?’ Sure, it was put on by the second years, and it was in the middle of the day, but come on. I knew this was a bad decision the moment I heard the click of the closing door behind me, sealing my fate. The room was draped in darkness, the only light was a dim red glow coming from a lamp in the corner. I shiver, my limbs suddenly becoming icicles. I gulp, and take my first steps, better to just get this over with. Looking to my left, I see pictures of students from all age groups, pinned to the wall, with red ‘x’s over their faces, some are even ripped. I blink away, and look to my other side, fiddling my hands in front of my chest. That side was actually worse: there was a chair with a mannequin sitting pretty, wearing nothing. I turn around the corner quickly, avoiding eye contact with the model.

Looking forward, I see a makeshift hallway, streamers hanging from the ceiling. My mind was reeling. I have to walk through that?! I step slowly, each streamer sending a cold shiver down my back. Whoever set this up, was a demon. I’m sure of it.

Finally reaching the end of the exhausting hall, I am spit out into a large dark room. Looking around, it looks like a normal classroom, desks and all. I sigh in relief, until I feel a slight touch at my ankle. I look down. There, under the desk next to me, was a girl, whose greasy hair covered half her face, looking at me, and reaching for my foot. Screaming, I run to the front of the room and whip the door open, and slam it behind me. Closing my eyes, and breathing deeply, my pulse now out of control, I lean against the door. What the hell are these students trying to do, give heart attacks? I open my eyes to take in the new hell I stand in. There is fake blood everywhere. Up the walls, forming puddles on the floor, and sprayed on the ceiling. I gulp and step further in. After a couple seconds, I notice fake limbs scattered on the floor. Walking to the other side of the room, I open the door and immediately run face first into something fluffy, and short. I fall backwards, onto my butt, and look up at what I ran into, and scream.

“IIYYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHH PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!! ” I say, my voice cracking halfway through, my face pale. Then, my vision goes black.

Opening my eyes slowly, and squinting at the harsh light, I sit up slowly. My head is spinning slightly and my head hurts.

“Thank god!” I hear a male’s voice, “You scared me! I thought you died!” He said, his voice loud, but gentle. I look to my left, where the voice came from, and my eyes widen. There, sat a boy about my age, wearing a wolf costume, holding the head in his arms. His face was full of happiness, a smile stretching across his features. A small smile appears on my face without me even realizing it. Then, the words he spoke hit me, and my surprise must be evident on my face, because his smile gets even bigger and he speaks again.

“Yeah! I always wondered how my soulmate could suspect me as a murderer. I guess this answers it!” He explains, the smile never once leaving his face. I look at his wrist and visibly flinch.

“S-sorry for yelling at you like that.” I say, holding my wrist up for him to see, “I don’t like haunted houses, I’m not even sure why I entered to be honest.” My face becoming hot with a blush. He just laughs.

“Well, I’m glad you did!” He laughs more, leaning closer, he looks me in the eyes, “Wooooow, I really am lucky to get someone as cute as you!” He says, his eyes seem to sparkle as he speaks. I blush even harder, earning more chuckles. I decide it’s time to introduce myself.

“Whoa, your name really matches you!” He almost shouts, “I’m Nishinoya Yuu, a second year!” He bows quickly, grabbing my hand. “It’s nice to meet you, Soulmate!” His light blush makes me smile.

“I’m the lucky one, getting someone as cool as you. It’s a pleasure to meet you, too!”
