PROLOGUE
Erwin glanced at Levi who was currently holding a cup of black tea as he leans against the wall of his office.
It was another busy day for the Survey Corps due to the preparations that they are making for the next expedition outside the walls.
Hope was ignited when Erwin proposed his idea of reclaiming Wall Maria from the Titans through the help of the newest member of Levi's Team, Eren.
Levi
I know that you are up to something again.
Levi
What exactly is this plan of yours?
Levi
Keeping secrets, are we?
Levi asked as he took a sip of his black coffee not taking his eyes off of Erwin.
Erwin diverted his attention again to the draft that he was making and then spoke.
Erwin
Is that reason why you are here?
He asked as he continued to survey the draft that he made for the newest scouting position that they'll be applying once the expedition takes place.
Erwin
I can't tell you the details yet but if the results of the expedition goes according to the plan then this may answer the questions that keeps me awake most of the nights.
Levi
I see, so the one responsible for killing shitty four-eyes's Titan infiltrated the Scout Regiment.
Erwin
Everything is still a gamble. In order for my plan to work I need to do what should be done. This expedition might y-
Erwin was interrupted when suddenly the door of his office opened harshly, revealing Hanji covered in sweat.
Levi
Shitty four-eyes, what the **** is happening outside.
Levi asked with furrowed brows. The surroundings was peaceful so he wondered why Hanji reacted this way.
Hange
L-Levi, E-Erwin...a gray signal flare was spotted followed by two y-yellow flares from the southern part of Trost.
Upon hearing what Hanji said, Levi dropped the cup of black tea that he was holding.
Levi
S-Stop joking about that shitty four-eyes, it's been a year already. H-How can that be possible.
Hanji's tears came rushing down from her eyes.
She then nodded and looked at Levi with hopeful eyes.
Hange
I saw it with my own two eyes as I was there with Moblit and Eren.
Hange
One of Garrisons approached me as they saw some Titan activities on the forest that's why I headed and took Eren with me to see if that's true.
Hange
The moment I arrived, the signal flares were shot that's why I headed towards here using my 3DMG. Those signal flares were only handed to them...right? They are alive, right?
Without a word, Levi rushed out of Erwin's office. Erwin and Hanji looked at each other for a second and followed Levi.
Hange
Erwin, it's them... right?
Hanji asked as they followed Levi's steps.
Erwin
Yes. It's them Hanji and I hope they made it back in one piece. All of them.
When they arrived outside, Levi quickly used his 3DMG and swung across the houses heading to Trost.
He was the first one to arrive at the southern part of Trost District.
He asked himself as he scanned the whole place.
He then spotted a commotion half a kilometer from the East.
Nobody noticed him as he set his foot on the top of the wall the soldiers were busy helping those who just arrived from outside the walls.
His heart was beating so fast as he looked at the back of those familiar people whom he knew. The familiar uniforms that he haven't seen for over a year.
His eyes quickly searched for someone and when his eyes landed at the back of the only one who was wearing a mixture of gold and blue uniform he can't help but shed a tear.
Levi
Her hair grew much longer.
He said almost whispering.
Eren called causing for everyone to look at him including them.
Levi wanted to rush towards her as soon as he saw her face. Give her a hug so tight but when he finally got close to her he started shedding tears again.
Episode 1 of Part 1.
✨YEAR 844, SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE BREACH OF WALL MARIA✨
Hanji called from across the room waving her hand, smiling wide.
Y/N
Hanji, lower your voice. I'm just across the room you know.
You said as soon as Hanji arrived and sat beside you carrying her tray of food.
Hange
Sorry about that. I got pretty excited seeing you again, you've been out with your squad for a week. I just missed hanging out with you. Erwin's kinda boring since he's a man.
You chuckled because Hanji sounded like a kid whining to her mother.
Hange
Anyways, how was the trip to Wall Sina? I should've accepted your offer in being a part of the Special Operations Squad. I think I'll be able to persuade Erwin and Commander Shadis about my research about Titans.
You smiled at her and answered.
Y/N
Somehow we managed to got along with the Military Police in capturing those bandits. It was kinda hard at first since they keep on nagging but I managed to convince them.
Hange
I see. Well, that's nice to hear. But, I still don't think that it's necessary for your whole squad to participate. Geez, the Military Police are so arrogant. They even requested for you, the leader of the Special Operations Squad to participate. They are so full of themselves.
Hanji said, shaking her head in disbelief.
Y/N
Erwin won't be joining us?
You asked as soon as you noticed that Erwin's missing.
Hange
Oh, yes! He won't be joining us for today because he was with Commander Shadis. I believe it's about the new recruits that they found from the Underground.
Hanji replied as she started eating her potato soup.
Your brows furrowed as she listen to what Hanji stated.
Y/N
From the Underground? How did Erwin recruited someone from there?
Hange
Well, I don't really know the whole details yet but he said that they are very skilled. They were some sort of criminal or thieves down there. I'm not very sure.
You sighed and put down the spoon that you are using.
Y/N
We can't really blame them if they live like that. It's the Underground after all, people struggle to survive there. I'm sure that if they'll have another choice then they won't do such stuffs.
Hanji smiled at you and nodded.
Hange
What you stated was a fact.There's been a shortage in terms of food and such. The prices went up drastically. Geez the meat is very expensive too!
Y/N
It's a good thing that they decided to join the Survey Corps. Erwin must've seen something from them that's why he recruited those people. Let's just believe in Erwin's judgement. He's Erwin after all.
You said as you continued eating.
After you had breakfast with Hanji, you two headed towards the training grounds as instructed by the Commander himself.
Miyuki
Y/N Taichou, will the new recruits be joining us? I've heard that they were recruited by Erwin himself.
Y/N
I still don't know Miyuki. I just got the news this morning about the new recruits. Never seen them too.
Azi
From what I've heard, they are from the Underground.
Klein
I already saw them earlier with Erwin, they were heading to the Commander's office.
You turned your head towards Klein who was sitting on one of the benches.
Miyuki
Really, Klein-chan? What were they like?
You also payed your attention to Klein, curious of the identities about the new recruits.
Klein scratched the back of his head before answering.
Klein
Well, first of all they are very good looking. The short one with black hair stands out the most. The other guy gives off a nice aura while the girl in red-brown hair was cute.
Hiro
So a total of three recruits?
You turned towards Hiro, the silent member of your squad. He rarely talks and joins the chat that's why you were a bit shocked that he's interested in the new recruits.
Your squad composes of four members. Miyuki Scott, Klein Henderson, Azi Ivanov and Hiro Tyler. You've been together for a year. Commander Zachary was the one formed your group and assigned you as the leader.
You can say that Miyuki is the most approachable member of the group as she gives off a very positive and bubbly aura. She also loves to talk and is friendly towards the other cadets.
Azi was more like the pretty boy in the squad. He's very popular with the girls.
Klein is weird. He loves to gossip and mess around with people yet he's very clumsy at the same time.
Hiro? Well, he's cold. That explains him.
Azi
Do you really think we can trust them? The fact that they are from the Underground scares me a bit.
Azi suddenly stated that made you sigh.
Azi
H-Hey, I'm just being careful Y/N Taichou. You know it's hard to trust people nowadays.
Y/N
I understand your opinion, Azi. But, let's not judge them first. It's Erwin's idea to put them here so they might be a huge help to us.
Miyuki
That's right Azi-chan. We must get to know them first, they might be nice people who were just forced to commit such crimes because they struggle to survive, right?
Miyuki said and then smiled.
Finally the long wait is over.
The Commander appeared and instructed you to line up.
Keith Shadis
Attention, all!
After all of you saluted to him, three people appeared on the scene.
You tilted your head as you examined each one of them.
You whispered to yourself.
Keith Shadis
From today, these three will be fighting alongside with you!
Keith Shadis
Introduce yourselves!
You were kinda shocked as when the black haired guy crossed his arms, looking annoyed.
He looked like he never wanted to introduce himself.
Your jaw dropped as to how he introduced himself.
Miyuki
Oi, Leader. He looked mean isn't he?
Miyuki whispered from my back.
You can't help but to agree on her since that Levi guy actually looked and sounded mean.
Keith Shadis
Levi...the first thing that you goddamn need is discipline.
You nearly laughed as to what the Commander said to him.
Isabel
I'm Isabel Magnolia. Nice to meetcha!
The girl with red-brown hair introduced with a smile.
Farlan
My name is...Farlan Church!
The other guy awkwardly greeted.
You looked at the Commander who was about to announce which squad will he be assigning the new recruits.
You silently wished that one of them will be put in your team since your squad really lacks members.
All of your members are very skilled and good in the field but lately, works been tough on you after the breach in Wall Maria.
Keith Shadis
Flagon. These three will be assigned to your squad.
You pouted, hiding the disappointment in your face as you looked at Flagon who was shocked by what the Commander said.
Y/N
I wish Commander Shadis assigned one to my squad.
You said in low voice even though you know it's impossible to have a new member of your squad because they'll go first to the Commander in Chief if they'll do that.
Keith Shadis
Look after them.
The Commander said to Flagon.
Flagon asked in disbelief.
Keith Shadis
Are you dissatisfied?
Commander Shadis said, eyeing Flagon.
Flagon
It's just that Erwin-
Keith Shadis
Erwin is in charge of the scouting position.
Keith Shadis
Is that understood?
Flagon answered and then saluted.
Miyuki
He sure looked dissatisfied. Right, Taichou?
Y/N
Well, yeah. It's obvious that he's lying.
You said and laughed a bit, seeing Flagon's reaction.
Keith Shadis
Commander Hearst!
You quickly looked at the Commander and saluted.
Keith Shadis
Help Flagon in guiding and teaching the new recruits. I'd expect that you'd be a great help to them since you are one of the greatest here. See to it that they won't end up being a meal for the Titans. This is an order from Premier Zachary.
Y/N
Understood, Commander Shadis!
You and Hanji both answered.
Y/N
I thought he caught me laughing there.
You said as you wiped the sweat on your forehead. You got quite nervous when you were suddenly called.
Miyuki
I thought we were good as dead too.
You then looked at your members and smiled at them.
Y/N
Well, guess I won't be joing you train today and for the following days. Hiro, you'll be incharge of the team. Report to me if something happens.
You instructed as you saw Hanji approaching Flagon and his squad.
After you waved goodbye to your members, you headed towards Flagon.
You greeted and then smiled.
Flagon
Y/N, how was the trip to Wall Sina?
Y/N
Oh. It went pretty well. The Military Police were cooperative SOMEHOW that's why it ended quickly.
Y/N
Geez. I nearly punched Nile because he was so stubborn.
You replied and then flashed a small smile.
You turned your head to the one who just "tched" and saw Levi throwing death glares at all of you.
Y/N
Hi. I'm Y/N Heart, I am the leader of the Special Operations Unit formed by Commander Zachary. I'll be helping you guys and train with you.
Isabel
Woah. I never seen anyone as pretty as you.
Isabel said like a baby while looking at you.
Hange
Well, what you said was true. She's actually the most beautiful girl here. People call her the "Darling of the Walls" and "The Face of Freedom" as she is represents us, the military.
I pinched Hanji's arm, getting shy about what's she's been talking about.
Y/N
H-Hey, Hanji. Stop saying that, those are not even true. I swear I'm just ordinary like you guys.
Isabel giggle and clinged on your left arm.
Isabel
She's really pretty Bro, just look at her.
Isabel then looked at Levi who was annoyed as hell. He lifted his head and your eyes met. You smiled at him but then he just rolled his eyes at you.
Farlan
Don't mind Levi, he's just not in the mood today. I'm Farlan Church by the way.
Flagon
You three better not give me a hard time or else I'll tell Erwin and make sure to turn you over to the Military Police.
You looked at Flagon and frowned

Hey, I think it's not necessary to treat them like that. Besides, it's Erwin's decision to let them in, you know Erwin. He's not the type of person who'll make reckless decisions. If you doubt them then it's like you are doubting Erwin.
You said, sounded a bit angry.
Flagon
"Oy, Y/N. I don't care who made them join. I just don't trust these guys. They are from the Underground, they may harm us.
You bit your lower lip, calming yourself.
Levi
Tell me if you are done with your dramas. I'll just be sleeping under that tree, waiting for training.
Levi said in a flat monotone voice and turned his back against all of you, heading towards the big tree.
Y/N
I'm sorry for that. Let's go and start training.
He stopped and looked at you.
Episode 2 of Part 1.
You said as you entered Erwin's office.
There you find him, sitting on his chair, holding some papers.
He lifted his gaze and smiled at you.
Erwin
Heard that the mission on Wall Sina was a success. Congrats on that.
Y/N
Well, it was kinda hard at first since Nile acted like a total asshole. He doesn't want me to lead.
Erwin chuckled and then put the papers on his table.
Erwin
That's Nile for you.
You marched your way in and sat on the couch at the corner. You then got a piece of bread from the platter in the center table and munched it.
Your grip on the bread tightened as you remembered how Nile gave you a hard time back in the mission inside Wall Sina.
A few moments later, the door swung open revealing Hanji with a smile on her lips. The smile that she uses when she sees something cool. Something that caught her attention.
Hange
Oy, Erwin.That Levi guy is one of a kind. You should've stayed and watched how he held those blades and used the 3DMG. His skills are exceptional and he is really fast!
You then remembered how good the new recruits were but Levi was on another level. What amazes you the most about them is that they did not received proper trainings back then.
Hange
He'll be really famous, I can sense it. This is getting really interesting Erwin! If in the future we'll be getting scouts with top calibers then we'll really have the chance to defeat the Titans!
You suddenly remembered the conversation you had with the two a month ago.
Y/N
Erwin...Hanji, are you telling me that...
Erwin
Yes. He's the one that we need. The likes like him for the new scouting formation to work.
Erwin
However, I need to tell you about something.
You looked at Erwin with curious eyes.
Erwin
Hanji. I need you to find this man. I believe he's in a hospital getting treatment for his legs.
He said as he stood up. He then got something from his drawer and headed towards us. He placed a sketch on the center table and sat beside Hanji on the opposite couch.
You shot Erwin a questioning look but before you coulf even ask, Hanji did it first.
Hange
Who is this man? What's the reason why ordered me to find him?
Erwin's face dimmed as he answered.
Erwin
I believe that he is Levi's friend who's in trouble.
Erwin
Y/N, your task will be to keep an eye on Nicholas Lobov. Can you do that?
Erwin
Gather every data that you can get.
Y/N
Why are you doing this Erwin? What's with Levi and his friend? Why are you so concerned about him?
Y/N
I already gave you the datas you needed about him, right? Did I missed something?
Erwin stared at you for a minute before answering.
Erwin
No. You did not missed something. I need another type of information and if things won't go according to my plan, I need you to protect the new recruits.

Find out if Levi works for him.
It's passed 7 in the evening when you arrived at the Headquarters of the Survey Corps, holding two pieces of paper being rolled up.
What you discovered today really did blew your mind away.
Erwin's story kept on replaying inside your head as you made your way to the mess hall, hoping to find your team and discuss what happened to their day before you report to Erwin since you did not have the chance to train with them today.
Drowned by your thoughts, you did not noticed that the trio were ahead of you and before you could even realize, you bumped on Levi's back.
He turned around with furrowed brows but before you could even say it, Isabel held your hand and pulled you closer to her.
Isabel
You looked bothered, Beauty. Did something bad happened to you?
Y/N
I'm completely fine, just a bit tired since I ran errands for Erwin because he's with the Commander. I had to do some reports.
You said showing the papers that you are holding and smiled.
Isabel
Woah. You are pretty close to Erwin, are you?
Y/N
Well, we've been friends since I was nine. I followed him to train after he graduated because he's been nagging to me about freedom and such, so I guess we are pretty close.
Farlan
Uh, are you going to the mess hall too? Uh, how should I call you? Squad Leader Y/N?
You chuckled at the sight of Farlan awkwardly talking to you.
Y/N
Yes, I'm going to the mess hall too. And you can call me Y/N, you can drop the formalities.
You said and flashed a smile at them.
Isabel
Hah, I wish I was boy so that I could become your boyfriend.
Isabel said and then looked at you.
Isabel
Levi bro, won't you agree with me that really is the prettiest person here inside the walls?
Isabel said nudging Levi.
Levi
Tch. We've only been here for a short time. I'm sure there's a lot of beautiful girls from the interior walls.
Levi
You are just calling her beautiful because she's well dressed and such. The girls in the Underground struggled to survive there, they care more about their survival than their looks.
Levi
Everything's just new to you Isabel. She's really not that beautiful for me.
Your jaw dropped. You never expected that you'll be receiving those from Levi.
It sounded like an insult to you but somehow, what he said was true for you.
What he said was a hard blow to you yet it looked like nothing to him.
You bit your lower lip as you don't know what to say or to react.
Isabel let go of my hand and looked at Levi.

L-Levi bro, I don't think it's necessary to say that. You could've said that you we have different opinions rather saying it that harsh.
Y/N
It's okay, Isabel. Levi sure is right. There are a lot of pretty girls inside Wall Sina. A lot. Don't worry, I'm okay.
You smiled at her and took a quick glance at Levi to see his reaction but he seems like he really doesn't care at all.

And, oh. I forgot to get something in my room. You can now go to the mess hall.
You said and started walking away from them.
You said as you sat on the bench. You crossed your arms on your chest.
You sighed and close your eyes for a moment. You felt so tired because you went out to gather information about Lobov and his connection with Levi.
You ended up meeting one of Lobov's trusted men, paying a huge amount of money for him to spill the beans and making sure that he would shut the hell up. It also resulted to you threatening him using his family just to make sure he won't speak to Lobov.
On top of that, Erwin instructed you to stick close to the trio as he wanted to make sure that the three of them won't leave the Survey Corps.
Thinking about everything that was being put on your shoulder makes you want to lay down on your bed and hibernate for as long as you could.

Why would Erwin do this to me.
Hiro
That's why I never saw you after you left us during training.
You turned around and saw Hiro leaning his back against one of the pillars with arms crossed.
Y/N
Why are you not in the dining hall?
He simply replied and stood straight to give you a salute.
You laughed a bit by his answer. Hiro oversleeps most of the time. He even falls asleep even on the most unexpected places.
Hiro
I was heading go the mess hall when I saw you here so I figured out that we could go together, Taichou.
You stood up and stretched a bit before nodding.
Isabel
Well, how did it go?
Isabel asked as soon as Levi sat beside her.
Levi
Tch. She's with that silver haired guy on her squad.
Isabel
You should've apologized for what you said to her Levi Bro. You don't have to be mean to her since she's being nice to us.
Farlan
Well, I think Isabel is right. She really is nice to us and that girl Hanji too.
Farlan agreed and took a bite of his bread.
Levi
Isabel, Farlan. Don't be so comfortable around them. Remember the reason why we joined the Survey Corps.
Isabel sighed as she played with her soup using the spoon.
Isabel
I don't think she's that kind of person, Levi Bro. I know that she's a strong soldier because she's a squad leader, not to mention that she's handling a special operations unit. But I don't think that she's that kind of person who'll back stab us. I can clearly see that her intentions are pure.
Farlan
Her moves are unique. You can tell that she really is something as I observed her earlier. Also, I saw how her squad moves and you can say that they really are on a different level than the other soldiers here.
Levi
Isabel, don't get fooled by her. You should be careful and not be sure that you won't act suspicious in front of her. The fact that she's close to Erwin and the leader of the Special Operations Unit means that she really is something.
Isabel
But still, I don't think it's necessary to be that harsh to her. She really is beautiful.
Levi
Alright, she is that beautiful. You don't have to tell her that, I'm sure she's aware of it and is full of herself.
Isabel and Farlan's eyes went wide as they heard what Levi said.
Isabel
I knew it! She's pretty right? H-A-H-A-H-A that's why you sounded like that earlier!
