The Ancient One Of The Abyss

The Bar

A scene, unlike the norm, but, also, the norm, unfolds. A modern bar, by all means, and a very tempered atmosphere, to all present, except the new barista. With golden locks and wiry hair, she rules above all with her looks, if only she wasn't so innocent. The peculiar thing about her, not so peculiar by any means around here, but peculiar to you, were the ears growing out of her head.

She was taken aback by all the new faces, and she could not believe her eyes. She was looking directly at an orc. What was most surprising of all, however, was not the orc. it was not the far or the druids, nor the goblins, Lizardmen, slimes, or even the frost giant in the corner. It was HIM.

Now here, dressed in all black clothes, with a straw hat concealing the emailed void that was his eyes, was the excitement pinned. They rarely had elves around here, \(the ears of such an elf poking out of the rims of his hat\) and such a handsome jawline meant he must be a high elf. But what was he doing here?

The handsome elf sits down at the counter, but before I could talk to him, the orc called me over.

Hello, what would you like to order.

~I said, a little too cheerfully.

A platter of vixen, no sides, please.

~he replied smiling.

I was a fox race beastkin, so I really disliked such comments.

What, you don't have it? Then I'll take it. Unwillingly, if need be.

~the orc said, standing up and grabbing my arm.

Let her go.

~Some voice, beautiful as death, and just as chilling, said softly.

And why should I?

~the orc said.

As good final word, etched in indignant pride, fell from his lips, his arm also fell.

His eyes went wide, and he fell to

the floor, crying like a newborn siren. He was finally silenced only by his head falling as well.

All throughout, no one heard a sound from the man who had done this, unmoving, from his seat at the bar.

Amazing!

Cool!

Superb!

~The crowd cheered from the background.

The elf got up, placing a twenty on the counter, and left for the door.

Before leaving, the man stopped, seemingly to have forgotten something, and sat back down.

I would like to have a cheeseburger, no onions, extra mayo.

~He said, not bothering to let me speak.

So just like that, a tale that is an average day to the elf, has turned a fox's life upside down.

If you liked my teaser chapter, please leave a like, and subscribe is you want more. I would be more than happy to type this up if you see merit in it. The actual chapters will be in first person, and the character it will be faxing on will be the elf. A small spoiler, the elf's name is Aramil. And yes, this is modern times. Hope you enjoyed!
