My name is William Dodd, but I go by my middle name Chase. I'm 15 years old and I live with the most dysfunctional family ever.
I just so happen to be the middle child that no one ever notices unless I do something wrong. My older sister is 20 years old and does everything she can to get on my nerves and my little brother is 10 years old and does everything he can to get me in trouble. My mother favors my sister and believes whatever she has to say. My father favors my brother and lets him get away with everything with me as the scapegoat. Moving on to the present day, I was on my way back home from school. (Even though I live 15 miles away from the school I attend, my parents still make me walk to and from school.) Just walking down the sidewalk minding my own business, when this flash of light comes out of nowhere and causes me to faint. Someone must've abducted me and left me alone in the woods to die, because when I woke up I was leaning against a huge tree in the middle of a dense forest. I attempted to stand up but fell back down due to my entire body being in pain. Then I tried to scream for help but my throat was too sore to make a single noise.
After what seemed like hours of repeated attempts I was finally able to stand up and walk. I was still unable to speak, but at least I was able to move around. After a while of walking around aimlessly, I began to notice that everything looked really big. I was just about to call it quits and just lay down to die,
I heard someone scream, it sounded like a little kid. So out of curiosity and because I was lonely I went to inspect the scream. Sure enough when I arrived there was a little boy who looked about 6 years old screaming at the top of his lungs. Whenever he noticed that I was standing there he screamed again and bolted into the bushes. Because I'm an idiot and lack common sense I ran after him.
Whenever I found him, he was curled up in a ball behind a tree. I was about to ask what was wrong and why he ran away, but then remembered that I couldn't talk. So I threw a pebble at the back of his head to get his attention. The little boy quickly turned around and screamed again. He was about to run away again before I put my hand up to tell to stay. He seemed to relax a little then asked "Who are you and where are we?" I tapped my neck and then made a X with fingers (which looked really small, but I passed it off as "still waking up") to signal that I can't talk. I guess he understood because he just said "Ohhhhh". After a moment of silence he introduced himself and but when I heard his name I fainted out of suprise.
After a moment of silence he said "My name is...". But before he could finish I fainted again. (why do I keep fainting?) When I woke up I was laying down next to a fire covered up with a blanket of leaves. There was no sign of the little boy or anyone else. I was about to get up to find some water when I heard someone behind me say "Well look who decided to finally wake up". I must've flinched so fast that I sent a gust of wind into the fire, because it flared up almost setting my leaf blanket ablaze. When I turned around there were 2 people standing there staring, both looked about the same age of 6 or 7. On the left was the little boy from earlier and on the right was another little boy who looked a little like the one from earlier, but with brown hair instead of blonde. I tried to introduce myself to break the silence, but found I was still unable to speak. Finally the blonde haired boy from earlier said that he first found himself leaned up against a tree, but he thought he was dead so he freaked out. The brown haired boy said that he also found himself leaned up against a tree, but when he got up he something rustling around in the bushes so he grabbed a stick and threw it. Turns out it was the blonde haired boy in the bushes looking for firewood. After another awkward moment of silence the blonde haired boy said "Hi my name is Wesley, it's nice to meet both of you." Then the brown haired boy said "Well that's easy to remember since I have a brother named Wesley, my name is Liz btw." That's when I put things together and realized that these two boys were my brother and sister. When I figured it out I must've yelled really loud, because both boys covered their ears. On the bright side I could talk again, on the not so bright side I realized why I couldn't talk to begin with. When I realized why I couldn't talk to begin I screamed again and this time the other two were ready for it and had already covered their ears. After we finished recovering from me screaming Wesley said "Aha, so you can talk!" Which I responded by saying "I can now, but I couldn't before." "Oh ok" he responded with a smile.
I then stated "I'm your brother Chase." They must have thought that I wasn't telling the truth, because both of them started laughing uncontrollably. After about 5 minutes of laughing, I asked of either of them knew where we were or how we got here. But both shrugged their shoulders indicating that none of us knew where we were or how we got here. None of us knew why we were 6 and 7 years old, but we were a lot stronger than any 7 year olds I've seen. It was going to be dark soon and all of us were hungry, so we decided that I should go a find something to eat. So I wandered of into the woods to find food, only to realize how much our bodies had changed.
Almost an hour after leaving to scavenge for food I came to realize that it was way too quiet. There was no wind, no birds, not a single sign of life. I decided that it was a lost cause and started to head back to camp, when I caught a glimpse of movement in the corner in my eye. But when I turned to investigate, there was nothing there. I could have sworn that someone or something was watching me and I had very bad feeling about it. But I just brushed it off as my mind playing tricks on me and kept walking. When I got back to camp my siblings were nowhere to be found. "BOO!!!" someone behind yelled. Now I want to say that I turned around and punched my brother for scaring me and totally did not turn into a human napalm bomb, but you can't win every battle. I'm not sure what surprised me more: the fact that I turned our campsite into a giant scorch mark, Wesley had become a rock, or that Liz was inside of an ice cube. When the 3 of finally decided that we were done freaking out, I said "Well on the bright side of things we have superpowers, but on the other side of things our campsite is a giant scorch mark and I think Wesley would have pissed himself if he wasn't made of rocks right now. But hey, superpowers are cool right?" Wesley quickly responded by saying "No I wouldn't!" "Yes, you would have and all 3 of us know it" Liz stated. "Okay whatever, first off I just noticed that I am releasing what look like solar flares, which I'm going to guess is not good." That caught both of their attention and from what I know about nuclear physics the flares mean I'm close to reaching critical mass. (For those who don't know what that means, critical mass is what happens when a nuclear reaction becomes unstable and kaboom. I think you can figure the rest.) So I said," Okay if both of you don't want to be incinerated, you need to get about 50 miles away from here in the next 30 seconds!" I figured that they were going going to freak out and start running in circles, but to my surprise they both responded by nodding their heads. Wesley became some kind of rock golem and hulk style jumped through the trees. Liz on the other hand just flew away. (when did he learn to fly!?) But with both of them gone in perfect timing I went boom and not a dynamite kind either, like what would happen if I dropped a match into a hole filled with the entire US nuclear bomb arsenal kind of boom. I must've fainted once again because everything was dark and quiet. I woke up to Wesley throwing a bucket of water at me and not just the water but the entire bucket. So after recovering from a bucket to the face I got up and started pacing back and forth.
