this story is about someone who became the chief police somewhere in New York, "chief, I heard you and your wife are having a baby soon! Congratulations! The chief replied, "thank you!" The other police also greeted with congratulations to their chief, it was already becoming late the police officers for morning duty already starting to go home. John the chief police of the city remembered something in the past. He remembered when he was just 8 years old having a dream of becoming a police officer. The reason he remembered the past was because he had a dog named James he was like a brother to John growing up together with his dog, he named his dog James because he once wanted to have James as his name. John recalled many sweet memories of his time together with his dog growing up together they were like best buddies. When John woke up from his office it was already 9 pm at the night, he went home and arrived not long after few minutes of travel to his home, his home was just close to the office. He arrived late he saw his wife and went to his wife and spent their time together. He and his wife ate together and communicated and planned man things for their first baby, and they were very happy that it was a boy. Time passed swiftly that it had already reached 10:30PM at night, the two of them went to sleep after planning for their first baby. The moment John slept he had a dream it wasn't a normal dream it was a special dream of his memories.

Time passed fast in his dream recalling his past, starting from the moment he graduated to become the police being a police officer was his dream, John was applying for police training after saying his goodbyes to his family, time went fast again his training lasted 2 years. John finished his time of training he also planned to have his dog as his partner and was also being trained by himself, they were like brothers and knew each other since little, he also knows that his dog will only have at least 10 years as his partner he knew that his dog will get old, he asked to be in charge to his hometown he was more familiar in that place time passed and he had much outstanding performance as police in there and he was also said to be the next chief.

During this time the office received a report of extortion and said threatening the family of the victim to pay a huge amount of money for the hostage to be released, the hostage that was said was a woman, and their family recently transferred to the town. John immediately with his companion his dog James and other officers to the scene. It was reported to be at the dam, they soon reached the dam and immediately tried their best effort to try to negotiate, John himself started to get closer and left his dog to negotiate as closer he got the criminal was alerted and started to close his gun to the woman's head. John said "please calm down, I'm here to negotiate" the criminal seemed to calm down and John continued to talk to the criminal, it was going softly with no problems. But the criminal felt something was wrong, the criminal decided to escape or either kill his hostage, the criminal knew something was wrong.

The criminal shot his gun pointing up and ran with the hostage. Immediately the other officers heard and they ran towards the criminal and trying to apprehend the criminal. John chased the criminal and called for his dog, after running the criminal left his hostage and continued to run, the hostage was safely brought to a far and safe place, there was gunfire that could be heard from time to time, John and his dog went to the criminal after some gunfire the criminal was slow at reloading the gun the criminal holding. As John got close the criminal only then finished reloading and pressed the trigger shooting at John, John screamed in pain he was hit at his legs, the criminal in a hurry and was not able to aim properly. The criminal was about to point his gun to John's head suddenly, the dog James jumped to the criminal and bite him, the dog was kicked hard and it growled and barked a painful shout. Just as the criminal was about to shoot John, the dog jumped again hoping to save his owner. James was shot on his brisket two times, James the dog saved his owner at the last moment and the other officers arrived.

The criminal was surrounded and was forced to surrender. Immediately the officers called for an ambulance John himself reached out to his dog James he was crying and thankful to his dog at the same time he encourages himself that there's time covering the wound of his dog instead of his, time passed fast his dog lost too much blood, and an ambulance wasn't there yet, he was already receiving first aid treatment and his dog, he knew that his dog was already dying from the loss of blood he decided to have his dog beside him and he was really thankful for his dog and talked to his dog. Time passed the dog died just when the ambulance came, John cried he lost someone who grew with him since little they had a lot of memories together with his dog.

A month later in his dreams, it was the time the woman he saved was very grateful to him and he was asked to go out to a restaurant as a presence of thanking him. It was at this moment he woke up and saw his wife beside him he could not help but cry remembering his partner, it wasn't just his partner but more like a brother, after his dog's death he said to himself to help all those in need in the town as well he became the chief police of the town after recovering the woman he saved took a liking to him and was currently his wife now and until now the town greatly like him, he was very kind and helpful to everyone in the town. Especially for dogs he would take care of them his actions changed the town, taking care of dogs. The story ends here conveying the message of sacrificing for others.
