It was night time. Veronica was looking into the mirror and thought to

herself. She just had all the normal features and she wanted more. She wanted to be more beautiful. She wasn’t happy with these features. I

wish that I was so beautiful that Tom falls in love with me.

Little did she know that her wish was going to be fulfilled.

Tom was her high school bad boy and literally every guy in the school wanted to be “him”. Veronica would often look at him wistfully from

far away. She did try once to make him fall for her but Tom wasn't interested. He just wanted to chase after girls that were his type or

more specifically those who were beautiful, rich and in every way BAD.

Veronica would often spend half of the time thinking of ways to have Tom but was quite unsuccessful.

That night, Veronica slept around 1 am and woke up at 9 am. “Oh no! I’m so late.” She said. She ran into her washroom and bathed. But just

when she was about to brush her teeth, she saw her face in the mirror and screamed. “Aaaahhhh! Who is this? This is not me.”

Veronica was surprised. Her face looked so different. Her skin had become so smooth and beautiful. There were no pimple scars, her lips

looked full and her figure looked toned.

“ Finally, my prayers were heard.” She said excitedly.

After brushing her teeth, Veronica chose a beige short dress and high boots. She wore them and headed downstairs for breakfast. Half of her

family was sleeping and her dad had been gone to a business meeting since Monday. So she made her breakfast quietly, ate it and headed to

school.

Veronica was just in time before the bell rang for the first period of the day. All the kids were rushing to their classes and no one paid

attention to her. “Ugh its mathematics again.” She thought.

Tom wasn’t in her maths class so that period went smooth. Smooth in this way that if Tom was here, she'd focused on him only and not on anything else. Her love for Tom, was an obsession. She was completely mad for him. And she didn’t

realize that her obsession could be very dangerous.

Obsession isn't love and love isn't obsession. Love sets you free yet obsession just holds you down.

Alright guys, I’m hella tired tonight. Its around 4 am here and my

parents are going to be super pissed if they saw me awake. As for the

story, don’t worry I’m still evolving, still learning. I’ll try my best to give you exciting content.

Episode 2

Veronica was ecstatic. She was looking forward to catch a glimpse of Tom. But for some reason, Tom didn’t show up the entire day. She asked a few students and no one had the slightest clue.

Veronica was upset. The entire day, she ignored all the stares of jealous girls and just wanted to see Tom. A few boys tried to approach

her as well but she declined all of them politely. Finally, after waiting an entire day for Tom, she headed home with a heavy heart.

That night, Veronica tried to think about how she had become pretty so suddenly.

Then she realized that she had actually met a Tarot card lady on a new

moon festival, who gave her a beauty charm saying that it would

activate on a full moon. “Come here my dear child. Let me see what you

want.” A middle-aged woman wearing lots of odd rings said. Veronica just looked at her and she doesn’t know what came over her. She

followed the woman into her odd room. “You want beauty, my child.

Beauty always comes with a price. Will you be able to afford it?”

Veronica just nodded although her mind wasn’t processing at all that

moment. She was thinking, “she probably just conning me but anyways she looks very mysterious. Lets just try this. It wouldn’t hurt to

try.” She was looking around in the room slowly.

There was just a single problem. Veronica didn’t pay attention to that part the beauty charm will steal the beauty from others and give it to

the owner as she was busy daydreaming. Actually she didn’t even believe that charm had some power.

A week passed. A girl got involved in a drugs case and some people destroyed her face. Soon two more incidents followed with the same

situation, a boy and girl were scarred permanently. Veronica didn't have any idea that all of this would be related to her. A month had gone by and no sign of Tom. There were some flying rumors that Tom had left the high school. Veronica was devasted.

One day she had just returned from high school and was going upstairs

when her mother called her. “Ver, come down. Someone wants to see

you.” Veronica went to see the guest. Surprisingly it was Tom’s mother. Tom’s mother were her mother’s friend and would often come to

their house or invite them to theirs on holiday festivities.

“Hi there, kiddo. How are you? You’ve become more beautiful than the last time I saw you.” Said Tom’s mother.

“I’m fine auntie. How are you and how’s Tom? Why he isn’t coming to school?” Veronica asked.

“Well don’t ask. He got himself in a weird accident. His face was ruined completely. It is so scary. It is as if someone deliberately

wanted to make him looked ugly.” Said his mother who was about to cry.

Episode 3

Veronica felt uneasy and asked to see Tom. His mother agreed to take

her to the hospital because she had been taking care of him and wanted a break from the stress.

He had gotten serious injuries on his face and body, Veronica was able to see him in the hospital.

Tom was unrecognizable. The boy she loved, she obsessed about. His face was beyond recognition. He was unconscious. She cried on seeing him and silently held his hand. Her tears fell on his hand.

“Hey, I know that you don’t love or even like me because I’m not pretty. I’m one of those nerdy girls who like to stay in the shadows.

I thought or maybe I was mistaken about the fact that you’ll like me

if I become beautiful. Anyways I realized that you got hurt because of

me. I promise to fix everything even though you won’t give me a chance

to come near you. I love you Tom even though it kills me. I’ll stay in

the shadows and won’t chase you again because I can’t bear to hurt

you. I promise. Veronica sobbed.

She didn’t know that Tom was listening to her every word. He just felt as if a power was clearing his head. Making him listen to the girl who held his hand. He was heavily sedated so he could just barely move his fingers. Veronica didn’t pay attention as she was crying.

Veronica left the hospital soon and tried to find the Tarot lady again. Soon she found the lady and told her about the situation. She was begging her to take the beauty charm back. “Please take it back.

It is a curse not a blessing. It has only brought me sadness. Please.”

The lady looked quietly at her and thought, “This poor girl has learned her lesson.”

She told Veronica to sleep. When she wakes up, it will be gone.

Veronica slept for an hour. On waking up she came to know that it was all an illusion.

The Tarot lady had actually showed her the future if she had actually given her the beauty charm. The truth was she didn’t give her any

charm at all. None of it had actually happened. Veronica was so happy to know that no one had gotten hurt.

Veronica thanked the Tarot lady and went home.

A few weeks later , Veronica was sitting alone and she didn’t know that Tom was watching her keenly. “She looks very familiar. For some reason, whenever I look at her, I can’t get hold of my emotions.” He thought.

He saw a guy walking towards her and it made him panic. Tom ran and cut the guy off. He asked Veronica. "Hi Ver, I was wondering if you

want to hang out with me this weekend?"

Veronica smiled and thought, “Looks like, that beauty charm wasn’t a curse completely."

For once she didn't have to do anything.

“Ok, sure”. She said and both of them walked to class together.
