Prologue

The rain falls heavy over the city that they call Atlanta and clouds are a nasty black, the only color you would get during a thunderstorm. The terrible smell of sewers shoots throughout the streets and rats scurried around alleyways. The pollution here is high, not that is affected their kind like it did humans and maybe it wasn't the best place to raise a baby but the population rate will help keep her hidden for a long time. At least until she's 25.  At least that's what they thought.

Cars rush every which way to get to their destination. A truck blocks Axel’s view as they both wait in traffic. Edith looks over to her soulmate who is getting frustrated by the minute. If they didn't hurry, somebody will notice their absence. She cradles the baby closely, tears escaping her eyes and trickling down her cheeks.

This couldn't be happening, She thought. Not to me.

“Don't bond with her, Edith,” Axel said\, he slicks back his platinum blonde hair and rests his left elbow on the car door. **“It will only make matters worse.” **

“How will we know that she's even ok,” more tears gush down her face and onto the babies arm. **“We will be in two different places with more than a million-mile gap\, this is our baby Axel\, have sympathy at least.” **

The traffic continues as he steps on the gas with one hand on the wheel and the other balancing his head. The city becomes smaller as he passes by building after building\, turning into a nice row of houses. **“I can't. You know what Aileen said. That baby of ours is everyone's future. If we take her back now\, she will be executed. I promise when she learns who she is\, what her purpose is and knows our world of ways\, she won't leave us ever again even if I have to force her. I will do anything for you but for now\, I will send Alexander to keep an eye on her.” **

The variety of houses thinned and more trees cover into view. Edith lets out another sob and places her forehead on the sleeping baby and plants a kiss on her tiny button nose. The baby squirms and a small whine can be heard from the small being as her mother hugs her for dear life.

The car pulls into a rocky road which is lined with trees until a two-story brick house is visible. The porch lights shine into the gloomy darkness. Two cars line the driveway which was a good thing, meaning both parents were home. Recently the couple had a miscarriage. Both, Edith and Axel were willing to give the couple a second chance in order for their child's protection.

They pull up to the brick mailbox. Axel puts the car in park, hops out and opens the door of the back seat to fetch the small white basket which has painted blue flowers decorating it from the inside and out. Inside had a pink pillow filling up the bottom half. Edith, still sobbing with shaky hands, opens the passengers' seat door and places the crying baby into the basket.

At the realization, she had just begun to give up her baby her hands flew to her mouth and she ran back to the car, slamming the door shut. Axel looks down at the baby's icy blue eyes, the ones she inherited from her mother and her lips in which she had gotten from him. If he gazed at her any longer he would have wanted to change his mind so he shielded the baby's head from the rain and walked as fast as he can until he made it up to the porch steps.

He gently sets the basket by the door, pulling the blanket from her angry blushed face and tucks her in. His hand caresses the young cheek and a sudden sadness washed over him. He tried avoiding that feeling and instead slips his hand into his back pocket to brings out a rose gold lining card. Which has the name ‘HARMONY’ embedded in silvery blue. Below says, ‘Please take care of her for us. Give her the necklace on the day she turns seventeenth. If you do decide to keep her, we will be in your eternal debt.’

He lays it on top of the squirming baby and unfastens a necklace from around his neck. The live neon blue color drains from the stone as he wraps it around the baskets handle. With that, he took one last look at the beautiful young he would never get to raise and said, “În viitor (In the future).”

He pushed upon the bell and quickly walked away, sliding into the driver's seat. Edith had her legs propped up on the seat with her face into her knees wailing loudly. He turns his gaze back to the door to see it open and a woman staring at the bundle, shocked. She calls out to her husband who now peaks around the door. His eyes fall onto the fuming baby with the same expression as his wife.

The couple's conversation goes on until the woman quickly picks up the baby, holding the baskets handle and taking the baby under shelter. The man sticks behind to search the woods when his eyes met Axel’s. Axel puts the car into drive and speeds down the dirt road.

Chapter One- Where is it at?

“Where is it, ugh,” Harmony shouts. Her whole room looks like the definition of a zombie apocalypse. Clothes thrown every which way\, shoes scattered\, jewelry over filling a small container\, and carelessly tossed hair products. Harmony walks over to an untouched jour despite all the half filled boxes\, opening it. Moving wasn't exactly easy especially when you where expecting friends\, trying to pack thousands of objects under 20 minutes and set to find a very important misplaced item. To make all things better\, today was her birthday. **“Ugh!” **

It was as if the world is against her in every way. Maybe she should have took her mother's advice or else this whole situation would have been solved. Harmony's movements come to a sudden stop, her face blushed and muscles tense. With a sudden thought, she stomped herself out the door and down a flight of steps. The house looked abandoned with all of its contents packed away. The couches and other huge furniture where the only things left untouched until the pickup trucks arrived.

Her mother pranced around the kitchen, gathering spices meanwhile her father scrolled through the newest TouchPad as always. His steaming coffee scented the half packed room. “The pots and pans are already packed, you will have to eat cereal,” her mom mumbled without having to turn around.

“Do you know where my paper is,” Harmony asks, her voice louder than she expected. Haiden looks up from his bowl as did Victoria who ditched her classes and decided to stick around to pack. Both are her siblings who looked down upon her for being the youngest and the only one to have blonde hair.

**“You will have to be more specific\, honey.” **

“An orange piece of paper, I literally had it laminated. Its my speech for the pep rally, before the Halloween Dance. That slip of paper is very important.” Harmony impatiently taps the floor and yanks at her blonde hair; heart is racing like a jet. If she didnt have that paper, she could kiss her position on the JUINS, goodbye. That paper was also to prove herself better than her rival.

Her mother leaned on the counter\, full attention on Harmony who was on the brim of exploding. In the corner of her eye she saw her brothers tall figure walk by. **“Have you looked in the living room\, maybe it slipped between the cushions.” **

“No, I wa-” Harmony felt a slight tap on her shoulder and she shot around to Haiden who gave a mischievous grin.

“I mistook your speech for a table mat, my bad sis,” Haidens tone is as confident as ever. **“You shouldn't have left something like that sitting around\, next thing you know\, it could accidentally end up as a doormat next.” **

What the hell, she mentally screamed.

“It was in my room,” she spoke through gritted teeth. Harmony's knuckles tightens and her face could probably be mistaken as a tomato. All her hard work just for it to be used so...so...carelessly.

Her brother shrugged, taking a step forward. “Hmm, then how did it end up down here?”

Harmony took a threatening step as well. “The cops will be asking the same thing.” She snatched the paper which now had a circular sticky residue on it and stormed off.

“Harmony! At Least eat something before you go,” her mother pleaded from below the stairs.

“Alex, Olivia and I will pick something up on the way,” Harmony shouted back, slamming the door shut behind her. Framed paintings rattled, she would have to pack those soon. Harmony spent minutes taking down memorable photos and stacking them all inside a cardboard box, most ripped from her outraging anger.

“Knock, Knock,” came a familiar male voice. Harmony swung open the door to be met by fiery red hair and a sweet smile but he's obviously not affected by her annoyed mood. “What has your tea boiling today, birthday girl?”

Alex partcores through the laid out objects and takes a seat on the rearranged bed. Harmony huffs, “Him.” Her voice bounces off the blue painted walls.

**“Him who\, exactly?” **

**“Who else!” **

Alex holds his hands up in a mocking surrender. “I'm taking that as in your brother.” Harmony shot him a death glare as she tries to adjust her jean shorts and tucked in purple top. “Okay, enough of your brother, are you okay because you seem more aggressive lately.”

“Yes,” Harmony shoutedly, whispers. “Haiden has made my life a living hell, Victoria as well but this takes the cake.” Her words are barely whispers and instead\, get louder. **“I can take the verbal bullying but he can't just come into my room and take whatever he wants!” **

Promptly, the mirror furthest from the door, shatters.

Chapter Two- Don't fall into the spider's web

Adoni sits in a brown leather seat, his long masculine legs extended and his elbows burrowing indents into the seat arms. His silver hair wraps around the entire chair as he gazes up at the glass dome that stands above the beautiful golden marble floor. The sun is blinding but so beautiful.

‘Please don't do it Adoni, my son,’ Her words repeat itself in his head. Adoni sighs and repeatedly taps his foot. He had to make a decision soon. He had two hours until they are sent off to do their mission. He now sits alone while the other men he will work with talk with loud voices while they wait to get a haircut. It will help them blend in with the crowd better, despite their heavenly face features.

Avoiding a crowd wouldn't be too much trouble. Some orphans like he was, mocked him for his royal heritage and silk-touched hair. But that didn't stop him from getting the position of an assassin, he thinks it only increased his chances. His distant mother had something to do with it. Or if you could even call her that. He blocked the woman off for 26 years because she had done it first after he was born, only to be kidnapped and sworn to spare this hybrid. What she didn't know was that he planned on keeping her for himself.

“I'm ready to kill the hybrid bitch,” Enzo, one of the men Adoni works with, shouts. Adoni was too in his head to care. Enzo’s shoulder-length hair shaping around his face as he tilts his head in deep thought.

“First I'm gonna have my well-deserved fun then gut her like a pig,” Victor murmurs. His Pompadour Haircut slicked back and curl at the end, giving it a flame-like look. He runs a hand through his black hair to give it a messy look. It wasn't long before he was called up by a short-haired woman with long legs and a pencil skirt.

After an hour of fighting with the barber, Adoni decided to go with the longest haircut. The Side Part Cut. One side of his hair reaches his jawline. The barber died his roots black to give his hair some kind of natural color then had the guards force him down to finish trimming it up again and finally blow-dried it.

Pissed off, Adoni angrily collapses back onto the leather chair in the community room where the other two remained groomed and dressed. Both boys smirked their eyes following Adoni's every move.

“What's wrong Fulger, mad they touched your perfect Fulger hair,” Victor claimed with a scoff. He sat with an up to no good look. He wanted to see the royal bastard lose his control.

“I'm not a Fulger,” Adoni growled. He stopped being that the day he laid feet onto întuneric. The Crepuscular territory. He was raised as a Crepuscular and got a job that most moved people wanted, the chance to kill Fulgers. Only the men who strive to have more power when both Ușoară and întuneric territories are supposed to have an even supply of power. Yin and yang.

“You're in denial Fulger, just because you were moved here because your Fulger parents didn't want you doesn't mean you don't carry the revolting gene. Having black wings with means nothing, it only shows what an abomination you are,” Victor replies, rising from his chair, dramatically spreading his large black wings.

“Does not affect how I am going to bash your Crepuscular face in,” Adoni raises from his chair and starts toward Victor.

“Try me,” Victor smirks. It worked, who knew he could anger a Fulger. They always said they stand for peace.

“Don't get your feathers in a ruffle, Adoni, is it?” Enzo steps between the two. “He's a **** to everyone and brings the worst out of people for the fun of it. Don't fall into the spider's web or you will be like all the other flys.”

“Sit down gentlemen,” a heavy voice booms throughout the room. Samuels, the man who put all this together, strides in with confidence on his shoulder and arm wrapped around vanilla folders with a hand in his pocket. His suit is straightened and his waist-length black hair is put in a ponytail.

“These will be the positions you will be playing,” Samuels passes around the vanilla folders with names written on it. Adoni takes a seat farthest from his rival, deeply glaring him down, his eyes a darker shade of blue.

“I don't care how you get the job done, just get done with it without exposing us or who you are,” Samuels said, circling the three. “If that happens, you will all be executed after suffering the consequences first.”

“Yes, sir,” Adoni, Victor, and Enzo reply all at once.

“Enzo, you will take part in the school’s band,” Samuels points to Adoni, “Adoni, you will participate in the school's football team.” And finally. “Victor, you will be the school's staff, taking up a position for the Hybrid girl's Chemistry class.”

“There has to be some kind of mistake. I don't even have the required education from High School because I never went,” Victor leaned forward.

“Don't worry Victor, since your so educated on Fulgers, it should come easy,” Adoni smirked.

Samuels continues. “Your goal is to complete this mission by or on October 31st, no later. So that means you have three weeks and five days to put the girl down. Your powers will be limited because you don't have a direct power source in the mortal realm, use it wisely. Also, a fair warning, we were informed that you might run into Fulgers from the Ușoară territory while you are there. Don't let them get to her before you do. Try and make her feel safe and that you are on her side because the hybrid girl is at the point of maturity and may have started developing her powers. Understood?”

The three assassins shook their heads. Victor’s grip on his knife tightens as a sinister smile comes across his face. He would find a way into the girls pants before anything.
