"Dad! DAD! DAD!!! Don't go, please!"
"huh...Lena... Is that...you?"
"Dad! Can't you see me!? I'm right here, right in front of you!"
"Lena,... listen... to me...we both know what's going to happen...."
"No! I'll take care of you, you'll live!"
"see?...you said it yourself,...even your second guessing my remaining lifetime....."
"No wa-"
"But promise me, that Lena Alec will never be an idol...."
"Wh-what's that supposed to mean dad....!?"
"Your..........name..........hide it. There....are.......dangerous...people..out...there........"
And then his eyes closed for good.
I woke up to find dried tears on my face. I had that dream again.... just why did this have to happen? Oh right, I forgot, it's all that stupid mysterious murderers fault. I swear, I will find him, and when I do, I'll make him pay! Along with Carlos' and Carmen's help of course, they're just as mad about it as I am.
— Carlos Kei and Carmen Kei were two members of 'Inderect' one of the top 10 greatest bands of all time, my father's (and mother's before she died) band, they were also my fathers childhood friends. Of course, they had to recruit a new singer because.... well, of my dads.... death. They ended up recruiting another couple; Stacy(Lee) and Jin Lee. Jin is a bassist and Stacy's a vocalist. None of us wanted to let the public know about my fathers death so we ended up leaving it at my father quitting the industry, which was the same excuse we used when he went to the Hospital. The hospital assured that there would be no leak of anything that had to do with him. —
"Yoooo, Lena! Wake up! We gotta goooo!!" a voice called from downstairs, it was Uncle Carlos.
Go where? I thought for a second. "SuperStar!!" I exclaimed.
Oh no! It was 8:20 AM already! I gotta get there before 8:45! I put on some jeans and a white-red ombré shirt. I rushed downstairs, skipping steps on the way, to where breakfast was waiting for me. I sat down and started scarfing down my food, meanwhile Aunt Carmen decided to make a fishtail braid for me saying that it was because it added a "special touch" (🙄) to my look.
We drove there in one of our non-expensive sports cars, so as not to attract attention, and stopped at a building made almost completely with glass. In front of the building was a billboard that said; 'SuperStar; Where Dreams Can Become Reality' (BNHA/MHA fans, where y'all at? 😏) This was it. I checked my watch, it was 8:40, thank God I made it on time.
I went into the building, walked up to the reception desk, with my guitar slinged behind my back and said:
"Hi, I'd like to sign up for SuperStar"
The person sitting there nodded and got out a list, "Sign your name please" they said.
I grabbed the list, Paused for a second, and wrote 'Ashlynn Jay Aaron'.
The person at the reception desk gave me a badge that had the number 800 on it, wow I thought, I'm up against 799 people...
I followed their directions and went to the waiting area for the contestants.
Someone on a loud speaker said, "Welcome contestants, to SuperStar! Where Dreams Can Become Reality! My name is William Jives and I, will be the host of the first episode of SuperStar season 10! And pretty much the rest of the season as well!"
"Aye! Hurry up will you? I don't have time to waste." said a voice from the background.
"Omg!!"
"Ahhh, my Sharp Tongued Prince!"
"Wadda' ya' mean? That brat Leo should leave the industry!"
"It's really is him!"
"Ugh, I can't believe that he actually came!"
"I can't believe it!"
"Kyaa! Leo Lexin!"
What the hell? People suddenly just started fangirling and hating over some dude on the microphone!? I was dumbstruck about how excited they were over the guy.
"Calm Down everyone, calm down. I will be calling on the numbers of the participants once the show starts shortly. Goodbye for now! 😜" The guy named William said.
It was quiet for a while but then everyone resumed talking together. It seemed like most of them were doing a duet with their friends.
Just then, I realized that I was one of the few people who didn't dress up. I mean, I was singing my dad and mom's debut song while wearing my mom's old clothes, so I guess I wore this and chose this song in memory of my parents, so I guess I kinda did dress up(with my fishtail braid and all).
I got up and went to the bathroom, Once I finished, I heard some commotion outside, in the hallway. What's all the noise about? I wondered to myself.

I finished washing my hands and pushed the door open.
My eyes widened at what I saw, one of the contestants was bullying another contestant!
I walked up to a girl with coral colored hair and a horrible jagged hairstyle, pointed at her and said "Hey! You wanna' go?"
She looked at me befuddled, "Go where?"
"To the land of embarrassment" I said grinning
"What? Are you trying to save her? She's nothing but a loser, don't waste your time on her."
"Then why are you wasting your time on her?"
"I-I I'm teaching her manners!"
I laughed super loudly just so that I could get everyone's attention. "You? Teaching someone manners?" I said wiping my tears.
"Are you sure that it's proper manners to kick and push people? If so, you need help" I said again.
"You!-" she was about to push me when a girl with golden hair and a side ponytail grabbed her arms and said, "You do know that there are security cameras, right? And you might even get disqualified for what you did to her and what you were and about to do to her" she said gesturing to me and the girl on the floor who Horrific Head was bullying. She was looking at us with hopeful eyes.
"OoOoOoooOO, looks like someone's in trouble" I said with a ring in my voice and and slight grin on my face. She glared at me and walked away.
I walked up to the girl on the floor stuck my hand out and said "Here. Are you okay?"
"Th-thank you v-very much" she said in a shy tone.
"No probs, what's your name?" I said.
"Eve. E-Eve Kai"
"What was that Horrific Head's problem?" I asked Eve.
"W-well, her name is Taylor Tao, a-and we go to the same school, s-she hates me, and likes to bully me..."
"Eh, it's fine, Horrific Head suits her better anyway." I said with a grin, trying to cheer her up.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was the girl that stopped Horrific Head from pushing me down.
"Oh yeah, thanks for the help back there"
"It's no big problem, I didn't like her that much anyway. My Name is Joy Jules by the way." she said smiling.
"My name is Ashlynn Jay Aaron"
"Great, let's be friends!" she said.
"Sure, how about you Eve?" I said looking at her.
"Oh! M-me? I would l-love to!"
"Nice! Let's head back, they'll be calling our numbers soon" Joy said.
And just like that we were suddenly friends, 'Do all friend just become friends just by saying so?' I thought to myself while we were walking
We grabbed some seats and sat down. We talked for a while and then the guy named William called "Number 752, Joy Jules"
"Oh, Eve, A.J., that's me, I gotta go!"
"Okay, best of luck!" Said Eve
"AJ, what type of nickname for a girl is that?" I said, dazed by the stupid boy name she gave me.
The participants who already went had to go to a separate room so I had to wait until my turn to see her again. Numbers 753, 754, 755, and so on, I had to wait for so long. I decided to have a little nap. I woke up abruptly to a sudden shake. I opened my eyes to see that Eve was the one shaking me.
"My number is up next up, I didn't want you to sleep through your number." Eve said in a worried voice. "Thanks" I said, rubbing my eyes.
"Next up, number 895, Eve Kai" said William through the speaker.
I took out my guitar from under my seat and started practicing until I was the last one in the room. In a few second, the load voice of William Jives boomed, "And last but not least, our last contestant, number 900, Ashlynn Jay Aaron!" I got up and walked onto the stage, in front of the stage, there were 4 judges Leo Lexin (the most popular artist this year), Andy Warhol (a former host, now a judge of SuperStar), Jessica Miller, (last years SuperStar champion), and Lynn Lynx Tang(a classical musician).
"Hi, I'm Ash Aaron"
"Great, you may begin!" said Lynn
Things to know in this chapter:
- All of the judges are famous characters in the entertainment industry
I strummed my guitar.
"Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
I think it's time to goooo
Away from all of the things that make you whole
heartedly hate me, yeah
heartedly hate me..."
Once the one minute was over, I opened my eyes and looked at the judges.
"Wonderful! I remember Lexter and Reina Alec, to bad Reina died and Lexter quit.
It was a perfect toned performance, almost better than the real thing, I give you a 100!" Judge Lynn continuously praised me.
"I couldn't help but tap my feet to the rhythm. It brings me back to when I was young... Oh I miss those two. I give you a 95!" Said judge Andy.
"Oh wow, you did it better that could ever do! 95!" Said Senior Jessica.
"Heh... It was wonderful, I give you a 90!.... is what you want me to say, right? I wasn't even alive when that song was made!" Leo said.
"Neither was senior Senior Jessica, besides, I expected you to be more of a prick, so I would be surprised if you actually gave me a 90." I said innocently
"Heh, you have guts to talk to me like that!" He said, pissed off even more about the fact that I was being genuinely honest,
"But I'll let you off this time, cuz your an idiot. Anyway, you're tone was too deep for your voice, try to sing the song in your ideal pitch, not in some try-hard one."
"But for this song, it was my ideal pitch."
"Eh!? There is no way that that's true. And you didn't sing it with your heart either, I don't appreciate songs that don't tell a story. And I hate lying about emotions even more!" He lectured.
"A 30!" He said trying to rub it in.
"100+95+95+30\=......." I mumbled. That equals 320. 320 divided by 4 equals......80!
"I did it! I passed an an average of 60!!"
"No shit Sherlock" Leo grumbled in a ticked off tone. He seemed irritated that I still passed even though he gave me a 30. I turned to him and smiled, probably pissing him off even more. Then walked off into the finished contestants room. I spotted Joy and Eve standing near the entrance, waiting for me. I ran up to them and asked if they had passed.
"I got and average of 92 points" Joy said
"Ummm...I got an average of 89" said Eve
"We all passed. I got 80." I said, 'excited' (she isn't good at expressing excitedness).
We walked up to the score board and waited for the passing contestants names to pop up.

"So close! I made it to the top ten." I said heaving a sigh of relief.
We all walked out to the lobby in which we signed in. I called Uncle Carlos to pick me up and waited, while Joy called her dad and Eve walked home.
About 20 minutes later, Joy's dad came, he wore a suit and a serious expression, he looked like one of those bossy and cold CEO's in the comics. He spotted Joy and I talking and walked up to us, that was when I noticed him.
"You must be my little Joy's friend!" He smiled, now looking like a friendly uncle
"Dad, I'm not little anymore!" she said, annoyed and embarrassed.
"It's been so long since you've had a genuine friend that's not using you, I can't help but be happy!"
Joy sighed and said, "AJ, this is my dad, don't tell anyone other than Eve, but he's one of the biggest investors in SuperStar The CEO of Jule Entertainment."
"Wow! He really is like the CEO's it the comic!" I mumbled.
Mr. Jules heard and laughed and said "I guess you could say that."
Then he turned to a Joy and said "I like your friend here."
"Gee, is that supposed to be a compliment? Anyway, I have another one that walked home already." Joy suppressed a smile.
"Yup, Eve's, a great person. Not to mention she's adorable." I said.
"YO! LE - ASH!" A voice called just after I finished talking.
We looked over and saw someone with sunglasses and a cap.
"Oh, hey Spade! Didn't know you were gonna pick me up!" I said excitedly.
"Oh, is this your boyfriend?" Mr. Jules asked.
We looked at each other and then turned to Mr. Jules "Us!? A couple? Never!!" We said in synchronization.
"Who would wannabe the boyfriend of that idiot?" Spade teased.
"Who are you calling idiot, stupid! The last time I checked, I get B+'s at least while you get C's at most!" I countered.
"Oh, you wanna' go!?" He said.
"Heh, bring it!" I said welcoming the birth of a war.
"Okay, okay, you're not a couple, so are you siblings?" he asked, stopping us from starting war.
"Well, I guess you can say that." I said
"She's my adopted lil' sis!" he said proudly.
"And a moment ago you called me an idiot, you proud to be the one and only bro of an idiot?" I asked
"Okey meanie. I'm sorry, I luv u." he said, sucking up to me.
"Ew, gross get away!" I said, hiding behind Joy.
Joy laughed and said "Well, we have to get going now. Bye, see around Ash!"
"Bye!" I said as they walked away.
"So, who was she?" Spade asked.
"Joy, one of my BFF's" I answered.
"Wow, you have more than one!?" He said in a surprised, mimicking tone.
"Yes and the other one's Eve. Now shut up and let's go" I told him.
We went outside the building and got in Spade's car. After a long day, finally, I'm heading home.
Things to know in this chapter:
- SuperStar ended at 6:00 PM, which was earlier than it was supposed to be, thanks to Leo being a stingy, over-the-top judge
