Somewhere on the planet Uno during the interstellar era, Chao Zai could be seen walking home with a conflicted expression on his face, blood and claw marks on his shirt. The day before he was on his home from school he was trying to make some money to help his mother. He was doing the usual in the city center using his |steal gene| to make some money as he was worried about his mother since their tyrannical landlord started doubling the rent to 60 silver a month.

They had to pay the the rent in three days so he decided to try steal from a guard who had a sack of coins on his waist. Normally he would only steal from normal civilians as they would be less observant. There’s less risk but he needed more money so he decided to try steal from a guard on duty who has curly hair and is normally arrogant and shows off his wealth by bringing bag full of money with him.

As Chao Zai walked past him he quickly uses his |steal| and in the blink of an eye he is already several meters away with a sack of coins in his hand before the curly haired guard realizes he was robbed.

“Get back here.” Shouted while turning around to start chasing him “Are you so weak you won’t fight me” not falling for the guards provoking words Chao Zai kept running until he reached a wall but he was too slow and the strengthend guard caught up to him and cornered him in an alley way with no way out.

“Give me the money and I’ll leave.”

The guard said while advancing in large strides with a sinister smile on his face.

“Fine.” Chao Zai said while glancing around trying to find an escape route. As Chao Zai was handing the bag of coins to the curly haired guard he was suddenly punched in the stomach and coughed up blood.

“Haha, this fool actually believed me.” Realizing he was tricked Chao Zai silently cursed under his breath.

“What was that, I couldn’t hear you.” When the curly hair guard finished saying this he releases a series of punches and kick to Chao Zai’s face and torso till he spat up blood. “Is this the power of someone with a strengthened gene” Chao Zai thought to himself but before he could finish his thought he was attacked again and thrown over the wall.

After getting lost from running in a panic he was lost. As he slowly pulls himself up to look around he noticed a thicket of trees in front of him and walks towards a broken stick probably around one meter in length to use as a support he carefully walks into the thicket of trees. After walking for what felt like miles he suddenly saw a pool of clean water.

Just as he was about to drink some water he was knocked over by a small squirrel like creature which he recognized to be a grade one gene beast. In a state of panic he tried to crawl away but was scratched along his calf with sharp claws leaving four marks with blood gushing out.

High on adrenaline he gets the courage to pick up the stick he was using as a support and in a frenzy started unleashing an assault of slash’s at the grade one gene beast.

With less than half hitting Because of how small the creature is and only making it angrier it claws at Chao Zai’s face but he raises his arms to block leaving several claw marks on his arms lots of blood pouring out from his hand. In a state of fury and fear he spreads out his hand looking for something to use as a weapon.

His hands come across a rock the size of a melon and before the gene beast can slash at Chao Zai’s face he quickly brings down the rock to smash it on the beasts face.

Normally grade one beasts wouldn’t be that strong but the already weakened and malnourished Chao Zai would have a hard time.

Continuously smashing the rock on the beasts face until he sees brain matter and blood everywhere he finally calms down.

[You have killed grade one gene beast]

“Eh, who said that?”Chao Zai said while looking around confused.

Until he hears it again.

“What?” Hearing the voice again he realized it was in his mind and not actually someone speaking.

“Yes” not sure why he said yes, still thinking it was a prank someone was playing on him.

Under the moonlight you can see his features better with his angular face, soft skin and dirty blonde hair looking quite handsome. Suddenly breaking from his confusion and remembering rembering his mother and sister at home who would be worrying if he didn’t get home soon before going he washed himself in the pond cleaning the blood off his body.

After searching for a while he found the wall he came in from and quickly jumped over. He was a bit confused as he didn’t know why but he felt a bit more agile.

After reaching a small 2 story house which was left behind by his father. He slowly tiptoed around the first floor about to reach the stairs when he hears someone behind him with a reprimanding tone. “where have you be-“ As this young woman in her thirties was in the middle of saying something, she suddenly saw the claw marks and the dried blood on his clothes she stopped herself and changed said in a worried voice “are you alright, what happened to you?”

After telling his mother what happened she said in a caring voice “I’m alright you don’t have to worry about the money issue. Now go to sleep and be ready for school tomorrow.”

Only after lying down on his bed in clean clothes could he relax and let out a long sigh. “Okay, What is this stuff from before about” not sure what to do he started thinking about that screen from before.

After thinking about it, it suddenly appeared in his mind. “Okay I can understand most of this except what are EP’s.” When he thought that a short description appeared in his mind.

Thinking about the eight EP he has he thinks about adding them all into |Dash| to test if this is how it works.

Thinking about his status again it appeared in his mind again.

The Interstellar era. The period in time when humanity has branched out to many different planets and universes. Eventually finding the Genetic Universe. When humans first entered the universe it allowed them to unlock their genetic potential.

In each genetic universe there are several planets. The planet Uno is an example of a planet in the first genetic universe. Once your strength reaches a certain point you can transcend the limits of the planet and go into the second genetic universe.

Humans could unlock their genes with different powers some powerful ones could allow you to control fire or ice. Others allowed you to move objects with your mind. Those are examples of more powerful genes but their are lots of weaker ones as well.

The people with the most powerful genes ruled over all.

The female teacher of class 3-b glances around the class to see what students are paying attention and which ones are not. She sees most of the students are looking towards the hologram. One student is clearly paying the most attention. The teacher is feeling fairly happy until she realizes the student it is. Chao Zai, the student with the worst Gene.

“Class is over, tidy up and go home.” The teacher said while getting up to turn off the hologram.

As everyone is chatting and leaving in their cliques one student stayed behind in deep thought.

Chao Zai was thinking about what to do next until he decided to test if his speed really did improve from adding EP to |Dash|.

|Dash|: allows you to gain a temporary boost in speed when used.

After deciding to go to the park grounds and find a tree to practice on.

After searching for a place with not much people he found a tree to practice on. Chao Zai started warming up by throwing some punches and kicks at the trunk of the tree, leaving a few scratches on the bark. After a few minutes he activates |Dash| and his speed nearly doubles, not prepared for the increase in speed Chao Zai trips and falls on his face. Learning from his mistake he prepares himself and starts attacking the tree with different patterns of punches and kicks..Getting ready to use his only genetic technique “Military fist” which is thought to every student in school. When he uses this technique he starts punching the tree with different styles. His last punch was his his most powerful which left a 2cm deep fist mark.

Genetic techniques are different ways to use your genes. Most have astronomical prices so Chao Zai can only dream about them.

Realizing that |Dash| is real Chao Zai feels unending excitement about what’s to come.

After he did some trainings he texted his mother on an old model watch on his wrist saying he’ll be home late. Of course he was actually going to go hunting some gene beasts.

After walking for a while he find the entrance to the forest but doesn’t enter straight away he first finds some stones and a long strong stick he can use to fight them.

When he was fully prepared Chao Zai decided to enter the forest, walking towards the pond he was at last time he hid in some bushes and waited.

After waiting for around one hour Chao Zai was starting to get impatient and as he was getting ready to leave suddenly saw a grade one scquirel. He learned about them in school their and knew their main strengths are the speed and their sharp claws.

Chao Zai gets into position and carefully tosses the one of the rocks he picked up earlier behind the scquirel. As it gets alerted and starts to run towards the sound Chao Zai quickly activates |Dash| and leaps out towards the gene beast.

When the scquirel notices Chao Zai it was already too late as it was hit in the stomach with the stick Chao Zai picked up earlier. Before it could react it was already hit several times more. Severely injured the scquirel jumps at Chao Zai. Using |Dash| Chao Zai quickly rolls away and counterattacks knocking it down.

After looking for a few seconds he notices a changes in his status.

His |Dash| is now grade 2 and it needs 100 EP to fill up.

The grade 2 |Dash| makes you even faster for a longer duration.

There are 5 Grades of gene beasts.

Each grade has different strength and rarity. The stronger grade beasts are rarer and there’s also a chance of the beasts dropping Genetic weapons.

Genetic weapons are when the beasts soul gets turned into a weapon, summoning beast or you can gain an ability.

Genetic weapons have low chance of dropping, so if you sell one it would make you a lot of money.

When hunting beasts it could become problematic if you tell someone you got a genetic weapon as someone might try steal it.

Quickly testing his grade 2 |Dash| out for a few minutes until he get himself used to the speed.

Seeing the sun still up he decides to hunt for some more gene beasts.

After a couple hours of hunting scquirels he stopped getting EP.

Seeing this Chao Zai decided it was time to stop hunting before the sun goes completely down.

At this point he basically knows the way back to the city. After walking for a while he finally got back home and silently made his way to his room.

After lying down on his be he opened his status.

Na Ling was walking home after school like normal, except she wasn’t with Chao Zai.

It’s not like she had romantic feelings for him it’s because their houses are in the same direction and would normally talk with him.

Na Ling belongs to a prominent family on planet Uno and is one of the best students in their school. Blessed with good looks, good grades and strength.

“I wonder what he’s been doing recently?” She thinks while looking at the setting sun.

Unaware to her that Chao Zai quickly ran to the forest as soon as school ended.

At this point Chao Zai has much more experience after hunting gene beasts for the past few days.

After giving up on getting any more EP from scquirels he started locking for other prey.

He found another grade one beast called the spiked armadillo.

It has a tough exterior with sharp spiked on the outside.

When he first found it he had some trouble as his stick couldn’t hurt it.

After dodging its attacks for a while Chao Zai’s |Dash| was about to run out so he quickly picked up a rock and started bashing the exterior without hitting the spikes.

After a few minutes of this process he finally got the announcement in his mind.

Confidently saying “Yes” sat down to regain his stamina and listen to the voice in his head.

After checking his status and seeing that he now had |Hard skin| which allows him to harden a part of his skin just by thinking about it and another 6 EP meaning he now has 69 EP in total.

He decided to test his current defence by punching a tree bare fisted.

After punching a few times his skin was barely cut meaning it was at least as hard as stone.

Using 10 EP to upgrade |Hard skin| from a grade 1 gene to a grade 2 gene he now had 59 EP remaining.

After upgrading |Hard skin| it now became as strong as a metal beinging resistant to cheap knifes and swords.

Confused at first he quickly checks out what |Defensive dash| does.

|Defensive dash|: when you harden your skin you get boosted reflex’s and speed. By hardening the legs you can boost movement speed.

Thinking it is good he quickly says “yes”. Checking his status again.

Happy with his status he quickly gets ready to continue hunting.

After only finding three more spiked armadillos he returned with 78 EP points.

The next day during school he was sleeping during the beginning and getting used to quickly hardening parts of his body.

Although he is still a bit slow he!thinks he can hold his own in a fight.

After reviewing his efficiency durinf hunting the day before Chao Zai remembered the main issue was that he couldn’t break through the armadillos defense unless he used a rock to smash it or used his only genetic technique “Militarty fist” which was quite tiring to repetitively use.

Knowing he needs more genetic techniques but not sure Oe to get them as they are too expensive.

Chao Zai wanting to stay discreet and not show his power unless he had to.

He decided to go to the Universal Employment Centre so he could take missions for people while using an alias.

When he arrived at the Universal Employment Centre there was an open hall a white wallpaper interior giving it a clean feeling. Quickly putting on a mask that he bought for a few bronze coins he enters the hall.

After entering and looking around for a moment a short woman who had the receptionist uniform on asked Chao Zai

“Are you here to post a mission?” She said while guiding him to her desk.

“No, I want to register for a Universal watch.” Chao Zai says while trying to keep his voice as low as possible.

Universal watches are like ID’s for the universal employment centre. You can take missions automatically from it.

After hearing him say this the receptionist stared at him again.

Seeing how young he looked and how his body was relativity small she guessed he was posting a mission.

“Are you sure, you could get injured or worst killed.” She’s seen lots of people who overestimate their strength and try to take on missions missions too hard for them and never come back.

“I’m sure.” Chao Zai says with a voice full of resolve.

Knowing there’s no way she scan get him to Change his mind she gives in. Handing him a tablet she says “fill in your name, birth etc.(you know what I mean)

After handing the receptionist the tablet with filled in answers she nods and gives him a Universal watch.

“Theif, huh interesting name.”

The receptionist thinks while watching Chao Zai.

As Chao Zai was walking away he looking at his watch to find a good mission he saw a cloak out of the corner of his eyes.

Interested, Chao Zai walls towards the stall and sees the a black cloak that has a hood. Thinking it will be good with his mask he buys it for even less that’s the mask.

Looking at his digital wallet and seeing 1 silver and 42 bronze coins he starts thinking if he needs any thing else.

After thinking he realizes he is only missing a weapon. He was originally going to try get a genetic weapon.

Even after hunting for several days he hasn’t got a single one so gave up on that and decided to go buy one instead.

After walking for a few minutes he finally found a small shop with a sign saying weapons with a picture of two swords.

When he entered he was greeted by a middle aged man was sitting on a seat behind the cashier.

Asking the middle aged man what he could buy for the amount of money he has with him. The middle aged man takes out two daggers, a small wooden shield with clippings on the edges and a rusted sword.

Giving up on the shield and sword he looks at the two daggers. One was a few inches longer than the other one but in worse condition.

The shorter dagger had strange carvings on the handle and blade and a more comfortable grip.

Chao Zai chooses the shorter one and still has enough money to buy a pair of black gloves so he doesn hurt his hands while gripping the blade.

Realizing it’s nearly dinner time he hurry’s home and greets his sister and mother.
