Summer's POV
Montello High.
Of all the schools I attended, this is probably the biggest, best and ... well, farthest. Daddy's list of schools seems to have run out so they sent me here. How many times have I been kicked out? It was just my first month as a junior in high school but here I am and I am in another school again. And the twist? It's a boarding school. I've heard a lot of things about this Montello High, and it's not quite good.
The Principal took me to the building on the right side of the school. The main building of Montello High is surrounded by two other buildings: on the left is a dormitory for men and on the right are women. The luxury of the students is obvious in the features of the school. In my case, I don't know how Dad handled that. We went straight inside, no one greeted the principal, some noticed just raised an eyebrow. We stopped at a door on the second floor. It has a bigger interior than it looks on the outside. A beautiful, white, long-haired woman opened the door and let us in.
"This is Summer Leondale, your new roommate," the Principal said.
"Hi. I'm Jamie!" Congratulations on opening the door.
"Mirden here!" Language of woman reading in bed. There are three beds in the spacious room. After a few reminders the Principal left and I went straight to the vacant bed at the far end. I started arranging my belongings.
"You need help?" Jamie asked. Mirden approached as well. I was wondering if she was a nerd because he was wearing glasses and holding a book but when I looked at the book cover ... MANGA! And he reads The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Whoa! I'm expecting Encyclopedia for that get up!
"I can do this." I am not really friendly and sociable. It's Sunday and I'm used on spending it quietly. No people around. No noises. But I think it would be impossible starting this day. These girls seem nice ... and I don't like them.
"It's been a month since class started, why did you just come in now?" Jamie picked up a book I had brought out. "Bram Stoker ' s Dracula? Are you reading this? "He asked a lot of questions.
"It's good that you chose Montello High," Mirden said with a smile.
"I was kicked out. And I didn't pick Montello," I answer coldly. Why? Why are they being so nice? Are the rumors about this school wrong?
"Kicked out? Why?" This Jamie girl would be a good paparazzi. But go ahead. I will just answer his question.
"Because of sending nosy and stupid kids to our school clinic," I replied and looked at them intently.
"Oh. It's almost lunch time. We're going down, ah. If you want us to just go to the cafeteria, ah." The two stood up at once and walked to the door.
Summer's POV
I finished arranged my things and went to the cafeteria. In a separate building with only one floor and glass wall. Clear and bright. I bought a single-sized pepperoni pizza and pepsi can and went straight to an empty table.
There was a group of men and women at the long table behind me and they were laughing and talking loudly. I really don't like noisy. I was about to stand up to shout 'SILENT!' That's what I usually do in such situations. But I did not do it when another group entered and tension formed. The newcomers, they had this excellent fashion taste of a gangster style. And I have to admit that they are handsome. There are seven of them while there are more behind me. I turned to look at the other side and yeah, some men with them will also throw something when it comes to looks.
But what can I know? Eh, what if the students here are more handsome compared to all the schools I went to? As well as the five women with them at the table, both beautiful and yeha, sexy. What are my insecurities, even here I am not tempted!
Newcomers approached in our direction. The women squirmed because of the two in front of the group. The first has blonde hair, tall and chinito. She is strong and whoah, she looks sexy especially and she is serious. The other one has messy black hair in fashion. His body is a bit bulky compared to chinito and I gotta say, he's hot and sexy and good-looking. And then reality kicked in! Damn! I was in the middle of a riot! But what do I care about them. I'm enjoying my pizza. I did not care that I continued eating when they passed my table and stopped behind me.
"Wow. The Black Government will have lunch here!" I heard a man say.
"Where's Van Freniere?" The woman's voice, most likely in the group on the table.
"This is just a warning, Dark Monarch. Do not touch the freshman. You will not want to taste Van's anger." Male voice.
"Really, Makki? I can't wait. By the way, don't you love girls? Why don't you just move in with us and you can have all these girls."
What is the problem with these people and why do they talk like this? Black government. Dark Monarch. Freshman. And it looks like there is still Women Trade. Uh. Now I know why there are rumors that Montello High is a school of monsters.
"Hahaha. Really? I didn't type them, eh. And I have no intention of joining the losers like you, Zach." And it looks like the riot has started because I heard cries and crashes. Turning around I saw how close the encounter was to me. The five women cheered a little backwards.
A man spilled on my pizza ... No more! My lunch is gone! When I got up to leave the place, a man grabbed my arm.
Are you one of the Black Government? Huh ?! "He asked angrily. His grip was too tight. I took a deep breath.
" No, "I answered
sparingly. He grinned and tried to pull me closer to him. What I don't like about everyone is that he is talking to me and holding me who! I slapped the can of soda on his face and crushed it. Next I stepped on him in the part he will completely regret.
"Agh !!!" He knelt down and then I kicked him on the floor and stepped on his face.
"I DON'T LIKE WHEN I WAS TROUBLED TO EAT !!!!!! "I shouted at him. Then I noticed that the surroundings seemed to pause and all the attention was on me. Uh. I also do not want too much attention.
"Who's that bitch?" Angry question of a man. It looks like a group of people at the table because I can't remember being with newcomers. I thought it was my end but the riot resumed and someone pulled me away from the spectators. Jamie and Mirden. We quickly ran back to the dorm.
"SUMMER !!! What do you think you are doing?" Jamie asked. Her eyes widened and she gasped as she closed the door.
"Why are you in the middle of a mess ?!" Mirden's voice. Uh. Do they really need to shout at me? Isn't it obvious that I was just having my oh-so-precious lunch? Which was ruined because of those jerks!
"I hope they don't face you!" Mirden added.
"Gawd! She's the new kid!
"Hey! What's with the panic?" Their reaction was annoying. Aren't they just overreacting? Eh, it's normal to defend yourself from those who ruined your lunch, right? They looked at me seriously and, Gawd! They were pale because of ... fear?
"The Black Government and the Dark Monarch. They are the two most feared gang groups at Montello High. Or even outside this school. And a suicide when you collide with them." Jamie explained. Uh! So I just bumped into evil gangsters?
"Yeah. Teen gangsters. That's just bullshit. They're just a bunch of idiots who thought it's cool to threaten and punch people. But that's totally lame and not so smart!" My answer. There are also gangsters at the school I went to, eh. We're classmates on detention and always met up with the Councilors. These gangsters here? Cowards. They can't even fight alone.
"They're different than your ordinary gangsters!" Mirden protested.
"Yeah. They're good-looking. But that doesn't make them special." I answered and slapped the earphones on my ear. I don't want to hear any threatening info's bout gangsters anymore. I also do not expect that everything will be fine, eh. And I will not stay in Montello for long.
But maybe I should have listened somehow to what Mirden and Jaime were telling me.
Summer's POV
The Bloody Welcome Party
I'm still yawning while looking at the schedule I just got. I never really expected to wake up early. My first class is on the fifth floor. English. I maybe a bad girl but I'm not a dumbass. The ones I choose to hear sink into my brain. What's that? Selective Retention? Selective Attention? Uh! Too bad. This school does not have an elevator for students. If there is, only in the faculty area. I gotta take the stairs ... the hateful tiring stairs.
I pushed the door open the moment that I found my room number. I'm slightly nervous but it felt normal ... another cliché. I'm a school hopper, remember?
"You must be the new kid. Introduce yourself to the class, please," said the teacher I met. All the attention is already focused on me. I really hate getting someone's attention ... or worse, everyone's attention.
"Hi. I'm Summer Leondale," I sparingly. They seem to be waiting for what I have to say next. But the teacher immediately realized that I had no intention of adding to my long and meaningful introduction.
"I'm Mr. Daniel Flores, your English Instructor. You can take your seat, anywhere you want," said my teacher, an elderly man with a mirror and I walked to the far end.
I must say that Mr. Flores captured the interest of the students while teaching. He's good at it, actually. The discussion went well when the door was violently opened and five male students entered. No! They're the gorgeous gangsters from yesterday! How can I forget their korning name? Black Government. Duh! They could have used Puppeteers, Tomblrs, Fiery Glaciers, Blazing Dragons, Dark Fangs, Boys Generation, Wonder Boys, Super Juniors, Kattuns ... Uh! Sorry for that! It's kinda normal for me to make fun of high school gangs.
But what really caught my attention was the man in front of them. I did not see him yesterday. He got this messy, fashionable brown hair, tall, sharp nose, thin and reddish lips and those eyes ... mysterious brown eyes ... and dang it! How long have I been descriptive of a man's appearance? Oh, well, okay. Now. Tss.
"Freniere! Montreal! Sison! Lowe! West! For Heaven's sake! You're 45 minutes late!" Controlling the angry language of Mr. Flores them. Whoah! He really looked scary! If he had been my teacher in the first school I attended, I might have been sober and not kicked out. Oh, well! That was a bad imagination on my part and I'm a terrible liar even with this.
"Wow. It looks like you're new here. Aren't you getting used to it?" The bulky and black-haired man from yesterday asked. Though I'm not really appreciative of guys, I can't deny
the obvious that he's damn hot. He's more like an anime bishie with his hair and yeah, get up. They sat at the end. Those who moved voluntarily moved just for them. Weird. What do they have to manipulate the environment? Mr. did not answer yet. Flores and resumed the failed lesson.
I have not been their classmates yet, but some of them I have been facing in some subjects since yesterday. Whoah. For the first time I became invisible and normal, ah. I mean, I'm used to trying to be bullied, but it ends up being the one harassing them. And then I wonder why I kick-out, there's nothing wrong with self defense ...
It's already lunch time and I'm having pizza and coke on my tray, and well, chocolate bar and blueberry cheesecake. I'm heading to the far vacant table on the corner when Jamie and Mirden accompany me with their lunch trays.
"It's sad when no one has lunch at the same time," Mirden said with a smile.
I sighed. It looks like I can do nothing to drive away this nasty thing. I just had lunch quietly while the two were talking. Sometimes I answer their question, but do not celebrate because sometimes not often. And suddenly, tension embraced the cafeteria again. Ten gorgeous and hot members of Black Government came in, invading the center tables.
Only now do I see students capable of casting in-crowds on the center table. You know those bragging varsity players and cheerleaders. Oh, not cast at all, because some varsities seem to be with them and some cheerleaders are trying to flirt with them ... unsuccessfully. Particularly the one who looks like their leader. Even if he looks super hot to the nth level, you can feel in his aura that he is totally cold-hearted and arrogant.
"Remember them? Of course they are bound to be remembered ... so that you won't mess with them," Jamie said when he noticed where my vision was. Before I could tie my tongue, I asked what was in my brain.
"Who's that guy? He wasn't there yesterday." Gawd! This tongue must be punished. Tsk. How long have I been interested in someone's name? Or a man at that?
"He is Van Freniere. The leader of the Black Government. He was not there yesterday because it looks like he needs to fix something outside the school. Curse that guy! His family is damn rich and forbiddenly powerful!" Mirden replied.
"So is Zach Martinia. The leader of Dark Monarch. Well, all the main members of those two gangs, eh," Jamie replied.
"Looks like there is no Dark Monarch today here, ah. I heard that some of their members were beaten too much yesterday. It's obvious that the Black Government is more superior when the Mafia Boss informs the Freniere. But then, Van himself banned Mafia to invade school. "
I almost choked on what I found out about Mirden. Mafia? Okay, I maybe a bad-*** freak but I'm not stupid to do a crazy stunt against the Mafia ... But then, why should I be scared? Isn't the Mafia not going to interfere?
We parted when the bell rang and my next classes became normal and orderly. The serene calmness before a terrible storm comes. Oh, well, this is only my starting day so the signs that I will be expelled are not yet visible.
Last Subject- PE I felt a slight relief when I found out that Jamie was also my classmate ... and a little fear when the five members of the Black Government from my English class became my classmates again. They sure can manipulate their schedule so they stay together.
Girls are on black shorts and red shirts in this class. Boys are on black jogging pants and blue shirts. Montello seemed to love colors for their PE uniform. And the annoying, those gangster kids were just happy on their gangster outfits and lazily slumped down on the bleachers.
