Revenge Of The Chosen
Episode 1
One fine day, on a town farthest from the Central.
People of St. West merrily go about their day, when they heard the gallops and neigh of the approaching horses along with men in uniform.
Townspeople gather by the road, curious as to why the palace guards suddenly visited their town.
Palace Guard
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Palace Guard
Loyal people of Rose Kingdom!
Palace Guard
The Emperor has decided to take in an Empress, and every region is required to present a Lady to represent each region!
Palace Guard
The Lady chosen shall be expected to depart two nights from today!
Palace Guard
May our Kingdom be blessed!
Everyone answered by repeating their Kingdom’s chant.
As soon as the palace guards left, everyone gathered at their town hall to discuss.
Mayor
This is our chance to show our gratitude to the Emperor!
Mayor
We must send someone good so that it will greatly favor our town!
Townsperson
But Mayor, most of our Ladies have already taken a husband. We can not send someone who’s already—
Mayor
Shush! How hard can it be?
Townsperson
Ladies of eligible age have been married off this year Mayor. The teens are yet to train for household duties.
Mayor
But we need someone to represent our region.
Townsperson
Do we really need to?
Townsperson
I mean, our region is the poorest among the regions of this Kingdom.
Townsperson
It is doubtful that the nobles will choose someone from our region.
Townsperson
And besides...
Townsperson
I heard rumors that the Emperor has already been smitten with Lady Aria, the daughter of Duke Felix from The Central Region.
Mayor
We can’t not send someone.
Townsperson
Ha! I doubt our ladies will agree to go. For sure the selection for our representative will be filled with prejudice from the other noble representatives. Ugh!
Townsperson
Then let’s send someone who’s not from this town originally.
Mayor
How dare you! If we send someone who’s not of great quality, the empire will treat it as a challenge from us!
Townsperson
Of course we will send someone we all acknowledge!
Townsperson
Ha?! And who might that be?!
Everyone stay silent as soon as they heard her name.
They looked at him with frowned faces as they grimaced at the thought.
Mayor
You idiot! You want to send our angel. Our precious Luna to battle?! Have you gone mad!
Townsperson
Yeah! That’s the stupidest thing I have ever heard today!
Townsperson
Hey! I’m against this as well! I would have wanted to marry Luna if only she didn’t declare her intentions of not wanting to have relationships.
Townsperson
But she’s our only hope. And besides, you all agreed that the empire will not even look at our representative so Luna will still return to us after the selection is done.
Townsperson
As much as I don’t like it, he’s got a point Mayor.
The rest hesitated but agreed.
Mayor
Very well, I shall head for the church tonight.
Later that evening, as everyone from the church prepared to sleep, a coach from the town parked by the entrance.
Luna noticed that the Mayor was talking to Father Horace and decided to leave for she is not fond of eavesdropping.
As soon as she turned to leave, she immediately stopped.
Father Horace
Ah! Luna! There you are.
Luna
Good evening Father Horace. Mayor. *bows*
Mayor
Ah. Good evening Luna. It is nice to see you well.
Luna
And you as well Mayor.
Father Horace
Do you have time for us Luna? The Mayor have something to discuss with us.
Luna
I see.. Will the church office be a better venue Father?
Father Horace
Yes. Let’s go.
As they head for the church office, Luna felt uncomfortable about the Mayor’s presence.
She felt as if something big is about to happen and she’s afraid to know the details.
Its only been three years since she arrived at this town and even if she didn’t remember anything, the people adored her.
They’ve been nothing but friendly towards her and in that short amount of time, she became attached to them, especially the children from the church.
Luna got lost in her thoughts that she didn’t hear the calls of Father Horace and Mayor.
Luna
I’m sorry for spacing out Father. What is it that you wish to discuss with me?
Mayor
*clears throat* The Emperor expressed his wishes to have an Empress soon and asked the whole Kingdom for a Lady. It would be the town’s utmost gratitude if you were to represent our region for the selection.
Father Horace and The Mayor anxiously waited for an answer from Luna, who is currently devoid of emotion as she’s having a hard time processing what she was told.
Luna clenches her fist for a moment but then released it and looked at the them.
Luna
If I am good enough Mayor...then...
Luna’s voice trailed off as soon as Father and the Mayor celebrated her response.
Luna does not wish to represent the region but if its the only way to give back to the townspeople for their kindness, then Luna’s wishes aren’t that important, at least in her opinion.

Episode 2
The night of Luna’s departure for the Central came sooner than later.
Everyone wished Luna well and gave her encouragements and their support.
The smiles of the towns people slightly lessened the lonely feeling Luna’s been feeling since she agreed.
As she entered the coach provided by the Empire, the guard that opened the door and assisted Luna in riding was stunned with her elegance and beauty.
His eyes were glued to her, thinking how her regal beauty suited the coach well, like she was born to ride the Empire’s coach.
It took a few throat clearing from the coachman to get the guard moving.
As they reached the border, the coach stopped and a man with a dignified demeanor came in and sat across Luna.
Samuel
Good Evening Lady Luna. I’m Samuel Johanes. I will be accompanying your travels until we reach the Central.
As Samuel introduced himself, and his role on their journey, he couldn’t help but notice Luna’s composure.
Unlike the other women he accompanied for the last few days, Luna is composed, silent but attentive.
Even if he wanted to deny it, there was a strange regal vibe around her despite her obviously old and cheap clothes.
Samuel
Do you have any questions Milady?
Luna
Sir Johanes, I am grateful for the time you have given me despite my lowly origin. I pray for the safety of our travel.
Samuel was taken aback cause he was expecting an opportunistic attitude from someone who came from the poorest region.
Records always noted that representatives from St. West were always either pessimists or opportunists.
Their representatives for the Third Prince last year was an opportunist so Samuel’s a little confused.
Samuel
*clears throat* I... yes... well, uh. If you have questions regarding the selection Milady, please feel free to approach me.
Luna only replied with a courteous smile, then turned her attention towards the window.
Its Samuel’s first time to encounter a Lady who rarely speaks but emits such enchanting demeanor.
His eyes widened as he saw her eyes twinkle as they passed the bridge.
Samuel
Do you like the stars Milady?
The sound of Samuel’s deep, alluring voice brought Luna back to her senses.
She calmly turned her attention towards Samuel and looked at him in his eyes.
Luna
I do. But the moon is what always fascinates me.
Samuel
Ah.. Of course. It is your name.
Luna ended their brief conversation with a pleasant smile.
Samuel is a little troubled by the conversation ending too quickly. The selection for the Empress position is already beginning, and the first sifting is his duty to evaluate the Ladies’ personalities.
The journey was designed to travel around the Kingdom for a few days and push the Lady candidates out of their comfort zone to see whether they can be of any use for the Kingdom.
That’s why Samuel feels that this will be the most tiresome and hardest test he will ever conduct. He just can’t gauge Luna’s personality at a glance.
Thankfully, he has five more days to try.
Episode 3
Luna arrived at the seventh region the next day.
They’re currently staying at a local tavern away from the region’s city.
Samuel took Luna for dinner after they rested the whole day.
He wasn’t actually tired from the travel since he’s already used to it, but the lack of conversation made him a little sick.
Observing Luna in silence felt like he was being punished. Samuel’s talkative by nature but since he’s on duty, he can not speak freely.
Samuel
*knocks at the door of Luna’s room* Milady. I’ve come to collect you for our dinner.
After a few minutes, Luna came out dressed for dinner.
As they walked side by side, in silence, Samuel can’t help but internally groan. The silence is killing him.
Luna
I apologize for boring you Sir Johanes.
Samuel
Ah. N-Not at all Milady. It’s just... I didn’t expect Milady to be a woman of few words.
Luna
I wouldn’t dare speak rashly in front of my Examiner.
Samuel’s eyes widened as he doubted his ears for a moment.
Luna walked a few steps ahead of Samuel and turned around to face him.
Samuel scoffed then turned it into an amused chuckle while he combed his finger through his hair.
Samuel
Since when have you known Milady?
Luna
Since you entered the Coach.
Samuel
What gave me away then?
Luna
Most palace guards don’t have long, straight, shiny hairs.
Luna waited until Samuel let out his amusement.
Samuel
*clears throat and wipes tears from laughing too hard*
Samuel
Please forgive me for my insolence.
Samuel
I would like to ask you a few things, now that the cat’s out of the bag.
Samuel
What do you think of the Seventh region?
Luna
Given the state I saw when we arrived, I can say that they’re suffering from drought. Its saddening.
Samuel
Saddening? Their city’s still very much alive. Businesses are booming.
Luna
They are thanks to the visitors from other region and countries.
Luna
But the locals are suffering. I saw a child earlier by the alley. Looking helpless and hungry.
Samuel
Isn’t that just an isolated incident? Every region is bound to have such unfortunate incidents.
Luna
Isolated or not, every living creatures deserve to eat.
Samuel
I didn’t know Milady’s compassionate about the poor.
Luna
These are just mere words. I dare not call it compassion. Not when I’m not in a position to do something about it.
Samuel widened his eyes in shock from her words.
Samuel
Well, you have the opportunity to do something about it.
Luna gave Samuel a complicated smile.
They both went to a nearby restaurant to have their dinner.
After eating, Samuel walked Luna to her room and immediately wrote a report as soon as he reached his room.
He then sent his messenger bird along with a message to the palace as soon as he was done.
Morning came and as they hit the road once again, Luna noticed that the coachman changed his route.
Samuel
*smirks* How would you know that Milady?
Luna
I studied the Kingdom’s maps and roads.
Luna
We’re still headed for the palace but we’re now on a route that would reach the palace by sunset.
Samuel
So you were aware that we’ve taken a longer route before...
Samuel
What’s the harm in telling you...
Samuel
You passed the first sifting of the selection Milady. Congratulations.
Luna was not exactly thrilled.
Samuel
This is the first time that an examiner is uncovered.
Samuel
And going by the rules, once a Lady candidate uncovered the Examiner’s disguise, she’s deemed worth the position. Thus garnering an automatic pass.
Luna
I see. Please forgive me for bypassing the examination.
Samuel
N-no! Believe me, you deserve a place in the Palace.
Luna clenched her fist secretly.
She should be happy for the compliment but her heart feels empty.
She just hopes and prays that the other Ladies do better than her for the following exams.
