The wind howls like a soul in torment. Keith and I are racing along the rooftops. Clad in black, we are following a particularly nasty Lost who has been terrorizing the living since its departure.
As we perch up on the rooftop watching our prey he stops and looks around, his silver hair and ragged white clothes give evidence he is the one we are after. Satisfied that no one is watching he slips into an alley. Keith looks at me his green eyes glowing in the moonlight, and we both jump.
Dropping from the roof our feet touch the ground without a sound. A door is at the back of the alleyway with a fierce looking man guarding it. He holds out a hand to stop us as we show him our tattoos that show who we are.
There have been a string of murders in this club and we had been hired to put a stop to it. Since it was dealing with the Dark world we were sent in instead of the police. According to the witnesses, it seems like we were dealing with a recent Lost. Probably having died only a few weeks ago.
As we walk through the nightclub, I spot our target. As we approach him, a loud crash echos throughout the club signaling us to act, I drew my blade and stabbed the man in the chest. Blood flowing from the wound covers my flesh.
"I thought this one was supposed to be difficult," I laugh as I wipe the blood off my dagger "Didn't even need to use my Leem."
Keith just looks at me as he cleans the mess, then he says with his goofy smile back in place. Those pearly whites just go perfectly with his tan complexion and beach blonde hair. "We'd better get going otherwise Viky will get worried."
"You never let me have any fun, we could at least stay and listen to the show," He has finished cleaning up the mess as we get ready to leave. "Come on you goof just go get Viky and tell her we are going to listen to this song." I plead with him.
"Fine, but don't get too crazy." He sighs, I shoot my hand up in the air happily.
"Hurry or you'll miss the song, I'll get us drinks." I push him toward the door.
"Don't overdo it," He says.
"When have you ever known me to overdo it." I put my hands on my hips trying to play innocent. I was notorious for being wild in more than one way. Unfortunately, he doesn't buy my act.
"Jae," He raises his eyebrows bringing even more structure to his already chiseled face.
"Fine," I sigh in exasperation "Now go." He walks away to go get our fellow companion, Viky. Keith isn't usually like this he just gets very uncomfortable at parties and he doesn't like to leave me on my own. Usually, he is fun and goofy and just makes you want to hug him. He has been my best friend forever and I loved him to death. But I push those thoughts behind and make a beeline to the bar, it's time to party.
I walk over to the bar and order three shots of tequila. As I wait for the drinks a strange man walks up to me, he reeks of alcohol and is obviously drunk.
"Hey pretty lady, do you want to dance." His words are slurred as he touches my shoulder.
"No, I am just here to have fun with my friends," I say as I pick up our drinks, shaking his hand off my shoulder. I start to walk away but he grabs my waist.
"Honey if you didn't plan to party you shouldn't have dressed like that." He strokes my waist as he draws me close. "I mean that outfit just sticks to your frame, and it would be a shame if that beautiful body went to waste."
I struggle in his grasp, knocking his arms away in the process. "Sorry, but I don't want to party like that." I frantically walk away as he shouts after me. I navigate through the crowd to a table near the front of the stage.
I set down the glasses as I listen to music. Taking up the first glass I swallowed it in one gulp. Sour.
Looking for Keith and Viky, I drink the last two glasses. I don't see them so I get up and look around. I go up the stairs to get a better view. I look around as the music pounds on. I'm getting a little dizzy as I walk. I bump into a young man, he has pale blonde hair with sparkling green eyes, but what strikes me most is the sharp ears. He has ears like me.
"Sorry." He said as he walked on I just stand there staring at his back. He had the most smooth voice, like an angel. I shake my head to dismiss the thought.
When I get outside I lean against the wall and look up at the stars. My head hurts like I could fall asleep soon. Then I felt someone touch my chin and lift it. It's the man who had grabbed me in the club. This time he has a friend with him, he has brown hair and black eyes, he's kind of hot. Then he smiles and looks at my neck.
"Yep, it's her."
"He didn't tell us how hot she was."
"Well to be fair he hasn't seen her in years." He said as he looked at my face.
"Uh, can I help you two?" I said shaking off his hand. My head still groggy, I try to draw my dagger "Look I don't know who you are, but you have the wrong person." I struggle to stand properly. Before I take a step my legs give out.
"Damn, how much did you put in her drink, they're not supposed to be affected like this." He says as he picks me up.
"I split the whole bottle between the three drinks," The man sneers "I figured we could have some fun with her before we hand her over." He touches my shoulder and moves my sleeve so that my shoulder is exposed. "Hey hands off, he said no one touches her, she's his." I struggle to draw my dagger so I can get away from these men. I grasp the hilt and swing it into the man who is approaching me.
He screams as he sinks to the ground clutching his side where I had planted my blade. I release myself from the other man's grasp and put my hand all the wall to steady myself. Holding my blade I try to ward off the man. "Stay back, I warn you I am trained to use this as a weapon." I back up as he approaches me with a smirk on his face.
"Oh, you think you can hurt me. I am not afraid of you little girl." He reaches out to grab my wrist and I swing the blade up slicing his hand open. He winces and holds his hand. "Oh, you're in trouble now baby." He lunged and grabbed both my hands making me drop my dagger.
"Help!!" I scream before he covers my mouth with his bloody hand. The metallic taste of blood fills my mouth as I struggle to breathe through the overpowering smell.
"Honey, you better stay quiet, or I don't care who wants you." As my vision begins to blur I hear footsteps like a ringing bell as I see the man with sharp ears approach us. Then I'm on the ground gasping for breath as I reach for my dagger to replace it in its sheath. Trying to stand up I fall right back down. Sharp ears had knocked my captor out and bends in front of me. He puts his hands under me and scoops me up. Then the world goes dark.
As I open my eyes, an overwhelming light brings stabbing pain to them. My body feels weak and I have pains all over. Then the events of the previous night flood through my mind. That man must have brought me here.
Slowly sitting up I notice that my clothes have been changed and the blood has been scrubbed off my skin. The thought of that man doing this sends shivers through my body.
Carefully shifting off the bed and holding myself up, I notice I seem to be in an airy looking room. On the opposite side of the room, a large window shows that I'm somewhere in the woods.
Carefully walking, I find a small bathroom with a mirror. Looking in it I see that my platinum hair has been tinged red where the blood had been. My hair had always been thick and delicate, now it looked matted and worn. My shining silver eyes are also bloodshot as if I hadn't slept in days. I turn on the water and splashed my skin trying to make it feel fresh.
Suddenly I feel a presence, I look in the mirror and see that man standing right there. Turning sharply I found him to be standing inches from me. Upon seeing my reaction he grinned and placed a hand on the counter behind me. He moved his face closer to the point I could feel his breath on my nose. Trying to back up, I hit the counter. He has me cornered.
"Trying to escape, little girl, " he whispers into my ear. He looks almost amused. Almost.
"No, I am just trying to evaluate my condition, " I state matter-of-factly. I turn my head only for him to grab my chin and yank it back.
"Now now, it's not polite to not meet the gaze of the person talking to you, " he pouts shaking his finger back and forth like I'm some bad dog.
"It's hard to look you in the eyes when you are so close, " I am trying to catch my breath, I have never been this close to a man before, not even Keith.
The man smiles and backs away. "Sorry to have made you uncomfortable little girl, " He is now staring at me intently as if he is a lion stalking his prey. His golden eyes staring at me make me feel unnerved, he looks like a lion. I almost understand how my targets feel, and I don't like it.
"It's not particularly that I am uncomfortable, it's just that you caught me by surprise, " I retort trying to make it sound as if it doesn't bother me, but it does. "And also my name is not little girl, which I'm not."
He smirks as if this is funny. "Oh, really, then what shall I call you, " he says as if he was shocked my name isn't little girl. He leans in again and whispers "And with that figure, it's easy to assume you're a little girl."
My cheeks burn bright red. "How dare you, " I place my hands on his chest and shove. However, before I can push him back he has me pinned to the counter.
"Now that isn't very nice, now how would you like it if I push back." He grins and shoves me harder against the mirror. "Now, how should I deal with a little girl in my house."
My shoulder is in immense pain after being shoved into a wall twice in two days. I try to release myself from his grasp, but even with my special training, he is too strong. Trying to make him lose his concentration, I ask him a question "You have pointed ears, are you a Heathen?"
He just stands there looking shocked, then realizing he is letting his guard down, he strengthens his grip on me. "How do you know that word?" His voice hard, having lost all emotion.
"How do you think?" More of a jest than a question I want to see how much he himself knows.
Backing off he looks at me as if calculating whether or not I am a threat. "Don't push too far dear or you may end up getting hurt."
"I've already been hurt," he just looks at me as if he wants me to elaborate. Not answering he just backs away giving me one last look before exiting the room. When he shuts the door behind him I sink to the floor trying to maintain my stature. Breathe, just breathe. When I finally have myself composed I get back up tidying myself and changing back into my now clean clothes.
Making sure I have everything I came here with including my knife I carefully open the door making sure that man is not there. He isn't, I slip into the kitchen to find something to eat. I grab an apple and quickly finish it off so I can get out of here immediately.
I slowly make my way to the front door, making sure nobody hears me. Quietly I open the door and slowly close it, making no noise I turn around and dash into the woods to escape this house and that man.
