Queen Of Vampires And The King Of Witches

Their Fear

Marci sat down on the floor, it was nearly 6:30, sunrise. She leaned her back onto the wall and closed her eyes, letting the glow of the sun invade her eyelids. Her head drifted forward slightly towards a stray line of light, She hissed as she felt a burn on her cheek. Her attention drifted to her cat, Muffin, she called him, still asleep in his make-shift bed across the room. She recognized the small scar over his eye, a scar the villagers on the other side of the mountain gave him when he was a kitten, and all because he was a black cat. Muffin opened his green/yellow eyes and climbed out of bed, he walked over to Marci, who was on the other side of the room. He climbed into her lap and cuddled in her black wool sweater.

The sun was already a little bit above the horizon, she slowly carried her sleeping cat and placed him in his bed. She walked over to her slim black bed and lied down as a long dark shadow covered her.

......................

She could hear scratching, like claws against glass. The lid to her coffin slided off and she slowly stood up from her sleep. She could see a tint of the orange glow of the sun from a slit between her blinds. Muffin stood just outside her coffin, waiting for her to get up. She smiled and carried him.

"Good evening, Muffin." Marci said as she gave him a kiss on the head. She put him down next to her as he followed her to the kitchen.

"What should we have for dinner?" She opened her cabinet and looked among the cans of red tomato soup, apples and fish. Marci looked at Muffin who was staring at her with big green eyes.

"Maybe I should hunt today." Her Grey eyes glowed red, her shoulder length hair growed to reach her feet, and 2 teeth in her mouth sharpened.

"I'll be back in 20 Minutes." Marci kissed her cat's head again and went outside, locking the door as she left. She took a glance at her house. Its oak exterior, the dark wood accents and the black-out blinds that covered the windows. It was already dark outside. She could hear the nearby townsfolk shutting their doors and closing their windows in fear of the vampire that lived behind the mountain. She sighed and climbed up the steep walkway, her red boots splashing puddle after puddle.

It must've rained while I was still asleep. She thought. There was an aroma in the air, a smell that made her hands click and her eyes

glow. Prey. She climbed up the trail quickly trying to trace whatever scent she picked up, and there it was. A deer, standing around a small ridge on the mountain. She moved slowly towards it, her claws ached to dig into its flesh.

Pow!

She had the deer by the throat, her nails digging into its pulse as it flailed about helplessly, until it stopped moving. Red blood ran down her hand and nails as it bled out by the neck.

......................

Marci carried the carcass back to her house, she licked her claws that were covered with blood and dropped the deer's body on the floor. Muffin greeted her at the door but Marci immediately went to the bathroom to change. The smell of blood would attract all kinds of trouble. She took of her sweater and dropped it into the tub, inside it she put a few drops of different scents and water to get rid of the wreak of blood. She opened her closet and got out a red shirt and stepped outside.

Meow! Muffin cuddled her leg asking for her attention. She picked him up and hugged him to her chest.

"I'm back." Marci smiled at her cat. "C'mon I'll make dinner." She picked up the carcass and brought it to the basement, where she cut it up and rationed it for 2 months.

I should probably eat this first. She thought as she looked at the part of the neck she clawed. Marci went to her kitchen, bringing the deer's neck and roasted it.

"Hmm, would you like? Tomato soup or cat food today?" She asked Muffin, and she was answered with "Meow!" She grabbed different spices that included: salt, pepper, chili, and other herbs. Marci finished Muffin's food first, she placed it in a bowl and put it near the fireplace. She skinned the deer, cut up the flesh into small peices, and placed it over the stove to roast.

Encounter

Marci finished cooking her and Muffin's meal, she sat down, thanked the deer for providing her a meal and ate. she could see Muffin nibbling his food bit by bit as he always did.

THUMP! BANG!

Marci startledy jumped in her seat, her cat almost falling off the table in surprise. Something had dropped out of the sky or from the top of the mountain and hit her roof.

"What was that?" She asked to herself. She walked over to the porch and looked around. Hanging from the edge of her roof was a young human who had, presumably fell down from the ridge of the mountain.

"Are you alright?" Marci carried the human from her roof onto her wooden porch. From there she could see the human more clearly, he had jet black hair, fair skin and had a few bruises and scratches from the fall. He appeared to be unconscious. She could smell the blood coming from his wounds and immediately covered her nose. It would be troublesome if her instincts were to be triggered.

"Good God. How did this guy fall onto my roof?" She turned to her cat, who was just as confused of this stranger as she was.

She poked his face, wondering wether he was alive or not. Marci shrugged, laid out a mat on the floor and let the guy rest, While she and Muffin finished their meal.

......................

The stranger opened his eyelids slowly, The orange glow of the early sunset was peeking out through a slit in the dark blinds. He felt something lick his ear, he turned and saw a black cat staring back at him, its green eyes looking at his.

"Uh, Hi?" He said awkwardly. He had nothing else to say, after all, the one he was talking to was a cat. He tried to get up, but then a stabbing pain hit him in the head.

"Ah!" He yelled in pain. The cat climbed over him, making him lie back down, and rested on his stomach. He saw it as a way of giving this man the mercy of not killing himself with pain.

"I guess, I'll just lie here then." He carefully looked around, trying not to disturb the sleeping cat. Around him was a very peculiar space, there was a door right next to the kitchen, the dining table was in an open space with a couch and a black coffin.

When he was sure the cat was asleep he carefully picked it up from his stomach and took a look at it's glass collar. Muffin. It read. He carefully set Muffin down on the mat and proceeded to look around. He entered the bathroom inspecting himself. Gold eyes, jet-black hair, and fair white skin covered in bandages.

"What happened?" He looked at himself, his rib was wrapped in a bandage, so was his head and arm. He tried to remember what happened before he woke up in this strange house, he remembered being chased, people shouting his name and throwing rocks at him, before he fell and that was all he could remember. He went outside wearing a white collared shirt that he had found lying around, surprised that it had even fitted him. He walked outside to find and unfamiliar girl, holding Muffin and looking at him curiously.

"Um, good evening?" He greeted awkwardly.

"Good evening." She replied.

His eyes darted from back to back not knowing where to look, the girls eyes were partly covered and all he could see was a dim grey glow.

"You are?" He asked expecting a reply. The girl turned and headed towards her stove. He took a step backwards fearing that she might have gotten a weapon. Instead she asked: "Tea or coffee?"

He was at a loss for words. That was the least he had expected her to say.

"Uh, tea?" He replied as he sat down on the couch, Muffin following and sitting next to him. She took a tea tray, which held a teapot, a sugar cup and 2 teacups.

"Um, miss?" He looked at her trying to find her eyes. She looked up at him with her dark grey eyes and he shuddered.

"M-may I a-ask your n-name?" He stuttered. She lifted her gaze once more and leaned back against her red sofa.

"Marcilyn Gardner." She replied, with a sigh. "You are?" He flinched and straightened his posture, Marcilyn's scary gaze still locked.

"L-Luther Grey." He said.

Hmm, stumbly. Won't do me any good if he stays here, and i can almost bet those golden eyes are gonna bring me trouble. She thought.

"Where are you from?" Marci asked, taking a sip from her teacup.

"I live on top of the mountain."

Marci froze. Impossible. She assured herself.

Its absolutely impossible. She kept repeating to herself.

"What did you say your last name was?"

"Grey." Luther responded, not thinking much about it.

Grey. this boy, who looks more like he belongs in the town, is in my house and is claiming that he is from the Grey bloodline. How peculiar. She thought to herself. Marci stood up and headed to check if darkness had completely touched the land and if the townsfolk had already closed up for the night.

She headed for her coat rack and grabbed the darkest cloak she had.

"Follow me." Marci said sternly.

......................

Luther followed Marci obediently, through the lush forest and away from her house.

"Where are we going?" He asked. She didnt reply, she just kept following the path towards a small patch of torches.

"Follow this path and you'll reach town, they'll take care of you there." Marci said not even looking at him, from what he could see, all she cared about was getting him out of here as quick as possible.

He looked through the tunnel, where it led, it twisted and turned towards the village on the other side of the mountain. Suddenly a flash of memory came back.

SPLASH!

Luther fell on his knees. Flashes of the scene that had happened just before he fell from the mountain; being chased by a mob of people holding torches and pitchforks, shouting the word "Witch! Witch!" again and again, rocks being thrown at his back and head. He trembled on the floor trying to get back up. Marci came in the tunnel right behind him to see what the noise was about and found him clinging onto the ends of her cloak, looking more desperate than she had ever seen anyone.
