"What" my mother said in an angry tone "if you don't like our daughter then leave" he continued "how dare you tell your mate.." "were not mates and you know it Anna" my dad interrupted "we both know you killed both of our mates" he said in once again a calm tone "so what if I did..."

My Alarm went off waking me up from my memory/dream it was 6:00am and a Friday, it was also my 18th birthday.

which means today I would be able to find my mate. my dad always told me that the mate bond was amazing at least the small chance he had of it was.

in all honesty though mate bond or not I always thought my mother was right about one thing and that was that I was meant to be alone.

at this point I wouldn't be surprised if he just rejected me.

after a few minutes laying in bed thinking to myself, I finally decided to get up and get ready for the day.

I took a quick shower then put on a black tang top and some jeans and before running out the door put on my brown leather jacket and walked out the door.

I got into my crimson red truck and drove to school, it took about 15 minutes to drive there and by the time I got there it was already 7:15.

I parked my truck and went to grab my books from my locker I looked around and saw all the Valentine's day decorations set up and it was only the beginning of February.

to be exact it's February 5th AKA my b-day.

as I was grabbing my books I smelled the most wonderful smell so I grabbed my books and followed it.

I followed the amazing smell past the cafeteria and up to the second floor I mostly only saw the future beta and his friends he turned to look at me and I bowed my head down, not wanting to make eye contact.

he made his friends leave and before I knew it walked over to me the sweet smell of my mate coming closer was like heaven.

but I knew exactly what he was coming over to do "Selena" he said nervously "I-I didn't expect you to be my mate" he continued.

"I guess neither of us did" I replied "I'm really sorry Selena but I..." "I know" I interrupted "just get it done and over with"

I had already prepared myself for him to say it but for some reason it still hurt so much "I Brian Fox reject you as my mate..." he said those words and it was as if a switch went off my heart started to ache and I could only say back "I Selena woods Accept your rejection"

I said back to him tears forming in my eyes.

before either of us could say another word I ran back down stairs to the main office, I couldn't continue the day it hurt to much, which in all honesty I didn't understand because I already knew it would happen I walked fast out of the main office and bumped into someone.

"hey watch were your going bitch" A girl said pushing me to the ground "let's teach her a lesson" another said after they decided they started to kick and punch me the only thing I could think to do was protect my head while curling into a ball "c'mon bitch don't just lay there get up" the girl who was kicking me said.

"Hey what's going on here" I heard an unfamiliar voice say "we were punishing her for bumping into us al.." each other justify their actions but were snapped at before they could finish "How dare you" the unfamiliar voice snarled "get to class I'll deal with you later" he continued the girls ran away and he walked over to me.

I slowly got up to my feet but fell down again in complete pain, my vision was blurry and I could barely make out the face in front of me.

"Hey be careful" he said picking me up "let's get you to the infirmary" he continued "thanks for all your help but I can go myself" I said to him at the same time griping his shirt.

"Yeah sure I'll believe that when pigs fly, your way to injured to stand up you wouldn't make it far" he said to me "do you have a mate" he asked "they can help with the healing process "nope I don't have a mate" I replied he looked down in pity "alright just get some rest.

Without even realizing it I fell asleep in his arms I woke up to talking in the infirmary "shes pretty beat up and I don't have the equipment to heal her it also seems like her wolf is weak most likely from rejection" I heard someone say.

I slowly got up still in complete pain as I saw the the person who brought me here my eyes widened with shock.

"Zack!" I said in a shocked yet pain driven voice he turned around to look at me and ran over to me "Selena you should be laying down your pretty badly injured" he said to me worriedly.

I couldn't believe it, not only did the future Alpha save me but he also knew who I was.

"you should probably take her to the pack doctor zack" the nurse said, zack nodded then picked me up "hey what're you..." I'm taking you to the hospital. he said "I-I can take myself" I stuttered "I don't want you to miss class because of me" I said more to him.

"don't worry about me,last I checked your more important right now" I was shocked by what he had just said no one had ever actually cared about me like that before except my dad.

he walked down the hall and as he did we heard a voice from behind us. "What happened to her" the voice said he turned around and saw that it was Brian.

"she was getting beat up and I saved her the nurse said that they don't have the supplies to heal her so I'm taking her to the hospital" zack replied to him. "give her to me I'll take her so you don't miss class" he replied.

I clenched up and I know zack could tell and started to hold me a little tighter. "no it's fi..." he said until I interrupted by getting out of his arms.

"I will go my self" I said limping slowly away, zack ran behind me and scooped me up in my arms "hey what are you..." "I'm taking you your in no condition to drive" he interrupted "but what what about my truck?" I said trying to convince him.

"I'll have Brian bring it to the pack house or something." he replied, I rolled my eyes I knew wouldn't win that argument.

after a minute we got to his blue Ford focus and he laid me in the passenger seat closed my door and got in on the driver side.

he started to drive and we sat in silence for a bit until he decided to break the silence "so what's up with you and Brian" he asked keeping his eyes on the road.

"what do you mean" I asked looking out the window "it's obvious something happened between you two" he said to me "I-I don't think he wants anyone to know" I replied.

"probably but I can't help you unless I understand what's wrong" he said in a nice way I took a deep breath "he was my mate... but he rejected me." I said to him.

he immediately stopped the car and looked at me "please tell me your joking" I looked in his eyes and didn't say a word "your not..." he started moving the car again and took a deep breath.

"how are you ok" he asked sounding confused

"I-I don't know" I replied, we spent the rest of the car ride in silence after a few minutes we got to the hospital, he parked the car and and got out to come around and help me out.

he opened my door and picked me up taking me into the emergency room. they put us in a room and we continued to sit in awkward silence.

"you know you don't have to stay with me" I said sitting in a chair because it was comfier then the bed, "your mate is probably worried about you" I continued he looked down "my mate actually died" he replied I looked up at h and could see the pain written on his face "I'm so sorry" I replied "what about you" he said "aren't your friends wondering where you are right now".

he asked me, in the same way I responded "I don't have any" he looked up at me shocked like I did him "none?" he said as a question "none" I replied.

a second later the doctor came in "hello you must be Selena" the doctor asked I nodded, the doctor was a tall beautiful brunette with tan skin and hazel eyes and she looked about 28.

"I'm Dr. johnson pack doctor and head of the hospital it's a pleasure you meet you" she said in the nicest tone she keeled down to get to my level "so what happened here?" she asked I looked away "she was beat up by some wolves at school" zack said.

"I see" Dr. johnson said getting up "well let's get you checked out so we can find the best way to heal you" she continued.

it took about an hour to examine me to find all the damages to my body the doctor also found out that one reason I wasn't healing properly was because I was rejected and my wolf was weak because of that.

eventually the doctor left the room again which left Zack and I alone once again "I'll be your friend" he said randomly out of the blue "What" I said not really understanding "I'll be your friend" he said again "well you had said earlier that you didn't have any so I will be your friend" I smiled "I said that like an hour ago, have you been waiting that long to say that to me?" I asked.

he chuckled a little "yeah I may have been waiting to say it" with that all I could do was chuckle a little....

I had met Selena years ago through her father, her father was my father's Delta so he was basically the one who traveled to other packs as our representative.

I met her once when we were both 8 she seemed sad buy for some reason our wolves had taken a liking to each other after that we never really saw each other again I had forgotten about her over the years untill I earlier.

I didn't expect it to be her I was going to class when I saw some girls beating someone up "c'mon bitch don't just lay there get up" I heard a girl yell.

"Hey what's going on here" I said and the girls turned around "we were punishing her for bumping into us al.." the one girl said but I snapped back interrupting her "How dare you" I didn't know why but I was pissed, I then took a breath to calm my self "get to class I'll deal with you later" I said and the girls ran away,

After they left I ran over to her and realized it was Selena she slowly got up to her feet but fell down again in wincing in pain.

when the doctor finally left and we we're alone again I told her that I would be her friend, she was so confused I couldn't help but chuckle, but she did to and she accepted me as her friend.

we spent the next few minutes waiting for the doctor talking and getting to know each other I found out a lot about her like her favorite colors were red and black and how her mother had hated her for no reason.

after a few minutes Dr. Johnson came back into the room. "ok so I think I've roughly rounded everything with you" she said "How bad" Selena asked sounding kinda nervous "Well Selena you have 4 broken ribs, a slight concussion, a sprained ankle and that's not even the jist of it" she said reading off her clip board.

"I'm gonna give you a shot before you leave to help with the heal it will make you pretty tired bit don't worry that's normal" Selena nodded and Dr. johnson gave her the shot and a little while later we she was discharged with a note that said to stay by her side till she is healed...
