CHAPTER 1

        Walking along the halls and hearing His Majesty’s voice in the distance, I knew this was going to be an important day. All his subjects lined up like a death row under the cold and murdering gaze of the current King.

        - “Even in his portraits he looks scary” I said to myself and kept on walking.

        I was going to stay at the reunion but I sincerely didn’t know how I would be of any use, after all I’m way too young to contribute in any kind of way.

        - “The reunion might end pretty late, so I will settle with just seeing His Majesty’s face in the-” I couldn’t finish my interior monologue when I heard the commotion.

        His cape dancing in the distance and those cold blue eyes that could freeze the very own sun.

        - “Your Majesty” I salute.

        - “Don’t you know I was lonely! Don’t leave me alone again you idiot!” he yelled a little bit embarrassed and took me back to the reunion over his shoulder.

        That was indeed a really rare situation and I couldn’t help hearing the guards running after His Majesty with awe thinking he was about to murder someone, but when they noticed it was me they could finally relax a little.

        - “It’s not that I wanted you in this reunion but not having you nearby makes me anxious. So sit right here and eat this cake”

        - “Oh, so there was cake!”

        - “Only for you, the rest will have to starve until the reunion ends”

        - “Your Majesty” I said while holding his sleeve and with my eyes full of determination “Don’t starve your people”

CHAPTER 2

        It all started over a year ago, far away in the countryside. Like always, I was helping Papa and Mama with the field. We were harvesting three different kinds of strawberries that year, weren’t we diligent? I must say the sight was undoubtedly delicious! And that’s when I saw him for the first time. I’d heard about His Majesty, Prince Albert Magnolia the 3rd, before but it was just through gossip or those tales midwives tell when they are bored. We were indeed a really small community. It was also the first time I saw such a distinguished horse. I was certainly excited but at the same time scared, what was the future King doing in my parents’ modest farm so far away from the capital? Well, the answer was already spread there in front of me when the Prince ordered to talk to me instead of the adults. That definitely surprised me!

        - “Greetings Milady” he said while elegantly getting off the horse “I shall introduce myself” he said kneeling before me, which made me really uncomfortable (you are going to be the King! Don’t kneel after a peasant!) “My name is Albert Magnolia the 3rd, future King of this kingdom”

        - “It’s a- It’s a pleasure your Majesty” I said trying to curtsy but it was impossible with my dirty hands, on that muddy field, while not wearing any shoes or even a skirt! Of all days, the prince had to visit on the day I was wearing my old tattered pants...

        - “I know you, little lady” he said holding my hand and kissing it softly, like it wasn’t dirty at all.

        - “Your Majesty, you really didn’t have to-“

        - “But I wanted to, after all, milady, you are-“

        - “No, Your Majesty. That hand is covered in fertilizer”

And as if I had jinxed it, His Majesty soon had the urge to vomit and ended up staying in the farm for one night.
