Jaxon Lunarbriar stared at the western calendar hung on the wall. It would soon be the enlistment for young dragon mage for twelve years children. Soon, he was going to be enlisted."if father can come home quickly ihave to remind him, he forgets things easily ".Just as he thought that, he felt a pang of guilt for he knew his father was always busy. As a dragon mage rider captain for two hundred ,he should be busy. And one day he will become general of thousands. He bubbled with excitement just as he thought of the dragon he will soon be bonded with. Any strong dragon will do
He moves towards his room window and opened it. He cast a glance at the back yard garden that bordered his room. It was indeed a perfect scenery at night and it was just perfect with the moonlight illuminating the whole place. The garden flowers, the fire flies, they made it all beautiful. He looked towards the full yellow moon. He was soon lost but there was nothing he thought, just looking at the moon. He felt a cold shiver down his spine
"was there something happening "he thought but before he could complete his thoughts, the cold wind blew into his room through the opened window blowing off the candle lights he had placed on four ramps on different positions of his room
He quickly closed the windows, using his memory to trace back the ramps in his room. He used the flints next to the candle and struck it against a steel bar he held.it caused a spark and lit up the candle ,he did that one after the other bringing the room back to life again.what a strong wind, he thought. He sat on his mattress holding onto his necklace he wore, calminghimself.
It was a protection necklace given to him by his father when he was nine. But unfortunately it had shown no signs of having supernatural powers. A normal protection necklace would cost golds for such antiques were rare and very powerful and he always wore it to not hurt his father's feeling.
His father didn't get much from his job as captain and it wasn't even expected he would be granted a third rank nobility after he became captain. (the lowest noble rank)
Jaxton stared at the wall of his room. It was designed to his taste as it had a marvellous painting of a dragon on the wall. The wall at the bedside had a historic painting that depicts when Erenarus, the first dragon mage united Riwen together from scattered clans of the south.
One day, he would become a strong dragon mage and he would battle the orc riders. He smiled at this and also hoped to change his nobility rank .
Soon enough, there was a knock on the door. It must be sir Anold. The old man as always knocked on the door to either tell him to come down for his meal or to tell him his father was back. He had taken care of him since he was little after his mother died during his birth. He always saw him as his second father.
Soon enough, he opened the door and rushed down the stairs feeling excited. He came down to the living room. The living room was spacious and had three cushion chairs, one facing forward and two facing each other side ways. At the centre of the room was a wooden table and a chair beside it basically for him. At the other side of the living room was the dinning table.
Jaxton looked towards the door and was filled with terror. His father was actually holding sir Anold in a choke hold and his legs were raised high and dangling above the ground. Immediately, his threw sir Anold and he crashed into the wall of the dinning .He lay there with out moving and his father turned to him.
Immediately, his father rushed up to him and flung him away like a piece of paper. He crashed to the wall near the stairs. It ached so much .His father walked towards him were he lay. He saw his eyes more clearly now. They were shining black and his irises were red. This was really not his father. His military uniform was stained with blood. A man came out of the corner of the room. He wore a black tunic hood and held a black grimoire swimming in tendrils of dark colour.
"kill him " the man said silently but audibly. He resonated in terror, "what was going on with his father " he thought "father don't do it! " he yelled. It was obvious his father was under the strange man's spell. He wanted to stand up but his back won't move. His father moved closer to him and held high his hand and black wisps filled it. Immediately, the door barged open and men and women rushed in. They wore uniforms of soldiers. Some of them held arrows and held it ready to launch. A man in a uniform like his father came in.
It was his father's friend, Cospian "how come "he thought .He yelled no but he took no heed. Cospian made a motion with his hand for the soldiers to launch their arrows in assault. It left their bows so fast and it was already piercing his father. He fell immediately and touched Jaxton's hand. His eyes no longer resonated like they did before. It was already normal
"Run" his father said a little audible for him to hear. Immediately, he gave up the ghost. "No, father , no!! ".He screamed with all his might but more arrows rained. But there was one thing that was strangest of all, the strange man had disappeared. Luckily for Jaxton, his father had drew a rune on his palm before he died. When Cospian left, the soldier shot an arrow that had fire at its tip. It struck the wooden wall and it began to burn, just then the soldiers left and the burning grew more and more. It burnt the house until smoke filled the area.
It filled his nostrils that he was unable to breathe properly and he gasped then lost consciousness
