Reborn In Struggle
Mission Suicide
The wind was a mournful hymn at this altitude, whipping past Kim Taehyung as he stood on the razor's edge of oblivion.
The city lights far below were like scattered diamonds on a bed of black velvet, beautiful and utterly indifferent.
In his hand, a book—a tale of fated lovers and triumphant heroes.
After a brutal betrayal ends her life, the protagonist awakens in the past, granted a chilling opportunity by Fate to correct her fatal mistakes and exact a calculated revenge on those who wronged her.
Protagonist
"I am back in the past. Now I will seek revenge."
The fantasy felt pathetic. With a sudden, violent roar of anguish, he hurled the book into the void.
Omega
"This!" (he screamed, the sound tearing from his throat.) "This is what gives people false hope! It's all a beautiful, poisonous lie!"
The silence that pressed in was heavier than any sound, a physical weight confirming his absolute insignificance.
Despair, thick and suffocating, rose within him.
Omega
(Shouting with every fiber of his being, a final, desperate challenge to the uncaring universe) "CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? I WANT TO DIE!"
The silence roared back, louder than his shout.
It was the final answer. His shoulders slumped, the last of his strength leaving him.
Tears, hot and shameful, began to carve paths down his cold cheeks.
Omega
(Choking on his sobs, he crumpled inward, speaking to the ghosts of his past) "Why... why did my life turn into this mess? How do I survive this?"
Alpha
"You won't have to."
The voice was deep, calm, and came from the darkness directly behind him.
Before the omega could even process it, a powerful arm hooked around his waist, yanking him backward with brutal force.
He flew off the railing, landing in a graceless, painful heap on the cold concrete.
Gasping for air, he scrambled back, his heart hammering against his ribs.
A figure emerged from the shadows, silhouetted against the city's glow.
A man, tall and impeccably dressed in a dark coat that seemed to drink the moonlight.
He wasn't a phantom, but he felt just as ominous.
Alpha
(He stepped into the dim light, his face a mask of cold, detached annoyance. His eyes, dark and piercing, scanned the omega not with concern, but with disdain.) "Do you mind? Your screaming is disturbing the peace."
The omega could only stare, shock and indignation momentarily staunching his tears.
This wasn't a savior; this was an aristocrat looking down on a nuisance.
Omega
(Voice trembling with a mix of rage and humiliation) "Who are you?! You... you're here for the same reason, aren't you? Why stop me?"
A while lotus
His lip curled slightly. He didn't answer, instead pulling a silver case from his pocket and lighting a cigarette. The flame illuminated his sharp features for a moment.
Alpha
"Is my purpose any of your business? You'll be dead soon anyway. A few more minutes of patience would have spared us this conversation."
The sheer, icy arrogance of it shattered omega's self-pity, replacing it with a burning anger.
Omega
"I have a right to know if your tragedy is grander than mine! Let me hear it! Let me die knowing someone has it worse!"
Jungkook took a long drag, the ember glowing brightly in the darkness.
He exhaled a plume of smoke that curled between them like a specter.
Alpha
"My childhood love. The woman I built my world around. Is marrying my brother tonight."
His voice was flat, devoid of emotion.
Alpha
"Her last words to me were that my love felt like a cage. That she was afraid of me."
Omega
(A bitter, broken laugh escaped him.) "And? That's it? You're going to jump over a woman with the emotional depth of a puddle?"
Alpha
(His cold eyes narrowed dangerously.) "She is an orphan. She has lived in my house, eaten my family's food, been protected by my name since she was a child. There is no corner of my life she does not inhabit. Now, she will be my sister-in-law. A permanent fixture in my personal hell."
Omega
"So she's a villain! A 'white lotus'! All fake innocence while she stabs you in the heart!"
Alpha
(His gaze flicked to the edge where the book had disappeared.) "A fanciful term. I'd expect nothing less from a reader of cheap fiction."
The insult, so precise and condescending, was the final straw.
Taehyung surged to his feet and shoved Jungkook hard in the chest.
Omega
"How dare you! You think you're better than me?"
Alpha
(He didn't even stagger. He simply straightened his coat, his expression turning thunderous.)
Alpha
"You have no idea who you are dealing with. There are people in this city you should never lay a hand on."
Omega
(Spreading his arms wide, a picture of mad defiance) "Then kill me! Do it yourself! It's better than the concrete down there! Go on! Or do you only threaten people from the shadows?"
The air crackled with hostile energy.
For a moment, it seemed he might actually take him up on the offer.
Instead, he took a step closer, invading the omega's space.
Alpha
"Fine. You've stalled your death. Now earn it. Tell me your pathetic story. What brings the great tragic hero to the ledge?"
A mutual death
The fight drained out of the omega as quickly as it had come.
He looked down, his voice dropping to a whisper.
Omega
"My boyfriend. In my apartment. With my cousin." (He took a shaky breath.) "My uncle used the scandal to seize everything my parents left me. Every last penny. I have nothing. No home. No future. Nothing."
Alpha
(He let out a short, derisive laugh.) "That's your epic tragedy? You're not a victim of fate; you're a coward. You had a legacy and you let them steal it. You're not jumping because you lost everything; you're jumping because you don't have the spine to take it back."
Omega
(Eyes blazing with fresh tears of fury) "AND YOU?! You're the CEO of a conglomerate and you're going to splatter yourself on the pavement because a girl broke your heart? You're not a tragic lover; you're a fool dying for other people's happiness!"
The accusation hung in the air for a split second before his fist connected with the omega's jaw.
The omega stumbled back with a cry, then launched himself forward.
It wasn't a fight; it was a cathartic explosion—a brutal, clumsy release of all their pain, anger, and humiliation.
They grappled, grunting and swinging, until they both collapsed to the ground, panting and bruised, the fire in them spent.
The silence returned, but it was different now. Cleansed.
Slowly, the omega pushed himself up, touching his bleeding lip.
He looked at Alpha, who was staring at his own scraped knuckles as if seeing them for the first time.
Omega
(Voice quiet, but clear) "You're right."
Alpha
(He looked up, his cold mask gone, replaced by a raw, weary clarity.) "And so are you."
Omega
"The man I was... he died here tonight."
Alpha
"A mutual death, then."
The omega stood and walked over, offering a hand.
This time, it wasn't a challenge. It was a pact.
Kim Taehyung
"So... partner. What do they call you? I'm Kim Taehyung."
The Alpha looked at the offered hand, then up at Taehyung's face. A slow, genuine smile, the first of the night, touched his lips.
He took the hand, his grip firm and decisive.
Jeon Jungkook
"Jeon Jungkook."
Kim Taehyung
(His eyes widened, the name hitting him like a physical blow.) "Jeon... Jeon Jungkook? The billionaire?"
Jeon Jungkook
(A low chuckle.) "The very same."
A wild, cunning light sparked in Taehyung's eyes.
In his place stood someone with nothing left to lose and everything to gain.
Kim Taehyung
"A man of your resources... Partner, I have a business proposition."
Jeon Jungkook
"I'm listening."
