The very fact why girl like me and would kill just to get on my bed is because I'm filthy rich, have glorious good looks, and because I am a descendant of one of the known legends, Emily Descart. But why is it that she'd rather be half across the world away from me?

"No! I refuse to accept this.” She shakes her head fiercely, eyes gazing at me like I was a monstrous predator.

"Honey, this alliance is what your grandfather would like.” His father smiles naively, gesturing at me while I sit down their couch to meet my betrothed.

"Don't talk as if he is already dead. Call Grandpa and tell him that Lia will be the one to marry this douchebag,” she thunders and overpowers her own father.

I blink in disbelief of what I am hearing. Is this really her? The girl I'm engaged to? Despite her straight black hair reflecting the light and her sparkling blue eyes as clear as water, she has the behavior of an arrogant fool. I might as well agree to her statements since her attitude isn't much of what I like in a girl.

"What are you looking at?” She glares at me. "Don't you know that's rude?”

At least she has some manners, though I still don't like how she acts and the sharp tone at every turn of her voice.

"Give me at least five reasons why you want to break off this engagement,” I demand as I fold my arms across my chest.

She raises an eyebrow, scoffing. Her sapphire orbs roll around before it darts back to me. The girl sits down across the room while her father leaves awkwardly. She crosses her legs with intense eyes narrowing down at me. An icy stare freezes me in place, her face screwing up and lips automatically curl downwards.

"One, I don't know you.” She squints at me and I only squirm in my seat feeling the uneasiness devouring my heart little by little.

I answer in hope she would accept it immediately, "Then let's get to know each other.”

"Two, we haven't dated.” In the three years we are engaged, one of us didn't exert the effort to at least meet up with the other one.

"Why not now?” I shrug my shoulders in saying my suggestion yet she completely disregards it.

"Three, four, you look stupid and that silver hair of yours make you look old.” Her nose crinkles in disgust. If I were not a gentleman, I would have already landed my fist to the bridge of her nose.

"I do not look stupid, and silver is my natural and the very coolest hair color, if I may add,” I retaliate, banging my hand on the table in front of me. My jaw clenches and nostrils dilate in fury.

"Says who? And if you so ever say that's it's you, then go f*** yourself, you narcissist!”

Dumbfounded, I itch to get my hands around her neck and squeeze it so hard to strangle the girl for insulting me.

"Five,” she continues, "I don't like you. You are surrounded by girls all the time, worse than that, you even entertain them. I'm sorry but I can't have someone like that to be a husband. I need someone who will love me for me, not because of some lousy alliance between families as requested by our grandparents. You're not the one for me.”

Slowly, my anger dies down. My cheeks flaring in anger turns into shame, remembering what I have done in the past that led me to this very moment of rejection. I can see why she declined. I can see how disappointed she is to find out that her fiance is a jerk. I can see she reasonable enough and I am the one who's misunderstanding things.

"Then let's break it off.”
