The bass thumped through the floor of the exclusive club, but Jeon Jungkook barely noticed. He was used to noise, to lights, to people clamoring for his attention. What he wasn’t used to—was her.
She moved like time bent for her. Min Aera.
Tall. Elegant. Forty, though she wore it like royalty.
“Jeon Jungkook,” he said, holding out his hand.
“Aera,” she replied, her voice low and unbothered. “I know who you are.”
He smirked. “Everyone does.”
“But I don’t care.”
That stopped him. That intrigued him. And just like that, something began.

Jeon Jungkook, a 32-year-old wealthy and successful businessman, lives a life filled with luxury and attention. One night at an exclusive club, he meets Min Aera, a stunning and elegant woman of 40. Sparks fly between them, and soon their whirlwind romance to an engagement.
Min Aera, recently divorced, brings her 16-year-old daughter, Min Y/N, into this new chapter of her life. Y/N has been struggling emotionally since the separation from her father, whom she deeply loved and never wanted to leave. The divorce shattered her world, and being taken away from her father by her mother left her feeling angry, hurt, and betrayed.
Now, Aera is taking Y/N to meet Jungkook for the first time — her soon-to-be stepfather. of the life she never asked for.

“Why are you doing this to me?” Min Y/N’s voice cracked as she shoved another sweater into the suitcase. “I don’t want to go.”
“Y/N, please,” Aera sighed, her hands tightening around the edge of the doorway. “Just meet him. He’s going to be a part of our lives.”
“I didn’t ask for this!” Y/N snapped, eyes blazing. “I wanted my dad. Not some rich stranger in a penthouse.”
Aera knelt beside her, voice trembling. “You think I wanted any of this? The divorce? Watching you cry yourself to sleep? I’m trying to fix things.”
Y/N jerked away. “You’re not fixing anything. You’re replacing dad.”

Jungkook is taken aback when he sees Y/N; her presence stirs something unexpected in him. Y/N, too, feels an unexplainable tension, but it’s mixed with resentment. In her eyes, Jungkook is part of the reason she lost her family — a symbol
Min Aera] (smiling, holding Y/N’s shoulder gently)
“Y/N, this is Jungkook. I know this is a lot, but I really want you two to get along.”
[Jungkook] (stands up from the sofa, eyes locked on Y/N for a brief moment before composing himself)
“Hey, Y/N. I’ve heard a lot about you. It’s nice to finally meet you.”
[Y/N] (crosses her arms, keeping her tone cold)
“Wish I could say the same.”
[Min Aera] (glares slightly at Y/N)
“Y/N…”
[Jungkook] (raises a hand gently)
“It’s okay. She has every right to be upset.”
[Min Aera] (smiling, holding Y/N’s shoulder gently)
“Y/N, this is Jungkook. I know this is a lot, but I really want you two to get along.”

[Y/N] (crosses her arms, keeping her tone cold)

[Min Aera] (glares slightly at Y/N)
“Y/N…”
[Jungkook] (raises a hand gently)
“It’s okay. She has every right to be upset.”
[Y/N] (bitterly)
“Upset? I didn’t ask for any of this. You’re not my dad, and you never will be.”
[Jungkook] (nods, voice calm)
“I know. And I’m not trying to replace him. I just hope we can... maybe start over someday. As people who respect each other.”
[Y/N] (avoids eye contact, looking out the window)
“I don’t even know who you are. You just showed up and turned everything upside down.”
[Min Aera] (frustrated, yet trying to keep peace)
“Y/N, we’ve talked about this. I made choices for both of us, and—”
[Y/N] (cuts her off)
“No. You made choices for yourself. And now I’m stuck here with someone I don’t trust… and a life I didn’t choose.”
[Jungkook] (quiet for a beat, then gently)
“You can hate me if you want. Just don’t shut yourself away from everything. You’re stronger than that.”
(Y/N’s expression wavers slightly, but she says nothing and walks off to explore the rest of the penthouse. Jungkook watches her go, something unspoken flickering in his eyes.)
Later that evening – Dinner Table at Jungkook’s Penthouse
(The table is elegantly set. Jungkook sits at the head, Aera beside him, and Y/N across from them. The mood is tense.)
[Min Aera] (forcing a smile)
“I asked the chef to make your favorite, Y/N. Creamy pasta with garlic bread.”
[Y/N] (picking at her food with a frown)
“Yeah? Too bad I lost my appetite the day you decided to ruin our lives.”
[Min Aera] (puts down her fork sharply)
“Y/N, enough! I’ve been patient with your attitude, but this disrespect has to stop.”
[Y/N] (snapping back)
“Disrespect? You tore me away from Dad like it was nothing! And now you want me to smile and eat garlic bread like we’re some perfect little family?”
[Min Aera] (voice rising)
“Because I’m trying! I’m doing my best to give you a better life! You think I wanted to do this alone? You think I didn’t suffer?”
[Y/N] (bitter laugh)
“Suffer? You’re dating a billionaire in a penthouse. Forgive me if I don’t cry for you.”
[Jungkook] (calmly puts his glass down, his voice low and steady)
“Y/N… no one’s asking you to be happy overnight. But maybe try seeing what’s in front of you instead of only what’s been lost.”
[Y/N] (icy glare at him)
“You don’t know me. Don’t act like you care.”
[Jungkook] (meeting her eyes without flinching)
“I don’t know you yet. But I care because I can see you’re in pain. And no matter what you think, I’m not the enemy.”
(A tense silence falls. Aera clenches her jaw, clearly holding back more words.)
[Min Aera] (quietly, through her teeth)
“She’s sixteen and already thinks she knows everything. I should’ve left her with her father if this is how she repays me.”
[Y/N] (standing up, eyes flashing)
“Maybe you should have.”
(She storms away from the table. Aera looks furious, but Jungkook reaches out and touches her hand gently.)
[Jungkook]
“She’s hurting. Lashing out is the only way she knows how to cope. Give her time.”
[Min Aera] (exhausted, slumps back into her chair)
“She makes me feel like the villain.”
[Jungkook] (softly)
“Maybe to understand her, you’ll have to accept that right now… you are.”
Jungkook’s Penthouse – Later That Night
(Y/N is sitting alone on the balcony, headphones in, staring out at the city skyline. Jungkook approaches quietly, knocking gently on the glass door before stepping out.)
[Jungkook]
“Mind if I join you?”
(Y/N doesn’t respond but doesn’t stop him either. He takes a seat beside her, leaving space between them.)
[Jungkook] (softly)
“I know this can’t be easy for you. And I know you probably think I’m just pretending to care.”
[Y/N] (not looking at him)
“You are pretending.”
[Jungkook]
“Then let me prove I’m not. I don’t want to take your father’s place, Y/N. But I’d like to understand you… if you’d let me.”
(Y/N says nothing, but her expression flickers. Jungkook watches her, quietly.)
[Jungkook] (after a pause)
“There’s going to be a welcoming party for you. I want you there. Not as some stepdaughter for show—but as yourself. It’s your life too.”
[Y/N] (smirks, finally meeting his eyes)
“You sure about that? I’m not exactly the polite, smile-for-pictures kind of girl.”
[Jungkook] (half-smiling)
“Neither am I. So… we’ll get along just fine.”
(Y/N nods slowly. Her smirk deepens as an idea forms in her head.)
The Next Night – Welcoming Party
(The penthouse glows with luxury, filled with Seoul's elite. The moment Y/N walks in—dressed in a fierce, unforgettable outfit—conversations falter. Her presence slices through the room like a blade. All eyes turn. Aera spots her instantly, her posture going rigid.)
[Whispering Guest]
"Wait... isn't that Jungkook's stepdaughter?"
(Before anyone can intercept, Y/N strides up to the DJ booth. She snatches the mic, taps it twice. A hush falls over the party. Her smile is sugar-laced venom.)
[Y/N]
"Good evening, everyone. Just wanted to personally welcome you... to the living hell I wake up to every day. Buckle up. It's gonna be a wild show."
(A collective gasp. The crowd stirs—shocked murmurs spreading like wildfire. Aera's face drains of color. Jungkook doesn't move, but something shifts in his jaw.)
[Min Aera] (storming over, eyes blazing)
"Y/N! Have you lost your damn mind?!"
[Y/N] (tilting her head, voice dripping sarcasm)
"Oh no, I found it. Right next to the lies and the masks we're all wearing."
[Min Aera] (voice cracking with rage)
"You ungrateful little—You've humiliated this family! Disgraced Jungkook in front of everyone!"
(With a sharp snap, she slaps Y/N—loud and brutal. The sound echoes. Everything freezes. Y/N's head jerks to the side. Her hand rises slowly to her cheek. She doesn't cry—not yet. But her eyes shimmer, glassy.)
[Jungkook] (stepping forward, voice like steel)
"That's enough."
(He places himself between them, shielding Y/N with a calmness that commands the room. He reaches for her hand. She recoils slightly... but lets him take it.)
[Jungkook] (to the guests, measured)
"The evening is over. Thank you for your time."
(Gasps become silence. He walks Y/N away, up the stairs. Behind them, Aera stands frozen—silenced by something far more powerful than shame.)
Upstairs – Guest Room
(Jungkook leads her in gently, then shuts the door with soft finality. Y/N sits on the edge of the bed, back straight, fists clenched in her lap. She's trying not to fall apart—but it's happening anyway.)
[Y/N] (voice breaking)
"She hit me... like I meant nothing. I didn't want to be here. I thought if I pushed you far enough... maybe you'd send me back. Back to my dad. Back to not feeling like... this."
(Jungkook kneels in front of her, slow and steady. His voice is quiet but unwavering.)
[Jungkook]
"You don't have to earn love by being perfect. Or by being someone else. You're not invisible, Y/N. You're not disposable. I see you."
(She looks down at him, stunned by the gentleness in his voice. Her lip trembles.)
[Jungkook] (softer now)
"And if your mother can't see the damage she's doing... then I'll be the one who does. I'll stand in the gap. Until she learns, or you heal."
(A breath catches in her throat. Her tears finally fall—heavy, unguarded. Jungkook reaches for a tissue, offering it with quiet grace. She takes it, their eyes meeting for a moment. Something deep flickers there. He looks away quickly, grounding himself.)
[Jungkook] (to himself, almost)
"She's just a kid... just a kid, a broken one."
(But broken things still bleed, and broken things still matter.)
