The Weight of Silence

Chapter One - "I love thee with a love that shall not die"

Third point of view

It was felicity's mother's funeral. She could not in a million years believe why her mother...had died. Why? She could not think of any reason as for the why. Her father stood behind her and had his hand on her shoulder to calm her from this. She could not think of anything to explain it when she once was a child. Who had so much excitement, wonder, and love? But she had not expected this and all she could think was that she wanted to be in her mother's arms again. She could still smell the perfume all she would have to do was go into her mother's room. Though it hurt to even walk into her mother's room, she still did from time to time. Some would think she was torturing herself she was 14 and motherless and how that was enough torture as it was.

A few years later now her father had brought two younger girls about the same age as her, actually. Then there was the woman she was afraid of but just slightly excited she'd have a mother and sisters. She then smiled at herself at the thought of it. It was a surprise she could not lie she now would have a new mother will it be the same as her mother? Would this woman read her Shakespeare? Would this woman quote him she wondered would it be like before with her mother? She thought these things as she looked at them the woman looked young most likely in her thirties she had bangs and long blonde hair her eyes looked scheming though the girls giggled to themselves like they owned the place, and she shrugged it off. She was just overthinking as she usually did. Both girls had blonde hair which was different from her black hair. One had thinner hair than the other. Though she figured they would be close and sisterly. She never had a sister, so she thought this would be a great experience. Her father then showed her off and told them how she was his daughter. She smiled, and the woman laughed "oh hello Felicity I've heard so much about you." Felicity nodded though she wasn't used to that name. She'd always been called 'Effie' it was a nickname everyone said. But she wasn't going to take it to heart as the woman obviously didn't know that. Plus maybe it'd be weird if that woman called her 'Effie' as her mother called her that. "Oh...have you that good to hear...?" Felicity hadn't really been told much. Especially not her name so her father leaned down to whisper "Mildred darling... remember?" She then thought again maybe her father had told her this woman's name. She dazed out sometimes or just didn't pay attention. Not only that, but she had most likely forgotten about it. "Ah... Ms. Mildred." Felicity saw the twitch in the woman's eyes that she had forgotten her name. This woman was displeased with her. Felicity felt bad she didn't mean to make the woman upset. Mildred then went to her daughters' who were a few feet away and pushed them in front of her. "Introduce yourselves." She spoke coldly and Felicity didn't like that but her daughters nodded. The thin blonde haired girl spoke "I'm Olive. Nice to meet you Felicity." Olive smiled, but it was like her eyes were annoyed. She did not want to even speak with Felicity, and it was obvious. Like she had better things to do. But Felicity nodded and put on a smile "nice to meet you too." Olive rolled her eyes and plastered a fake smile. Then she spoke, and her hair was very thick and braided. "I'm... Cordelia." She had looked bored to even be there. She was obviously her mother's favorite and had no care for this meeting.

It was months later and the other two girls did not associate with Felicity. Felicity then stayed in her room and did not associate with the girls unless her father was around, and she would spring up a conversation. She wasn't sure what to tell her father. That the girls wanted nothing to do with her? But her father seemed so happy, so she did not say anything. She stayed in her room and sketched with her pencils. She loves to sketch out dresses and different types of clothes.

It was now two years later, and it was her prom night. She even had a boyfriend, and she was so excited for it. There were feelings, and she was going to tell him she loved him. She had even designed her own prom dress,, and it was a beautiful blue and simple design. Her hair was put up into a bun. And as she walked to the door she saw Olive and him making out. Olive then spoke "now darling who do you want more?" He wanted another kiss,, and he whispered out through his pants "you of course. Felicity means nothing." Tears fell down Felicity's face she couldn't believe that he had played her. She was so naive to believe someone actually wanted her. She hated living in this house with her stepsisters. Furthermore, she couldn't wait to leave.

Though we all know that was never going to happen. Do any of you actually think that Mildred would actually let Felicity go? That her stepsisters would let her leave? No they enjoyed too much of the satisfaction of what they put Felicity through. And the best thing was she would never tell a single thing. Felicity was a quiet girl who never tried to cause a scene and they loved to use that against her.
