The Strange Encounter
[A lonely street. Midnight. The wind is sharp. Anika walks faster, hugging her bag tightly.]
Anika
(thinking):
Why is the road so empty? … It feels wrong.
Like someone’s following me.
[Footsteps echo behind her. She spins around. Nothing.]
Anika
(whispering):
Okay, calm down, Anika. Just your imagination.
[A tall shadow suddenly appears at the end of the street. He steps into the moonlight—tall, elegant, with glowing red eyes.]

(shocked):
W-who are you?!
(deep voice):
You shouldn’t walk alone at night.
Anika
That’s not an answer. You scared me!
Your eyes… they don’t look normal.
Skyler
(sternly):
They’re not.
And if you’re wise, you’ll run.
Anika
(backing away):
Run? From what? From you?
Skyler
(closer, shadows clinging to him):
From the monster I can become.
[The moonlight touches his pale face. Sharp fangs glint as he speaks.]
Anika
(frozen, heart racing):
You’re… not human, are you?
Skyler
(low whisper):
Go home, human.
Before I forget mercy.

[Anika stands frozen. Skyler’s crimson eyes glow brighter in the dark. Her heartbeat echoes in her ears.]

(stammering):
Y-you’re joking, right?
There’s no such thing as… monsters.
Skyler
(cold, steady voice):
Then keep believing that, and maybe you’ll live longer.
[He turns as if to leave, his long coat brushing the wind. But Anika takes a step forward.]

Wait! If you’re dangerous… why warn me?
Why not just—hurt me?
[Skyler stops. Silence. His jaw tightens as though he’s battling something inside.]
Skyler
Because… I don’t hurt the innocent.
Anika
(softly):
Then what are you?
[He slowly looks back, his eyes glowing red like burning embers. For a moment, his fangs glint again.]
Skyler
(low, almost a growl):
I am hungry. I am the night.
I am the King they whisper about.
Anika
(shaken):
King…? King of what?
Skyler
(stepping closer, his voice a dark whisper):
King of vampires.
[The word hangs heavy in the air. Anika’s breath catches in her throat. Part of her wants to run, yet her feet won’t move.]
Anika
(thinking):
Vampire… impossible.
And yet, I can’t look away.
[Skyler studies her, his crimson eyes narrowing. Instead of attacking, he simply fades back into the shadows, leaving only the echo of his words behind.]
Skyler
(voice fading):
Stay away from me, human. For your own good.
[Anika’s heart pounds. She knows she should run home and forget. But her soul whispers something else—this is only the beginning.]
Secrets in the Dark
[Later that night. Anika locks her door, breathing heavily. The image of glowing red eyes won’t leave her mind.]

(thinking):
Vampires… that’s crazy.
Maybe I was imagining it.
But no… I saw his fangs.
[She sits on her bed, scrolling through her phone, searching “vampires in town.” Old news clippings appear—disappearances, pale bodies found, whispers of a dark king.]
Anika
(whispers):
So the stories… they’re real.
[Suddenly, her window rattles. The curtain flutters. She gasps, clutching her blanket.]
[The shadows shift. Skyler appears outside the window, standing perfectly still, his crimson eyes dimmer now.]

(shocked):
You—! How did you even—?
Skyler
(calmly):
I warned you not to follow curiosity. Yet here you are.
Anika
(heart pounding):
You were watching me?
Skyler
(serious):
To make sure others don’t find you. You are… fragile.
Anika
(angry, yet trembling):
Then stop lurking in the dark! If you’re so dangerous, why protect me?
[Skyler’s expression hardens, but his voice lowers, almost gentle.]
Skyler
Because something about you… Silences hunger.
Anika
(whispers to herself):
Silences… the hunger?
[Their eyes meet through the glass. For the first time, fear mixes with something else—a pull she doesn’t understand.]
Skyler
(firmly):
Stay away from me, Anika. The closer you get… the harder it will be to let you live.
[And with a swirl of shadows, he vanishes, leaving her trembling in the silence of her room.]
