A Voice From the Past
The movie was plunged into a comfortable darkness, broken only by the flickering light of the screen. All around me, people erupted in laughter at the hero's clumsy antics, but the sound felt distant, muffled. A hollow feeling settled in my chest.
I was no longer in the plush seat; I was thrown back into the past.

"Duh,"he shoved my shoulder, laughing. "You are not getting rid of me that easy."
I never thought we would part ways because of that one incident. The memory felt like a fresh wound, even after all this time.
Suddenly my phone vibrated violently in my hand, jerking my senses back to the present.
The theater lights were coming up, and I fumbled to answer the call.
Park Jimin
"Hey, where are you? You need to come to the office now."
Crisis
Jeon Jungkook
(I whispered into the phone) "Fine, I'm on my way."
The atmosphere is tense. The Department Head, MR. Cha Eunwoo, is pacing. Jungkook is at the table with his team.
Cha Eunwoo
(Slamming a tablet down on the table) "I don't think any of you grasp the magnitude of this. Our new brand ambassador, the face of our 'Pure Life' mineral water campaign, was just arrested for a drug scandal. The video has gone viral. Our launch is in six weeks. We are, for lack of a better word, screwed."
Park Jimin
"Can we just edit him out of the existing ads? Use voiceovers?"
Jeon Jungkook
(Shaking his head, forcing himself to focus on the solution) "It's too integrated, Jimin. His face is on the prototype bottles, the billboards are already printed. The association is toxic. We need a new ambassador. Completely. And we need them ASAP."
Cha Eunwoo
"Finally, someone talking sense. Mr Jeon, you're the team lead on this. What's your solution?"
Jeon Jungkook
"We start from scratch. We need a clean slate. Someone with a spotless reputation, mass appeal, and values that genuinely align with 'health' and 'purity'." (He turns to the whiteboard). "Let's brainstorm. We need a list of possibilities by the end of this meeting."
(The team throws out names for the next 10 minutes. Jungkook writes them up, his professional mask firmly in place.)
Park Jimin
"What about that Olympic swimmer? She's incredibly popular."
Colleague
"Too niche. We need broader appeal. The lead actor from that hit web series 'Moonlight'?"
Jeon Jungkook
"Good, but he's already endorsing three rival soda brands. It dilutes the message."
Cha Eunwoo
(Staring at the list, unimpressed) "These are all fine. But they're safe. We need someone with the same star power as our original mistake, but with actual integrity. We need a miracle worker."
(Jungkook's phone pings with an alert from the PR team. He reads it, and his blood runs cold. He says the name almost without thinking, a name that has been haunting him.)
Jeon Jungkook
"What about... Kim Taehyung?"
Regret
(A murmur of approval runs through the team.)
Park Jimin
"Kim Taehyung? The philanthropist? The guy who literally has a 'Man of the Year' award for his charity work? That's genius Jungkook. He's the definition of 'pure'."
Cha Eunwoo
(A slow smile spreads across his face) "Now that is a name. His image is gold. Absolutely gold. He's perfect."
Jeon Jungkook
(Panic rising, immediately trying to backtrack) "Wait, on second thought, he might be... too expensive. Or unavailable. His schedule is—"
Cha Eunwoo
"Nonsense! This is exactly the bold move we need. Mr Jeon, I'm making this your top priority. You and your team will draw up the proposal immediately."
Jeon Jungkook
"Sir, perhaps Jimin should lead the outreach. I have a lot on my plate with the __"
Cha Eunwoo
(Cutting him off, his tone final) "This is your plate now. You suggested him because you know he's the right fit. I need my best person on this. Kim Taehyung is notoriously selective. He doesn't do endorsements lightly. It will take a finesse to convince him."
Mr. Cha looks directly at Jungkook, his expression serious.
Cha Eunwoo
"Mr Jeon, this is non-negotiable. Your mission is to get Kim Taehyung to sign with us. You will persuade him. Whatever it takes."
(The meeting adjourns. Everyone files out, energized by the new plan. Jungkook remains seated, staring at the name "Kim Taehyung" circled on the whiteboard. The boy from the movie, the memory he was trying to escape.)
