Chapter 1 – Rebirth in the Rain
The rain hit the skyscraper windows like a drumbeat of fate. Kim Taeyun opened his eyes, gasping, and the world felt wrongly familiar. He was… alive. Alive in the body of his twenty-two-year-old self.
Memories of betrayal, of knives in the dark, of death… flashed before him. He had died once, humiliated and murdered by the people he trusted most. His fiancée, his closest friend… all of them.
Now, he had a second chance. And nothing would stop him.
---
The ballroom glittered with chandeliers, filled with society’s elite, laughing and clinking glasses. Han Seoah, his fiancée in the past life, floated through the crowd, a serpent’s smile on her lips. Lee Minho, the friend who had betrayed him, stood beside her, smug and confident.
They hadn’t expected him. They didn’t expect him to be cold. To be awake. To know.
Taeyun stepped into the room, his tailored black suit clinging perfectly to his reborn body. Silence fell like a guillotine. Conversations halted mid-sentence.
“Taeyun?” Seoah’s voice trembled.
He smiled, but it was not warm. It was sharp. Calculated. Deadly.
“Surprised?” he asked, his voice low, velvety, carrying the weight of someone who had seen death itself.
Whispers rippled through the room.
“You… you’re early,” she stammered.
“Yes. Early,” he said. “Early enough to save everyone the trouble of witnessing my humiliation a second time.”
He strode past the crowd, every step echoing like a warning. Then his gaze locked on someone else—a fiery, defiant young man at the edge of the crowd, watching with curiosity and challenge burning in his eyes.
Jeon Jungguk.
He smirked. “Well, this isn’t the shy, obedient Taeyun I’ve heard about. You’ve grown bold… or maybe you were always just lucky to be born into wealth.”
Taeyun’s eyes narrowed, his voice ice-cold: “Lucky? No, Mr. Jungguk. I’ve been dead once. I don’t rely on luck anymore.”
---
A phone buzzed in Taeyun’s pocket. The message was short. Simple. Terrifying:
“They know you’re back. And they’re waiting.”
Taeyun’s lips curved into a dangerous smile. The game had begun.
Above the ballroom, a shadow lingered on the balcony—someone who had never forgiven him. His icy heart stirred for the first time with a single thought:
“This time… they will all pay.”

Chapter 2 – Calculated Shadows
The morning sun pierced the glass walls of the skyscraper, but Kim Taeyun barely noticed it. He stood in his corner office, black coffee in hand, eyes scanning multiple screens displaying his empire’s subsidiaries, enemy movements, and news headlines about his sudden “return.”
The world saw him as reborn—a young CEO taking over the family company with unprecedented energy. But inside, he was a predator. Every glance, every decision, every step he made was calculated. The people who had betrayed him in his past life had no idea what awaited them.
Taeyun’s phone buzzed again. Another unknown number.
“Do not underestimate him. The boy is dangerous beyond measure.”
A small smirk curved his lips. He loved it when others underestimated him.
---
Meanwhile, in the company lobby, Jeon Jungguk strode through the crowd, sharp-eyed and always aware. He had heard whispers about the young CEO who returned overnight—someone rumored to be cold, calculating, and untouchable.
Their paths crossed unexpectedly. Jungguk bumped into him, coffee nearly spilling onto Taeyun’s designer suit.
“Watch where you’re going,” Taeyun said flatly, glancing down at the intruder.
“I think you should watch where you’re standing,” Jungguk shot back, smirking, unafraid.
The tension was instant, a spark that could ignite a wildfire. Taeyun’s cold gaze met Jungguk’s fearless one, and for a brief moment, the world around them seemed to stop.
---
In the following days, Taeyun moved like a shadow. He manipulated the board subtly, undermined Han Seoah and Lee Minho without revealing his full strength, and quietly positioned himself to reclaim the empire he had lost.
Han Seoah noticed the difference immediately. Her confident, mocking smile faltered when he passed her in the hallway, offering only a cold nod instead of the submissive deference she expected.
Lee Minho, once smug and untouchable, found himself trapped in a web of Taeyun’s making. Every move he thought was secret was being monitored, every ally he trusted was questioned.
And Jungguk… Jungguk kept appearing at inconvenient times, crossing paths with him in ways that both frustrated and intrigued Taeyun.
---
One evening, Taeyun stood on the rooftop balcony, overlooking the city lights glittering below. The rain from the previous night had left the streets glistening like black glass. He thought about the enemies who had killed him, the empire that had been stolen, and the fiery young man who seemed to follow him everywhere.
A shadow moved behind him. Kang Hyun, the mafia boss and one of Taeyun’s secret allies, stepped into view.
“You’re playing a dangerous game, Taeyun,” Kang said, his voice low and steady. “The people who killed you the first time… they won’t wait long. They’re already making moves.”
Taeyun’s lips curved into a cold smile. “Let them. I’ve already survived death once. This time… I’ll make them regret it with every breath they take.”
Suddenly, his phone buzzed again—a new message, this one chillingly simple:
“Your little empire is about to crumble. Are you ready to bleed?”
Taeyun clenched his fists, feeling the familiar fire of vengeance stir inside him. He glanced down at the city, then up at the night sky. The game had begun. And this time… there would be no mercy.

Chapter 3 – Shadows of Obsession
The night air was thick with rain and danger as Kim Taeyun’s black limousine glided silently through the city. His mind wasn’t on the lights or the streets—it was on the chessboard he had set into motion. Every move he had made since his rebirth had been deliberate, cold, calculated. And yet… there was one unpredictable element he couldn’t fully control.
Jeon Jungguk.
He had seen the young man again today, in the boardroom, in the hallways, even in the elevator—always crossing paths, always defiant. Taeyun had watched Jungguk like a predator, the way a wolf studies the prey that doesn’t yet know it’s doomed. There was a fire in Jungguk that irritated him, and yet… it drew him in, a dangerous, irresistible pull.
---
At the top floor of the skyscraper, Taeyun entered his office, shutting the door with a deliberate click that made the security cameras blink. He poured himself a glass of whiskey, his cold eyes scanning a dossier.
Han Seoah. Lee Minho. Their betrayals had been devastating once. This time, he would dismantle them piece by piece. Slowly. Painfully.
The phone buzzed again. A familiar number flashed: Kang Hyun.
“Taeyun,” the mafia boss’ voice rumbled low, almost warning. “They’re making moves tonight. Your fiancée and that little friend—Lee Minho—they’re planning something. You need to act.”
Taeyun’s lips curved into a dark smile. “Let them. They’ll learn that I don’t just play the game. I control it. And anyone who steps in my way…” His fingers drummed on the table. “…will break.”
---
Later that night, Jungguk found himself standing outside Taeyun’s private office by accident—or perhaps fate. The door swung open before he could knock, and there Taeyun stood, looming like a shadow, his dark eyes burning with something more than authority.
“You keep showing up,” Taeyun said, voice low, dangerous. “Do you always seek trouble, or is it just me?”
Jungkuk smirked, trying to mask the tension crawling up his spine. “Maybe a bit of both. You don’t mind, do you?”
Taeyun’s hand shot out, gripping Jungguk’s wrist in a possessive hold. The contact was brief but electrifying. Jungguk stiffened, heart pounding.
“Mind?” Taeyun’s voice dropped an octave. “You don’t understand. You don’t get to touch this world unless I allow it.”
Jungkuk swallowed, feeling the weight of the man before him. Strong. Possessive. Dangerous. Obsessive. Something inside him stirred—a mix of fear, thrill, and undeniable desire.
“You’re… terrifying,” Jungguk whispered.
“Good,” Taeyun said. “You’ll need to be. And yet, somehow, I can’t let go of you.”
---
Across the city, Han Seoah and Lee Minho were plotting, unaware that every move they made was already anticipated. Taeyun had orchestrated shadows to follow them, allies in the mafia world silently observing. Tonight would mark the first real strike of his vengeance.
And in the shadows, Taeyun’s obsession with Jungguk grew. Every glance, every defiant smirk from the young man, only fueled the fire. Possession was instinct, and Taeyun would claim what was his—whether Jungguk wanted it or not.
