1st Day of School

This is the first day of school and Natalia is getting ready for school. She is very nervous as she wants to create a good first day impression on her teachers. She is calling her friend Nidhi. She is also from her old school, and she has been a friend for the past 6 years. She is always a latecomer. So she is calling her to come on time and she will wait for her outside the main gate of school. With this, she went outside to take the bus to school. She is waiting for the bus, and she sees so many new girls from her school, and she becomes aware that she is an introvert, and she is not able to make direct communication with them. After that, the bus came and she sat on the bus. When she walks off of the bus, her school is at a walk of 5 minutes. So she started walking. She is getting nervous about seeing so many students from her school. She walked and reached the school gate. She started to wait for her friend but as I mentioned earlier, she is a late comer, so she is still late. She comes at exactly 9 when school starts. Natalia and Nidhi both went inside. Then they saw a peon, and they asked him where they had to go. Peon informed them to go to lower ground and they went there. All the students in their class are waiting there. Today is the first day of school, so there were very few students, like 30 from all the four streams. Nidhi had so many friends, so she went to meet them and Natalia sat on the pedestal and started her own studying.

Then Chemistry Sir came, and he took all the Medical and Non-Medical Students to the class. Nancy sat at the first desk of class exactly in front of Sir. Then it is the first day of school, so everyone has introduced themselves . Sir already knows Natalia and Nikhil as they got selected from their district for free training for JEE Preparation. In addition, of these two, another girl, Saumya, also got selected for this training. She is a very calm girl, and she always focuses on her studies. Natalia wanted to become a friend of Saumya as she thought that she was just like her and she always wanted a friend who studied with her. Her friend Nidhi is not like this. She doesn't like to study. She gets bored whenever I start to talk about Physics, Chemistry or Math. So she thinks that if Saumya becomes her friend, then they will both study with each other and become good study companions.

Sir asked Nancy about what she had studied in the time of Covid. She answers Sir about the topics she is already aware of. All the other students in the class are looking at her like she is an alien who only studies or a psycho. But she knows whatever she is going for is important and the JEE exam is not a jock, and she has to become serious about her future. With that, this class ends. Sir keeps interacting with students but most of the time he is busy asking questions from Nancy.

Stay tuned to follow the exciting journey of these three friends as they navigate their way through school, form strong bonds, and face new challenges together.

Sidharth-First-Impression

The rest of the day passed freely. Since there weren’t many lectures, Natalia felt lighter than usual. During the lunch break, she sat with her friend Nidhi, quietly sharing food and laughter. Later, they had their first English lecture.

The English hall was buzzing with life, as students from all four streams had gathered together. The room was almost packed, and Natalia and Nidhi could only find seats at the back. Natalia felt a little nervous, surrounded by so many unfamiliar faces, but the energy of the place kept her curious.

Their English teacher, Sir Lalit, walked in. He was unlike most teachers—funny, engaging, and with a habit of connecting real-life incidents with the students sitting in front of him. Every joke drew bursts of laughter from corners of the hall, and Natalia found herself smiling more than she expected. The atmosphere was lively, and the lecture passed quicker than she had imagined.

After class, she headed home by bus, the day replaying in her mind like a small movie. She thought about the crowd of students, Sir Lalit’s humor, and the faces she’d seen. Later at home, she studied quietly, her books spread across the desk, but her mind wandered back to school.

The Next Day

The next morning felt brighter, filled with anticipation. Natalia walked into her classroom with a fresh sense of curiosity. As the lecture began, she spotted Saumya, someone she thought she could be friends with. Natalia approached her with a warm smile, but the response was cold. Saumya’s replies were short, her eyes drifting elsewhere, clearly uninterested.

For a moment, Natalia’s heart sank. Maybe she doesn’t want to be friends… she thought. She quietly returned to her seat, deciding not to push it.

Later that day, the students were sitting on the ground for class. The atmosphere was different—relaxed but filled with the occasional murmur of conversations. That’s when Natalia noticed him.

A boy, slightly apart from others, wearing a dark hoodie that shadowed part of his face. He seemed withdrawn, different. Natalia’s eyes lingered on him for a few seconds longer than she intended, curiosity stirring in her.

The Physics Sir called the boy. His tone was serious yet encouraging. The boy walked up slowly, hands in pockets, and answered. His voice was low, calm, but carried a kind of depth that made people turn their heads. Natalia studied him quietly. He’s… not like others.

Soon after, Sir turned his gaze toward Natalia. “What did you learn in the online training?” he asked. Surprised but steady, she explained clearly, her voice carrying more confidence than she expected. Sir nodded with approval, then glanced between her and the boy.

“This is Sidharth,” he announced. “You will help him. Teach him these topics. You both should study together.”

Natalia blinked. So, the hoodie boy had a name—Sidharth. Their eyes met briefly before both looked away, shy and uncertain. The teacher’s words left an invisible string tying them together.

They returned to their seats, silence surrounding them. Both were introverts, both hesitant. Should I say something? Natalia thought, tapping her pen nervously. Sidharth seemed to be thinking the same, his eyes flicking toward her but quickly dropping back to his notebook.

Finally, he gathered courage. He leaned slightly closer and spoke in a low tone. “How should we… start studying?”

His voice startled her, not because it was loud, but because it was soft and unexpectedly polite. Natalia smiled faintly and replied, “Maybe… we can study online? On WhatsApp?”

“Okay,” he said simply. “I’ll message you after going home.”

It was short, but it was something. Their very first interaction.

The rest of the day went on with more lectures, though they didn’t talk again. Natalia caught herself sneaking glances at him once or twice. He always looked serious, head bent over his notebook, but there was a quiet intensity about him. She noticed how others sometimes stared at him too—maybe because of the hoodie, maybe because of the aura he carried.

During the final English lecture of the day, Natalia chose to sit at the very front on the mat. When she turned her head slightly, her eyes widened. Sidharth was sitting parallel to her, also in the first row.

She bit back a smile. So, he’s serious about studies too.

Something inside her felt lighter, almost happy. In a place where she thought making true companions would be difficult, she had just found someone who seemed equally focused. Maybe not a friend yet, but definitely a good companion for the journey ahead.

As the lecture ended and students rushed out in chatter, Natalia walked toward the exit, her thoughts unusually calm. Yes… maybe this is the start of something good.

Sidharth Thoughts

Sidharth’s POV

The ride home was quiet, the steady hum of the bus blending into the thoughts swirling in Sidharth’s mind. His hoodie was pulled up as usual, casting a shadow over his face. It was a habit now—keeping to himself, staying invisible. That was how he preferred it.

But today hadn’t been like other days.

He stared out the window, watching the blur of streets and people pass by, his fingers loosely gripping the handle of his bag. His thoughts kept circling back to her—Natalia. The girl his Physics Sir had paired him up with.

When Sir had first called his name, he’d felt that familiar twist in his stomach. He hated attention, hated being put on the spot. But then Sir had said something unexpected:

“This is Sidharth. You will help him. Teach him these topics. You both should study together.”

At that moment, his eyes had met hers. Briefly. Just for a second.

She was sitting a little stiffly, as if she hadn’t expected it either. Her expression wasn’t like the others’. There was no judgment there, no curiosity laced with gossip. Just… a calm openness.

Sidharth had quickly looked away, but the image stayed with him.

Natalia. The name suited her somehow. Quiet, soft. She didn’t seem like the type to talk unnecessarily or laugh too loudly just to get attention. She’d spoken earlier in class when Sir asked her about the online training, and her voice had been steady, clear. Not arrogant, not fake—just… sure of herself.

It had surprised him.

Most girls he’d noticed in school—well, they didn’t notice him. Not really. And he didn’t mind that. It was easier to stay in the background, hoodie up, headphones in, dealing with his own world.

But now, Sir had tied him to her, at least academically. Study together.

He wasn’t sure how he felt about it.

On one hand, he knew he needed the help. He wasn’t bad at studies, but he’d missed a few classes, fallen behind. Having someone guide him wasn’t a bad thing. But on the other hand, working with someone meant… talking. Explaining. Being vulnerable enough to admit what he didn’t understand.

And that someone was Natalia—a girl he barely knew.

He let out a slow breath, leaning his head against the bus window. The glass was cool against his temple, grounding him for a moment.

When he’d finally spoken to her after class, it had taken more effort than he’d expected. His voice had come out quieter than he meant, but she’d heard him.

“How should we… start studying?”

The way she’d looked at him—surprised, but not in a bad way—had eased some of his tension. She’d suggested WhatsApp, her tone tentative, as if she wasn’t sure he’d agree.

“Maybe… we can study online? On WhatsApp?”

And he had just nodded. “Okay.”

Simple. Direct.

But the truth was, he’d been relieved. Texting was easier than face-to-face conversations. There was time to think before replying, time to avoid saying something stupid.

Still… he couldn’t deny the faint flicker of curiosity inside him.

Who was she, really?

He’d noticed her a couple of times before today. Always sitting quietly, usually with that other girl—Nidhi, he thought her name was. Natalia never seemed to be in the center of attention, yet somehow, she was noticeable. The way she listened carefully to teachers, the way her laugh was soft but genuine when someone said something funny.

It was different from the noise of everyone else.

As the bus rattled over a pothole, Sidharth’s grip on his bag tightened slightly.

He wasn’t sure what this pairing would mean. Maybe it was just about studies—help each other, pass exams, and move on. But a small, cautious part of him wondered if it could be more. Not in a romantic sense—no, that thought felt too big, too soon. Just… maybe having someone to sit with during lectures, someone who didn’t make him feel like an outsider.

Natalia didn’t seem like the type to judge.

And that mattered more to him than he’d realized.

Still, he couldn’t let himself expect too much. People had disappointed him before. Friends who weren’t really friends, promises that turned out to be empty.

He didn’t know Natalia well enough to trust her yet. But there was something about her presence—a kind of quiet strength—that made him want to try.

As his stop approached, Sidharth stood and slung his bag over his shoulder. His reflection in the bus window stared back at him, shadowed and unreadable.

“Study partners,” he muttered under his breath, almost as if saying it aloud would make it real.

The words felt strange.

But as he stepped off the bus and started walking home, a small, unspoken thought lingered in the back of his mind:

Maybe this is the start of something… different.
