NEWS

My mood has been terrible today, ever since my grandma—mind you, I do love her—woke me up from the longest sleep I’ve gotten this week. A week full of chaos.
I still can’t believe my aunt, Malorie, is visiting us today. She’s such an annoying little thing. I never get the chance to defend myself whenever she starts bombarding me with her unpredictable questions.
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
Hurry up, Sandy!
I huff in annoyance. How could I deny her? She’s my every reason to breathe. After all, she’s taken care of me since I was in nappies.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Yeah, coming. Give me 5 minutes!
Exactly ten minutes later, when I noticed the dark expression on my grandma’s face, I made my way downstairs and greeted my aunt.
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
Calm down, honey. I'm sure our precious grandbaby has something up her sleeve
I forced myself to stay unaffected when my grandpa, Josh, winked at me. I knew the joke was on him, but I couldn’t help feeling anxious. My grandma just shrugged and continued pouring tea.
I kept fidgeting in my seat, having no appetite for breakfast with so many things crowding my head. I had a plan—and Malorie was getting in my way.
I barely heard anything the elders said until Ellie cleared her throat. I looked up, and everyone was giving me a strange look. I just shrugged my shoulders.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
What? Something I missed?
Ellie rolled her eyes. At me!
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
“Your aunt just asked you, sweetie—whether you’ll attend Arynden Fairschool for your studies. You’ll be… what, eighteen next month?”
I raised an eyebrow. What did my grandma just say? Arynden Fairschool? Tch. I’ll never go to that horrible school. Ever!
I noticed Josh giving me a confused look at my moody expression when Grandma mentioned the terrible school in our town. I know Grandma tries to understand me—well, it’s not that she can’t, but… she knows nothing about my future plans.
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
Are you well, Sandra? You look....like you may puke anytime, dear
I smiled at that. Grandpa definitely knows me too well.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Well… it’s just that I’m never going to that school, if you must know.
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
What?!
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
Elysandra...please
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Look, Aunt Malorie, I’m sorry, but… okay, let’s do this! Grandma, Grandpa… I’m sorry. I have my own plans, and I will not go to that school. Trust me—I have somewhere else I want to be
I knew, in that very moment, my elders would talk me into oblivion about my choice if they cared enough to ask. And my plans? I can guarantee they would never agree to them.
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
And pray, tell us—where would you like to go? No secrets, Elysandra!
I contemplated telling them about my choice. Would they agree? Reject my plans? Or worse… kick me out of this house? God, help me.
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
Well, we are waiting, honey
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Alright, guys. I’ll tell you, but please—before that, don’t get mad, okay? I promise, I have my reasons
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
Of course, honey. I know you’ll be brave enough to tell us if we should protest—especially if it might endanger you
Well, now or never. I braced myself and took a deep breath before swallowing anything that might come out—since a biscuit had been my only breakfast.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Well, Grandma, Grandpa… the reason I will not go to Arynden Fairschool is because… I will be attending Gildern Royal School
The first thing I heard after my confession was my Aunt Malorie shrieking like a banshee.
I heard her say something like, “It’s a dark school! Impossible. It’s been abandoned!” I covertly peeked through my curtain of hair to see my elders’ expressions.
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
What makes you think that school is still open and accepting students, sweetie?
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Actually, I'm not sure, but it's not totally deserted, isn't it, grandpa?
I have no way of knowing what my elders are thinking at the moment. Despite my grandma's obvious trouble, Grandpa, who is generally the more composed one, seemed to be thinking.
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
Honey, are you all right? Why you would want to go there is beyond me. Have you never heard about the events that took place there? You can't!
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
Calm down, Ellie. She is still unaware of it.
I gave my elders a perplexed, incredulous look. What are they arguing about? What is not allowed? I am aware that the school has been abandoned, but I don't see why it is forbidden. Also they appeared to be aware of the secret. Shall I ask?
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Am I missing something, Grandma and Grandpa?
In all honesty, I simply want to visit and look into it for myself. I enjoy discovering stuff that have been forgotten for a long time, and I shall provide the reason for their abandonment. For this reason, I shall not attend any Fairschool.
Ellie Collins
Ellie Collins
Sandy, nobody should be aware of that school. About a hundred years have passed since the last resident of the school left!
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Grandma, what do you mean by 'left'?
My grandpa abruptly rose up, easing his tight muscles, and I didn't get an answer. Concerning my aunt—yes, Aunt Malorie. Ever since I informed my elders of my decision, she has been sitting quietly with that expression on her face.
Josh Collins
Josh Collins
Malorie has probably been here for almost two hours now. I believe she wishes to depart now since I have a business to attend to. If you'd like to join me, Sandra, let me know.
And with that, I suppose I'll call it a day, even if it's now beyond afternoon. I will see to what my elders have said previously. If I am not the inquisitive woman who lives in this town, I am not Elysandra.

SURPRISE

I've been walking around town ever since Aunt Malorie left. My hometown. Arynden. Where I grew up. I feel almost fortunate to be a part of this lovely city for once. Who would argue otherwise? Maybe not
This vibrant city boasts exquisite gothic and almost classical architecture. I'm confident Mockhem Tower will be one of the most appealing places to see anytime tourists from all kinds of states come to Motern.
I grinned broadly as a beautiful moment unfolded before me. Bright kids roaming around with their own kind, giggling. Never aware of the surroundings. I wish I could turn back time, though.
People were going about their business. Arynden never ceased to exist without its people, who brought the city to life. Yes, Eryndsor has never seen a happier kingdom. At least...not in the other realm.
So, speaking of another realm...
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Lucien!
I cried out in disbelief. A man in all his splendor was standing there. A man with a distinctive profile, one of the most attractive men to have ever existed in this realm. In my view, at least
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Well, well, well. Who exactly are we dealing with here?
That smile. Oh my. How can that alone make him so incredibly attractive?
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Princess, it's been a while.
I burst out laughing. Sure, I missed his sense of humor even though we hadn't seen each other in nearly two weeks. I guess it wasn't that long.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Come on, now! What are we? We had only been apart for a fortnight. Surely not, Vampy, you will admit you have missed me!
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
You're impossible, princess. I wonder when your elders will kick you out of your awful behavior.
I know Lucien is merely joking, but I can't help but roll my eyes at his expanse.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Don't worry about that. Let's get caught up together. Wanna get some Toetti?
The mere mention of my favorite food made my mouth swim. Toetti. A delicious combo of sprinkle pancake with buttercheese sauce and dragon fruit on top. My stomach was acting irrationally, grumbling loudly.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Yeah, why not?
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Perfect!
And that's how we ended ourselves at House of Sillybeans. A highly distinct cafe adjacent to Mockhem Tower, with a lot of uncommon items hanging on the walls. Some of them appear darker and...magical? How come I never noticed it before?
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
You appeared surprised, Princess. What's the matter with you?
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Is that from your realm?
I blurted out. I knew Lucien seemed bewildered, but after taking a close look at what I indicated behind him, he simply shrugged.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
I'd say you're caught up in your sense of adventure, Princess. Obviously, it is
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Yes, I am aware, but really? I had no idea the owner was half-blood!
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Tch. Mr. Warthorne is certainly half-blood. Remember, he's a half good werewolf.
Right. I wouldn't be shocked if Mr. Warthorne, the owner of the House of Sillybeans, is half-blood. After all, they are allowed... Crossing two realms
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
So, Lucien, what about you? Is there any exciting news about our neighbourhood?
I took the time to examine the odd items that appeared to be from the fabled realm of Tylith. A realm where my mortal kind cannot breach the border. I would not define it as a typical sword; rather, it is elegant, with hundreds of diamonds engraved around the handle. Fascinating
I returned my gaze to my lone companion, Lucien. My half-blood buddy. Of course, he knows who and who could be able to cross the border, much alone have that kind of goods. Only immortal and half-bloods are recognized as Tylith citizens.
In Eryndsor, we, the mortal, coexist with the immortal. Only that we were separated long before the battle began hundred years ago. A barrier that separated two realms. A realm with immortal and magical creatures, and another with mortal and half-blood
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Well, I must say, the immortals are interested in us, the Moternity.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Oh, really?
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
At least the mayor, to be fair. But not the king
I looked at Lucien with confusion. Tylith creatures, or whatever they called themselves—I believe Tylitian—were never in my life, will be curious about us. From what I learned from my elders, they are not fond of the Motern people since the battle.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Do not be so surprised, Princess. According to my observations, the mayor is a pretty sensible Tylitian. However, perhaps we should always exercise vigilance so they don't take advantage of us.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Well, if you think so. However, I would rather that the king himself be that person so that we might pass through the veil and visit the wonderful kingdom. Don't get me wrong, Motern, particularly here, Arynden is amazing, but you know who I am.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
We? I thought it was you who wanted to cross the veil!
I rolled my eyes. Lucien, even though he is fairly intelligent, did not comprehend my jokes after all
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
I simply wish I could be somewhere else rather than at the terrible school.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
What? Did something happen, Princess? Why would you recommend crossing the veil simply because you do not want to attend a school?
I pushed aside my empty plate. My hand grasped my dragoncoke and sipped it completely. We were talking incessantly, so I was thirsty. When the harsh flavor burnt my throat, I scowled.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
For god's sake, my elders wanted me to attend Arynden Fairschool!
Lucien gave a knowing smirk. I really wished he'd wipe that smirk from his lovely face. It's not amusing!
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Why, Elysandra—would that knowledge drive you insane? I assumed that once you become 18, we Arynden citizens would go to the school.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
But you didn't, Lucien Veyrion!
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Ahh, I imagine you're jealous. Well, I can't blame my father for wanting me to continue my studies at Tylith. He is immortal, after all, Princess.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Your mother, however, is not immortal. Of course, she would prefer that her son finish his schooling here. She is a Motern!  Your mother must have wanted you to attend Gildern, even if it wasn't that awful school.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Oh, sweetheart. You should know that my father is a noble Vampire Count, extremely prominent profile within Tylith's noble family. The king himself wanted me to study at his palace.
I huffed in frustration. I completely forgot about it. But it isn't fair to me! I have the right to decide.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Hold on a second. What did you say earlier? Gildern School? That abandoned royal school?
I simply shrugged before returning to my previous actions. I was inspecting my nails.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Yeah, that one
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Are you completely insane? The school is forbidden, princess. Nobody in their right mind would attend the cursed school.
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
I'm confident that the school can be reestablished if people are ready to send their children there. It is a wartime inheritance from our ancestors and the royal family!
I am not sure why Lucien seemed taken aback. His face conveyed his emotions. A look of concern crossed his face, which he quickly concealed with indifference. Clearly believed I wasn't in my right mind.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
Elys, you don't get it. If our people decided to bring that school back to life, they absolutely would. However, the damage is already done. The curses left on the castle from the war is tough to break through.
I know I should agree with that statement. Then an idea suddenly sprang to mind. A smile crept across my face.
Lucien Veyrion
Lucien Veyrion
What is it, princess?
I couldn't help but smile when Lucien gave me that troubled look. This is going to be exciting!
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
Elysandra Collins [FMC]
You know what, Mr. Half-blood vampire? Why not bribe one of your Tylith acquaintances with the power to negate the curse?
Oh, I shall never forget the sight of complete misery on Lucien's face for the rest of my life.
