Three AM. Rainy night. Everyone was asleep. Except Angel. Every night at three am she knew everyone was asleep. That was her time of peace, quiet and alone time. Some time to think about herself and her life. One hour before her mother came back home. Every night was the same.
One hour of silence when Angles older brother was asleep. Until her mother came home. Every night drunk and with another guy. The time when Angel got scared and locked her door until the next morning she woke up. This had been going on for six years since her father died on a business trip. Angel and her brother were devastated of course. Their mother on the other hand, didn't seem to care. Never did and probably never would.
Angel laid awake in bed as the time ticked by. She stared at the ceiling and listened to the soft rain outside. She looked at the clock. 03:36 am. 24 slow minutes until her silence would be disturbed. She looked outside at the dark night. The moon was slightly visible between the rainy clouds. Every single detail was nice in the peace and quiet… She didn't realize how quickly the time passed. When she heard the front door open and close and heard her mother's laugh while talking to another guy, she jumped out of bed quietly walking to her door to lock it.
She walked back to her bed sitting on the edge for a moment, before taking her headphones and putting them on. She turned on her music and laid back down. It took her a while to fall asleep… But she eventually did… And the next morning she woke up to the lovely sound of her mother yelling at her brother. She got up, got dressed, did all the normal morning stuff and left her room. Downstairs she sat down at the table as her mother didn't even bother to greet her nor say good morning. At least her brother did.
She grabbed a piece of bread, saying good morning to her brother too before eating it. She was going to be 19 in a week. She should just start looking for somewhere else to stay. She did have the money after all. She slightly glanced at the guy who sat with them at the table. That was probably the guy their mother came home with the previous night. He looked creepy. The way he smiled at her and glanced at places he shouldn't said enough. She excused herself to her room and locked the door once she got there. She sat down at her desk booting up her pc, but doesn't do anything… Instead, just sits there and thinks…what would moving do if she still had to live so close.? And she didn't want to leave her brother behind… Although they could just leave together. Wouldn't that be expensive though…? She wouldn't be able to afford rent for two people since her brother didn't have a job…
She turns of her pc and right on cue, someone knocks on her door. She pushes her chair back getting up and walks to her door opening it. Thankfully… Or maybe not so it was her mother. And she seemed mad. She pushed past Angel stepping into the room. "Did you… Need anything mom?"
Angel asks shutting the door, before turning to look at her mother. She notices as her mother looks around the room… "You're a little too old for toys like these aren't you now?" her mother says pointing at some figures Angel had on her shelf.
"Never got anything good to say" Angel mumbles barely loud enough to be audible.
"Anyway... Did you need anything?" Angel asks again as her mother turns to face her with a disappointed look, "I expect you to be out of this house in the next month." her mother starts, "and if you're not, i'll make sure you'll be out of here" she says sitting on the edge of Angel's bed. "One month.? Are you serious? I have to move out and Mike doesn't? How does that make sense?!" she answers to her mother, watching as she doesn't even bother to calm her down or offer to help with anything.
"Do NOT raise your voice at me young lady. You have one month and that's that!" her mother responds standing up again, walking over to Angel. "So how about you get your lazy ass down and Start looking for somewhere else to live." she finishes before leaving the room slamming the door shut. Angel just stood there in the middle of her room, staring at the floor in confusion. She was basically being kicked out. And she had one month. How would she figure things out in just one month..?
She sat down on her bed gripping the sheet slightly. It was quiet. The only sound audible was the ticking of the clock along with the faint sound of her mother talking with someone on the phone back downstairs. She buried her face in her hands biting back tears. She groaned slightly and looked back up at the clock. 11am.. It had barely been an hour since she woke up, and she was having a bad day. "Fuck..." she mumbled and stood up from her bed walking back over to her pc and sitting down.
She turned on the pc and just stared. This was really happening. She was being kicked out. And had one month to figure everything out.
What felt like hours passed as she researched some basic things about moving out and tried looking for some apartments. Nothing seemed affordable. Nothing seemed possible to her at the moment. It felt like some big fever dream which she yet had to wake up from. She slouched in her chair and sighed. She got up turning off her pc and walked over to her window opening it. She just stood there letting the cool afternoon air hit her face. She could always just text a friend and ask if she could stay there for a bit until she figured things out.
Yet again she didn't want to bother anyone with her issues. After all she didn't even know if anyone would be able to take her in, even if it was only temporary. She shut the window and just sat down on her bed, laying down and stared at the ceiling, lost in thought. Time passed as she laid there staring up. How could things go so wrong for someone in the matter of a day..? She eventually went to sleep, being exhausted from simply having to think. What a great day... And so she drifted of to sleep deciding to think about everything the next day... With clear thoughts... And well rested.

It had been three days since Angel's mom had told her she had to move out. And these three days alone had been hell for Angel. With her mother's constant reminders, the pressure of only having a month, not wanting to bother friends and not finding an affordable apartment it was horrible. She wanted to just stay in her room and do nothing.
Every day she stared at her pc with all these websites to try and find somewhere to live, and it seemed un real. It was unfair. It was illogical. It was absurd. It was so exhausting knowing that her own mother didn't want her in the house. It was two PM. She was hungry. But she would do anything right now than go downstairs and see her mom.
Eventually, after staring at her pc for way too long she got up and walked out of her room. Why should she sit and starve just to avoid someone she wouldn't talk to again in a month either way? She walked downstairs and honestly was relieved that her mother was nowhere to be seen. She went straight to the kitchen making herself a sandwich quickly before she went back to her room.
She ate her sandwich quietly and talked with a friend for a while too. Did she mention that she was probably moving out? Nope. Was she going to? Also, no. At least not until she would move out. It was nice to know that there were some people out there, who did care about her. And maybe.. Just maybe, if she could focus and find somewhere to move out. And actually move out?
Then she would never again have to talk with her mother again. She could live in peace. With no one to bother. She could have free time and hang out with her friends whenever she wanted, without anyone nagging her that she was no use to the family. She could be free.
Although she knew that things, probably.. No not probably. Definitely wouldn't be easy, she started putting effort in what she did. Her mother wanted her out? She would leave. And as soon as she could too. She wouldn't stay somewhere, where she wasn't even appreciated.
For the next 5 days and on her birthday she worked hard and tried to find an apartment. She had found some places, but she was still looking. After all she needed something affordable for her age. Things were getting a little harder since she only had three weeks left to figure it out.
Of course there were the occasional complaints from her mother, who kept reminding her that she would leave soon.
She didn't answer though. Why would she? She wouldn't get any good comment as a reply either way.
TW⚠️: mentions of blood and gore!
Two days later. Angel was in the living room with her laptop. Since her mother hadn't been home for a while she thought it'd be okay to be somewhere outside her room for a little time.
She kind of slammed her Laptop shut and looked towards the front entrance as her mother walked in, visibly drunk and mad. Angel got up, ready to go back to her room yet never really made it there. Her mother grabbed her wrist, preventing her from leaving. "You.. Are a burden to this family.." she slurs dragging Angel to the kitchen.
"I should have.. Had that fucking.. Abortion" she continues gripping Angels wrist tighter as she stumbles to the kitchen counter holding herself up on it. "You've had enough time in this house..." she said. "Enough time?! You gave me a month which isn't even over yet! That's not enough time! And you don't even bother to help me with anything!" She yells back at her mother attempting to free her wrist but failing.
"You damn ungrateful child. You should be happy I didn't just.. Kick you out..." she replied slightly audible. "And honestly, mom! That would have been better. I don't even want to be here anymore-!" Angel says finally stumbling back slightly as her mother let's go. She looked at the bloody knife in her mother's hand, and her vision blurred ever so slightly.
She fell to her knees, weakly clutching her bleeding stomach as she faded in and out of consciousness, dropping to the floor with a hard thud. Her mother looked at her, nearly and half dead body on the floor. She dropped the knife and stumbled back to the living room falling to the couch. If anyone was there they would call the police. But no one found out until a good 7 hours later when Angels brother got home.
Of course,, he called the police and everything. Their mother got arrested and Angel was not to be saved.....
"And anyway basically that all that happened when I died. Not so fun to be stabbed by your own mother, I'll tell you that much" She said calmly to her now best friend in.. Heaven.. Layla. "You're so calm about that it's almost concerning.. Shouldn't you like... Be sad..? Or mad..? Or confused...? You just seem so accepting of it all..." Layla said looking at Angie with concern. "I was all of these at first but when you look at the situation.. I guess I should have seen it coming." Angel replies, "but also now I can just live calmly... I was kinda surprised to see all this.. 'Afterlife' stuff to be real.. Now I also know that my mom is happily going to hell.. Yay!" She said looking at Layla with a slight smile on her face. "Well... As long as you're happy and not freaking out I guess that's okay" Layla responds. "Yea... I'm telling you I'm fine though! I'm honestly happy to be out of that place.. Having to leave my brother kinda does suck though.. Also, my hair is light pink now instead of dark brown because 'I'm an angel, and it just looks better!' also sucks.. But oh well.. At least I get to live more" Angel says.
