SUPERMARKET GUY

Introduction

Jia’s laugh still echoed in my ears—the clink of her beer glass, the careless tilt of her smile.
Jia
Jia
Did you fall for me?
She had teased, her eyes daring me to answer.
I pretended not to hear
But then, she leaned closer, her whisper grazing my ear.
Jia
Jia
I trust you, Atharv.
Trust. That cursed word. Does it still exist in this world? Or did it die long ago, every time someone drove a knife into the back of the one who believed them?
Trust makes people weak. The first rule of trusting is simple—stop doubting. And the moment you stop doubting, you lose.
Seven days. That was all I knew her. Seven fleeting days before her laughter turned into silence.

Sorry, I was taking a break from my writing! Now I’m back. I have lots of thriller, mystery, and crime plots in mind, but as you know, I’m busy with my novel. I’ll try hard to give you updates!

Episode 1

The day passed like water flowing in a river fast, smooth, almost meaningless.
I was at home, like always.
Rang. Rang. Rang.
My phone buzzed again and again.
I Denied it.
Rang
Denied.
Rang.
Denied.
Rang. Denied.
The calls didn’t stop. It was from home. My mother. She kept calling after hearing I quit this job too.
The fourth time this week. The fourth time I walked away.
Jobs were never my cup of tea. I couldn’t handle the pressure, the weight of people around me. I never could.
Now, I’m unemployed again.
They say, “Unemployment is the root behind every crime.”
Maybe they’re right.
Because last night—I committed one.
With blood still fresh on my hands, I entered my home. I washed them, scrubbed them, as if I could erase the truth.
But truth doesn’t wash away. No matter how much you clean, it comes back. It waits.
One day, definitely—it will stand in front of me.

Episode 2

Hey, loser!
Give me one packet of cigarettes!”
Atharv
Atharv
Here, sir,
I said, forcing my voice steady. Controlling my emotions was harder than I thought.
He tossed the money carelessly, and the coins clattered to the ground. I bent down and picked them up quietly.
Jia
Jia
You’re the new one?
Atharv
Atharv
“Yes, ma’am.”
Jia
Jia
“Ma’am? Respectful… you’re cute.”
Atharv
Atharv
“Thanks.” ( Confused )
She smiled—so cheerful, as if she had no regrets in life. The kind of person who welcomed both the good and bad with open arms.
From that day on, she came every day—twice. Her timing never changed.
Afternoon, 3 p.m.
Evening, 5 p.m.
I started waiting for her desperately. Those short meetings became the brightest part of my day.
She became my everything… the reason behind my smile, the reason I dressed well. I had never cared about my looks before, but after meeting her, I found myself standing in front of the mirror, brushing my hair, adjusting my shirt. It felt like something inside me was blooming.
She was my saviour.
My escape from loneliness.
My shield against depression.
Atharv
Atharv
My “Saviour.”
But she never knew. She was completely unaware of my feelings… and of me.
