CHAPTER 1
It was evening, I was in my room, finishing my notes when I heard my parents arguing downstairs.
I went out of my room and stood near the stairs listening to their heated argument

It has been so many years but still your mind is always outside!

*slams the table* Don't even think about getting divorce!

So what!? It's not as if I committed some crime!
It has been 18 years.. I have been enduring this ever since my childhood
To get rid of the rumours in the neighborhood, my mom even decided to change cities, but what's the point if they still keep arguing like this?
As the thoughts in my head start to haunt me, i sneak out of the house trying the escape from the mess
Even though I'm new to this city, it's surprising how I've already found my comfort place here too.. A bookstore
Not a normal one, but a vintage one
As i enter the bookstore, i notice a cat sitting on the chair
As i bend down to pet it, I hear someone's voice from behind

His name is Leo
I stand up to greet the strange boy and the cat jumps down from the chair and rubs his soft fur against his leg.

Saying that, he sits on the floor as Leo curls himself on his lap while nuzzling his head against his hand

As i was walking around the store with Nathan, I get a call from mom.

*nods* Sure. Take your time

Where are you? It's so late already.

I could tell from her tone that she cried. However, i couldn't say anything to comfort her
I walk over to Nathan and after wishing him goodbye, i walk out of the store and head back home
As I enter the house closing the door behind me, I find mom sleeping on the kitchen counter with a glass of milk beside her.
The whole living room was a mess. Broken glass pieces was scattered all over the place

You're back? Drink the milk and go to sleep

Mom.. *walks over to the kitchen counter* Didn't you have dinner?

Oh no, sweetie. I was full. *smile*
I could sense she was lying.
I looked at the closed door of my dad's room and sighed. I knew I was too young to change anything.
I drank the milk and came back to my room
I lie on the bed, and before I know it, i drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, i dressed up and went downstairs for breakfast. I found dad sitting there reading newspaper
The atmosphere was heavy from yesterday's situation
I looked over at the living room which was all neat and clean as if nothing ever happened there. I knew mom spent the whole night cleaning all the traces of yesterday's night.
I walk over to the table and sit down to have breakfast.

I finish my breakfast, grab my bag and leave for school.
As i was walking to school, someone tapped me from behind.
I turned back only to find Nathan there grinning at me
