Bound by Shadow
Chapter 1
The library was too quiet. Too still. Elara’s fingers brushed over the cracked spine of an ancient, blackened book that had no title.
The moment she opened it, the air shifted.
A whisper curled behind her ear.
Elara Vale (FL)
Who’s there? The library’s closed.
He stepped forward, and the dim light caught sharp cheekbones, eyes too dark to read.
Damien Riven(ML)
Closed to them. Never to you.
Her throat tightened. She’d never seen him before, yet something in his voice sank straight into her chest.
Elara Vale (FL)
You can’t be here.
Damien Riven(ML)
𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 Can’t? Or shouldn’t?
Elara Vale (FL)

Elara Vale (FL)
I don’t know you.
Damien Riven(ML)
Not yet. But I know you.
He moved closer, shadows clinging to him like smoke. She should’ve screamed, but her voice caught when his hand brushed a shelf beside her, only inches from her face.
Elara Vale (FL)
𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴 What do you want?
Damien Riven(ML)

The smell of dust and paper vanished, replaced by candlelight and the faint crackle of fire
Her breath hitched. She was no longer in the library. She stood in a vast, dimly lit hall, shadows dancing on stone walls.
Elara Vale (FL)
𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘥 No… this isn’t real

Before she could pull away, his lips brushed hers a fleeting kiss, searing like fire, vanishing as the hall dissolved.
