So let's get started~
The palace was filled with whispers. Nobles in velvet robes looked uneasy as they stood below the throne.
Duke Harthlow
Your Highness, the throne cannot stay empty forever. *serious voice*
Baron Estrel
Without an heir, Averna will fall into chaos. *Sighs*
Lady Corvain
But… who would dare marry the cursed prince? *muttering*
Everyone’s eyes turned toward the throne.
Prince Alaric sat there. His crown looked too heavy, his dark hair streaked with silver. He looked tired, older than his years.
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
You ask me to marry again? When you know what happens to every bride? Do you wish to see another coffin carried out of this palace? *Cold*
The hall went silent. No one could answer him.
Marquis Rynthal
We do not wish for another death, Your Highness. But… the people are restless. Without an heir, the kingdom will break apart. *Frown*
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
Better no heir than another dead bride. *Bitter laugh*
The nobles exchanged nervous glances. Everyone knew the truth. Every princess of Averna had died. Some from sudden sickness, some from strange accidents, and some simply never woke up again.
And Alaric, now forty-five, was the last of his line.
Duke Harthlow
*hesitant* Forgive me, Your Highness. But if you will not choose a bride… the council will.
Alaric’s eyes darkened. His voice dropped low.
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
You dare presume to choose my bride? *Eyes darken*
The nobles lowered their heads. No one spoke again.
A Crumbling house, Far From the Palace
The shout made the girl flinch. She looked up from the fireplace where she had been scrubbing. Soot smudged her cheeks, her grayish blue eyes tired but gentle.
Her aunt, Maera, stormed into the room, silk dragging on the dusty floor.
ELANA/FL
Yes, Aunt? *flinch*
Maera/Fl Aunt
*smirking* Your life is about to change.
ELANA/FL
*Blinked, confused* Change?
Maera grabbed her chin, tilting her face toward the light. Her nails dug into her skin.
ELANA/FL
*Whimper in pain*
Maera/Fl Aunt
The royal court is offering gold and land to anyone who can give the prince a bride. *Greedy voice*
ELANA/FL
*Froze* ....A bride?
Maera/Fl Aunt
*laughing* Yes. And lucky for me, I have a useless niece. No dowry. No worth. But still… a face that might tempt a prince.
ELANA/FL
*Lips trembled* You’re… selling me? 😢
Maera/Fl Aunt
*Coldly* Don’t be dramatic. Think of it as serving the kingdom. You’ll be a princess. For a few days at least.
Her laugh was sharp, cruel.
Maera/Fl Aunt
And when the curse kills you… I’ll be rich. I heard that the compensation money is worth a few mansions. *Grin*
ELANA/FL
...( So that's how I will die...) *Looks down with tears*

SEALING OUR FATE
Elara’s chest tightened. She wanted to speak, to fight back. But her voice caught in her throat.
She had nowhere to go. No family but Maera. No power to resist.
Her aunt’s grip tightened.
Maera/Fl Aunt
*smirk* Pack your things, girl. The palace will send for you tomorrow.
Elara lowered her eyes. Her hands shook. The bells of Averna rang again in the distance, echoing through the night.
It sounded like they were tolling for her.
ELANA/FL
( Is there no way for me to survive in this world? ) *look at the dark sky*
That same night, Alaric stood alone in the royal garden. The moonlight fell over the cold marble statues of queens long dead. His eyes lingered on their names.
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
Forgive me. I could not save any of you… *Whispered*
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
*sighs* This must be the fate of Averna...the will of the goddess.
His hand clenched over his chest. His heart felt heavy, lifeless. He had already decided he would never marry again. Better to let the royal line die than to bury another innocent woman.
But fate had other plans.
And so, the kingdom waited. The cursed prince. The orphan bride. One ready to die. One who had already given up on life.
The bells of Averna rang again, sealing their fates.

CURSED WEDDING
The halls glittered with jewels, but the air was heavy with dread. Servants whispered behind curtains, nobles muttered behind fans.
Noble Lady (whispering) Another bride… poor girl.
Lord (scoffing) She’ll be dead before the week is over.
Countess : The curse has never spared anyone. Why should it now?
They didn’t even bother to remember her name. To them, she was already a corpse.
Elara stood before a mirror in a white gown too fine for her. Her hands trembled as maids pinned a veil over her face.
Maid
*whispering* She looks so young…
Maid
2) Pity. She won’t last long. *sighs*
Elara lowered her eyes. Her chest felt tight. Every step she took toward the altar would be toward her grave.
ELANA/FL
( So this is it. My life ends here.) *bitter smile*
She thought of running. But where could she go? The gates were guarded. The whole kingdom watched.
Prince Alaric stood at the altar, dressed in black and gold. His silver-streaked hair caught the light of the chandeliers. His expression was cold, unreadable.
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
Another sacrifice… forced into this nightmare. *Expression turned colder*
He hated this. He hated himself. But he could not stop it.
Maid
My lady you have to go alone from here...*sighs*
Elara walked in slowly, veiled and pale, her aunt Maera watching proudly from the corner as if she had already pocketed the gold.
The priest raised his voice.
???
(Priest) Prince Alaric of Averna. Do you take this woman as your bride?
Alaric Caldorian/Prince
*low, firm voice* ...I do.
???
(Priest) Elara of House Maera. Do you take this man as your husband?
Elara’s lips trembled. The whole court held its breath, waiting to see how soon the curse would strike.
ELANA/FL
*softly, almost a whisper* …I do.
The priest lifted his hands.
???
( Priest) Then by the vows spoken, you are bound as husband and wife.
