Never Alone
The Beginning of the End
As a girl, I used to dream of love—the kind that blossoms slowly, turning from stolen glances
into laughter, from holding hands into a promise, from a proposal into a marriage.
Now, it's all become a dream of my inner child.
With a heavy heart and heavy gown, I walked towards a man, a complete stranger.
A stranger from an unknown city
A stranger who just happens to be my grandfather’s best friend’s grandson.
A stranger who was supposed to marry me years ago—until fate twisted the thread of our lives.
Back then, the plan had been abandoned when he was engaged to another woman. But that marriage crumbled.
They say, she couldn’t bear his temper and ran away. That’s what I’ve heard.
If it isn’t true, then I’ll discover the truth tomorrow, or the day after.
What’s undeniable is this: today, I’m being forced into a marriage arranged by my loving
parents, who never once thought to ask me what I wanted.
By now, you must know who I am.
The one about to marry an unknown, short-tempered man, in front of numerous unknown faces
---------------------------
The priest’s voice echoed in the church
Priest
Do you take Vivian as your bride?
The man, who is going to be my husband's deep voice echoed throughout the whole church
My breath caught as the priest turned to me.
Priest
Do you take Sebastian as your husband?
The kind of silence that weighs heavy, crushing.
In that moment, everything inside me screamed—No, My life can't go this way.
And yet, with a trembling voice, I whispered the words that sealed my fate.
Priest
You may now kiss your bride.
I had completely forgotten about this part. My heart raced as he slowly turned toward me.
For the first time, I saw them—his deep blue eyes.
They locked on mine, pulling me in, making the world around me blur and fade.
His hands—rough and calloused—cupped my face.
I closed my eyes, bracing for my first kiss, surrendering to destiny.
But instead of his lips, I felt his thumb press against mine, his fingers shielding them.
To the crowd, it was a kiss. To me, it was a rejection.
And just like that, he stepped back, straightened his coat, and looked away as though nothing
had happened.
I stared at him, stunned, while the sound of applause filled the church.
A perfect illusion for them. A devastating truth for me.
A few minutes later, he climbed into the limo without a word.
He said flatly, not even offering a hand.
I followed silently, hiding the sting in my chest.
How foolish of me to expect any hint of gentlemanly behavior from him.
From what I’d heard, the word *gentle* didn’t exist in his
vocabulary.
Inside, his fingers flew across his phone’s screen with astonishing speed.
Vivian
(*looking at Sebastian)
Whoever was on the other end of those messages, I silently pitied them—they were the target of his temper now.
With a sigh, I turned away, staring out the window.
But before I go further, let me introduce myself properly.
My name is Vivian. I am the owner of **XXX Corporation**, the most powerful law firm in the region.
My team of specialized lawyers handles everything—from corporate battles to criminal
trials.
To the outside world, I am ruthless, brilliant, untouchable.
I conduct all the meetings online with my camera off, and any necessary in-person interactions are always managed by my personal assistant.
Some people think of me as egoistic, heartless, perfectionist devil.
But little do they know, how I came to these traits?
Little do they know, experiences and circumstances that shaped me into who I am today.?
Little do they know, how unhappy I'm with what I'm currently doing?
All they know is that this company is owned by a successful woman.
But Little do they know if that successful lady is happy living a life ruled by others'
expectations.?
Do they know how this powerful lady didn’t even get a single chance to fulfill her own dreams?
Do they know the depressing life that successful woman is living?
Little do they, If this successful lady dream is really law?
Writing has always been my dream, a secret escape from my harsh reality.
I've yearned to become a writer, to build my own writing company where others can escape from this cruel world and find their safe haven.
Even mafia characters seem noble in books, but
in reality, goodness is a rarity.
All Other’s see is a perfectionist who demands everything to be flawless.
But little do they know,
if that's who I am or who I want to be?
This is how I've been raised... no, more like trained.
That's the perfect way to describe it. I've always lived my life according to the rules set by my parents.
I was always trained to be a heartless and powerful person, to perform powerful deeds, and to avoid wasting my free time on worthless things, which don't give me any profit, like spending it with friends like other’s do.
(laugh)
Actually, I've never had any real friends in my life.
Because, I was always too busy trying to make my parents proud, like all children want to do.
And I always longed for their praise, even if it was just once.
But that never came.
The only thing I heard from my parents was, "You have to be perfect, you have to be clever, you have to be powerful, unemotional, or else you are not worth being called
our daughter."
It always shattered me to hear those mean words from my own parents' mouths.
To make them proud, I became everything they wanted me to be.
Now, I'm like an unemotional
robot trapped inside a human body.
To the world, I am a woman to be envied.
But little do they know… being me is not a blessing. It’s a curse.
And now, I am cursed further—bound to a man I don’t know, don’t love, and don’t trust.
This stranger with the deep blue eyes, this man who pretended to kiss me, is about to unravel the life I never wanted—piece by piece.

An Hour Before the Wedding
Xavier (*Vivian Father)
Are you ready?
My father’s voice cut through the silence, flat and sharp like a blade. Irritation laced every
syllable.
I whispered, my eyes fixed on the floor.
Looking him in the eye had never been
safe—not today, not ever.
Even on my wedding day, I couldn’t risk the punishment that came with defiance.
He carried himself like royalty, chin high, shoulders squared, every step heavy with authority.
In the eyes of others, he was a noble man, incapable of cruelty. But I knew better.
I knew the truth behind the mask he wore so well.
lilith (*Vivian Mother)
Wait!
The door burst open, and in swept my mother—draped in silk and jewels, her lips painted, her
hair flawless.
A queen in her own world, with one obsession: her beauty
Xavier (*Vivian Father)
What is it, darling?
My father asked, his tone softening for her in a way it never had for me.
And you must be wondering—if he could speak so gently to his wife, why not to his only
daughter?
Trust me, I’ve asked myself the same question a thousand times. I’ve never found an
answer.
My mother’s painted lips curved into a smile that chilled me.
lilith (*Vivian Mother)
Before you walk her down the
aisle, make sure she signs these papers.
She handed a folder to my father, who barely glanced at it before shoving it into my hands.
Confused, I flipped through the pages. The words swam before my eyes until they cut deep
enough to still my breath.
My grip trembled. Slowly, I lifted my gaze to them.
Vivian
You want me to transfer my company into your name?
My mother’s smile widened, greedy satisfaction dripping from every word.
lilith (*Vivian Mother)
Of course. Did you
forget who helped you build that firm? It was us.
lilith (*Vivian Mother)
Now that you’re marrying into money, you won’t
need it.
lilith (*Vivian Mother)
We can’t let you take it with you.
I stared at her in disbelief. The company is mine.
The one thing in my life I had bled, fought, and sacrificed for.
The one thing I had control over. And now, even that was being ripped from me.
Xavier (*Vivian Father)
Are you going to do it or not?
My father’s eyes narrowed, his voice low but heavy with threat.
I felt the fury rise in me like a storm.
My hands shook—not from fear, but from the sheer force of
rage pressing against the walls of my chest.
Without another word, I grabbed the pen, scrawled
my name with sharp, angry strokes, and shoved the papers back into my mother’s face.
Her gasp of triumph rang in my ears, but I refused to let her see the tears burning in my eyes.
Let her think she’d won Let her think she’d won.
Let them both believe they’d stripped me of everything.
Because if I had built one empire once, I could build another again.
And maybe—just maybe—when I finally broke free of this place, I could chase the dreams
they’d buried inside me.
And the rest? You already know
-------------------------
I glanced back at my stranger husband.
Whose attention never strayed from the glowing screen of his phone, his fingers moving with restless speed as if even in this moment—our first
together—he was too occupied for me.
With a sigh, I turned toward the window.
The clouds drifted lazily across the sky, weightless and
free, unlike me—trapped in a gilded cage called marriage.
Uncertainty gnawed at me. What path awaited me now?
Would this new chapter of my life be better… or far worse than what I had endured before?
I didn’t know. Perhaps I never would.
But there was one truth carved deep within me, unshakable.
Married or unmarried, there was no one for me. There never had been. And maybe… there never would be.
*If I choose to live in this wide world, then I must summon the courage to stand up for myself,
even if the world turns against me.*
This is a mantra I've carried with me since childhood.
In moments like these, the absence of a supportive figure weighs heavily on me.
Everyone else seemed to have someone to lean on. Someone to share their burdens with.
But me? I was destined to carry mine alone.
I'm also someone who yearns to be loved by her own people

His turn
I typed furiously, my fingers pounding against the screen as I drafted yet another email about a business deal that should have been closed two weeks ago.
The delay was crawling under
my skin, and now, on top of it, this damn wedding.
As if my patience wasn’t already shredded enough, I snapped at one of my managers, sending a
scathing message his way.
My jaw clenched as I finally looked up—only to catch a glimpse of her.
She sat on the far side of the car, her head resting against the window, her eyes closed as if she had drifted into another world.
Sebastian
F*cking innocent face
I muttered under my breath, my gaze lingering for just a fraction of a second before I tore it away.
Two things I despise most in life:
1) People making decisions for me.
2. women who hide behind fragile smiles and innocent eyes, only to reveal themselves as gold-diggers underneath.
She is the only reason I agreed to this sham of a marriage.
A promise she made long ago to that old man—the man I curse with every breath.
If I had a time machine, I’d go back and end him before he had the chance to ruin her life.
She is a pure angel. He, on the other hand, was the devil who made her existence a living hell until the day he died.
And yet… she still honors his memory.
She still clings to his promises. I never understood it, and I never will.
If I ever dared to ask, she would simply say, “I loved him dearly. Alive or dead, he is still my
husband.”
And still… she’s the only person I care for.
The only one who has any claim on me
The car slowed to a stop in front of my house.
I pushed the door open and stepped out, not bothering to wake the girl beside me. .
For a moment, I looked back—she was still, her lashes resting on her cheeks, breathing softly.
I grit my teeth, annoyance flaring. I shot the driver a pointed look.
Driver
. M-Ma’am? Wake up, Ma’am
He whispered, barely loud enough to rouse anyone.
The softness of his voice only fueled my irritation.
I slammed the car door shut, the sound echoing sharply.
She jerked awake, her head whipping around in confusion before she blinked herself back into awareness.
Embarrassed, she hurriedly opened the other door and stepped out, her gaze lowered, cheeks faintly flushed.
My eyes flicked to her wrist—it clenched tightly, as if she were holding something back.
I said curtly, already striding toward the house.
And like a good kitten, she followed. Quiet. Obedient.
Exactly as she should.
Once we reached the living room, I stopped in my tracks, making her bump into me from behind.
I felt myself grow even more irritated by this girl…
This stranger who carries nothing more than the
title of “wife” in my life.
Vivian
--(*shit) mutters--
When I looked at her, she looked as if she wanted to bury herself right then and there, probably
mentally slapping herself for bumping into me.
I waited for her to finish her silent cursing before she
finally looked up, confused at my sudden halt.
I pointed toward a room upstairs, to the right.
She gave me a small nod, her way of acknowledging she
understood.
Sebastian
Your things will be arriving by evening. If not, someone will come to ask you about your
necessities.
Tell that person whatever you need — everything will be arranged
After what felt like decades of silence, she finally spoke
With that, she walked straight toward the room. My room.
My fists clenched as I stood there, watching her disappear without another word.
The phrase kept circling in my head, sharp and bitter.
I dragged myself to the study, tossing my coat onto the couch.
As I walked, I loosened my tie, each pull heavy with frustration.
Dropping into my chair, I leaned back, but her words still echoed in my skull.
I grabbed a pen from my desk and hurled it across the room.
It struck one of the bookshelves with a sharp crack.
Sebastian
Him (to himself): Sooner or later, you will reveal your true identity. Behind every innocent face,
there’s a gold digger.
I leaned back, trying to calm the storm building inside me.
