Chapter One - The stranger in the house.
Adrian wasn't supposed to be here. The abandoned house has a reputation - murder, curses, disappearances. But curiosity pulled him in. He wanted a story for his thesis on folklore.
The air inside smelled of damp wood and dust. His flashlight beam shook as he climbed the staircase. Somewhere above, a door creaked open on its own.
That's when he heard it-footsteps. Slow. Heavy. Coming toward him.
Adrian
(whispers) H-hello?
Silence. Then, out of the shadows, someone stepped into view. A man.
His clothes were strange, like they belonged to another time. His eyes glowed faintly in the dark, but his expression was unreadable.
Lucien
.....You shouldn't be here.
Adrian's mouth went dry. He didn't know if this man was alive or something else. But he knew one thing for certain-he wasn't alone anymore.
Ch 2
Adrian's flashlight flickered across the hallway. Lucien stood in the shadows, tall and still, his expression unreadable.
Adrian
(nervous) Who... Who are you?
Lucien tilted his head, eyes faintly luminous.
Lucien
Someone who doesn't welcome visitors.
Adrian's throat tightened. His instincts screamed to run-but his feet stayed rooted. Something about the way the man's voice echoed through the hollow house made it impossible to turn away.
A door slammed upstairs. The sound was violent, unnatural. Adrian spun around, heart pounding. When he looked back, Lucien was gone.
Adrian returned to his dorm, but he couldn't sleep. His mind replayed the encounter. The man hadn't been normal-his clothes, his presence, those eyes. And yet, Adrian didn't feel like he'd imagined it.
By morning, he was already planning to go back.
The house was colder this time, as if it remembered him. Adrian's breath fogged in the air. He climbed the staircase slowly, listening.
Adrian
(quietly) I know you are here...
A whisper ran down the hall-his name. Not spoken, but breathed.
Then, at the end of the corridor, Lucien appeared again. No sound of footsteps, just there. Watching.
Lucien
(stern) You're reckless. Do you want this house to claim you?
Adrian swallowed, gripping his flashlight tighter.
Adrian
I just... I need to know the truth.
For the first time, Lucien's expression faltered. His eyes softened-not with warmth, but with something closer to grief.
Lucien
Truth doesn't set you free here. It chains you.
Before Adrian could respond, the floorboards beneath him groaned. A dark strain spread across the wood-blood, fresh and glistening, dripping upward as though defying gravity.
Adrian stumbled back, horrified. But Lucien didn't move. He simply stared at the spreading darkness with quiet resignation.
Lucien
(low, almost to himself) It begins again.
Ch 3
The blood-like strain on the floor pulsed, thick and alive. Adrian staggered back, his chest tightening as the air grew heavy with the stench of iron.
Adrian
(shaking) What... what is that?
Lucien didn't answer. His gaze remained fixed on the strain, jaw clenched, eyes darker than before.
The floor suddenly split open with a shriek. Black hands-twisted, skeletal-crawled up from the void, clawing at the air.
Adrian cried out, stumbling against the wall. The hands reached for him, their nails scraping the floorboards.
His figure blurred, faster than Adrian could track, and he stood between Adrian and the thing clawing its way out of the house's belly. His voice was sharp, commanding:
The shadows recoiled as though burned. The hands trembled, then retreated into the floor. The boards sealed shut, leaving only silence.
Adrian flashlight flickered back to life. He was shaking.
Adrian
What the hell was that?
Lucien turned slowly, his face calm but his eyes... tired. Haunted.
Lucien
This house isn't empty. It hungers. It remembers.
Adrian swallowed, trying to steady his breath
Adrian
And you... you're part of it?
Lucien's expression hardened.
Lucien
Leave, Adrian. Do not come back.
The way he said Adrian's name-low, heavy, almost protective - sent a strange shiver through him.
But before he could answer, Lucien was gone again. Vanished like mist in sunlight.
Adrian was left alone in the silence. Alone... but with one truth burning inside him:
