Chapter 1
Lillian lived with her father.
They were living a normal life in the city... until her father suddenly fell ill.
Lillian Grace
What do you mean!?
Lillian Grace
There Is no way i can get that kind of money in just 3 months!
doctor
... There is nothing more I can do to help you.
doctor
We have given you a time limit.
doctor
It's either you pay the money for his treatment within 3 months... Or he dies.
Lillian Grace
Are you serious right now?
Lillian Grace
There Is no way I can get millions of dollars in just three months.
Lillian Grace
I hardly make 100 dollars a week...
doctor
3 months....that's all I can give you.
Lillian Grace
....*leans back on the wall and cries*
Lillian Grace
Dad...I'm sorry
Lillian Grace
I'm so sorry.
Lillian Grace
I promise I won't let you die.
Lillian Grace
Ill make that money no matter what...and I will make sure you stay alive.
With that promise in mind. She did whatever work she could get.
But even then, she didn't make enough money.
One day, Lillian came across a poster.
The poster was about an interview for a new secretary.
Lillian never liked that kind of work.
But what other choice did she have?
Lillian Grace
(There is a very low chance of me getting this job...)
Lillian Grace
(and I might even end up embarrassing my self.)
Lillian Grace
(But if it's to keep my father alive... then I'll do it.)
The next day she put on her best suit.
Neatly combed her hair and put on a little bit of make up
She wanted a professional look and that is exactly what she was giving.
Lillian Grace
*looks in the mirror*
Lillian Grace
office worker Lillian~
After a few minutes later she got everything prepared and left for the interview.
Lillian Grace
(This is it...)
Lillian Grace
(This might be the only chance I get to make enough money to pay for my father's treatment.)
Lillian Grace
(you cannot mess this up Lillian!)
Lillian walked through those doors, feeling empowered and confident in her self.
She was then led directly to the CEO's office.
She was the only one who had shown up for the interview.
Lillian Grace
(I thought there would be a long line of people.)
Lillian Grace
(but not even one person?)
Office worker.
This is the CEO's office.
Office worker.
Good luck on your interview.
Office worker.
*smiles softly then leaves.*
Lillian Grace
(The employees here are surprisingly nice.)
After the office worker was gone Lillian turn to look at the door.
She then whispered a word of prayer to god and the knocked on the door.
A deep male voice answered.
She hesitated a bit and then head inside, slowly opening the door and then closing it behind her.
Lillian Grace
my name is Lillian.
Lillian Grace
It is really an honor to be here.
The man turn her chair around and Lillian was stunned.
The man had fair dark skin and beautiful cream-colored locks.
Lillian Grace
(Rich and handsome...some sure are lucky.)
Lillian started taking out her papers and then handed it to the man.
Lillian Grace
This isn't my fIrst tIme doing this kind of job. So even tho i might look young i am experienced.
???
*puts her papers aside*
Lillian Grace
(Did i do something wrong?)
Lillian Grace
(he didnt even glance at the papers.)
Lillian sat there confused.
Wondering what she couldve possibly done wrong.
While the CEO stared at her quietly.
Xavier Haughton

Chapter 2
Lillian stared at the man with confusion written all over her face.
Xavier Haughton
I'd like you to marry me.
Lillian Grace
I heard you but why should I?
Lillian Grace
I came here for an interview sir not a marriage proposal.
Lillian Grace
I don't even know you that well.
Xavier Haughton
All you need to know is that I'm rich.
Xavier Haughton
And that this is only a contract marriage.
Xavier Haughton
If you marry me you will be treated well and you will also have access to my money.
Xavier Haughton
Doesn't that sound like a win?
Lillian Grace
I would rather be your secretary than enter into a contractual marriage with a man I just met.
Xavier Haughton
...Ha...I see how it is.
Xavier Haughton
You're not easily persuaded by money.
Xavier smiled a little and then gave her a stern look.
Xavier Haughton
I already have a secretary.
Xavier Haughton
The woman who lead you here was his substitute.
Lillian Grace
Then what was that poster even for?
Lillian Grace
Yes! I saw a poster a few days ago-
Lillian Grace
Wait it's in my bag
Lillian looked through her bag.
To her surprise there was no poster.
Lillian Grace
(I could've sworn I put it in here..)
Xavier Haughton
Cant find it?
Lillian Grace
No...I left it at home.
Xavier got up and walked around her side of the desk then stood behind her chair, Pressing a gentle hand to her shoulder.
Xavier Haughton
How about you go home and think about my offer?
Xavier Haughton
Who knows...*leans closer to her ear*
Xavier Haughton
It might even benefit you more than it does me.
Xavier whispered in her ear.
Lillian eyes widened for a second then she turned to look at Xavier.
Lillian Grace
(It's almost like he knows what situation I'm in...)
Lillian Grace
(But how could he?)
Lillian Grace
(We've only just met today.)
Xavier Haughton
I'll see you soon.
Xavier Haughton
I'll see you soon, Lillian Grace.
Lillian got home a few hours later.
She took off her heels, and stripped down to her under wear before crawling into bed and laying down on her back.
Lillian Grace
...what the hell...
Lillian Grace
(I was so confident today, but then that guy had to hit me with that contract marriage bullsh*t.)
Lillian Grace
All I wanted was a job.
Lillian Grace
Not a husband.
Lillian Grace
I don't care if it's contract or not. The only man I'll be marrying is the man that I love.
Xavier sat in his office.
He had a serious look on his face has he was staring at his paperwork.
But no matter how serious this man got it couldn't even hide how handsome he was.
Xavier put down his paperwork on the desk and sighed, then leaned back in his chair to stare up at the ceiling.
while staring blankly a the ceiling he remembered the words Lillian had spoken earlier,
Lillian Grace
"I would rather be your secretary than enter into a contractual marriage with a man I just met."
Xavier couldn't help but laugh a little.
Xavier Haughton
I thought she wouldve just accepted right off the bat.
Xavier Haughton
More like I thought she was desperate enough to accept.
Xavier Haughton
But I should've known better than that....
Xavier then glanced at a photo on his desk.
Xavier Haughton
Strong, independent, prideful, and not easy to take advantage of.
Xavier Haughton
Just like back then.
He then gently swiped his finger over the framed photo on his desk. Quietly staring at it as if remembering something...A memory he treasured dearly.
Xavier Haughton
Sebastian...
Sebastian (Secretary)
Yes sir?
Sebastian suddenly appeared inside the office.
His presence was like that of a ghost.
Xavier Haughton
Make sure to inform the employee's of Lillian's arrival.
Xavier Haughton
When she comes back tell them to escort her directly to my office.
Sebastian (Secretary)
...What if she doesn't come back sir...?
Xavier's eyes shifted from the photo to glare at Sebastian Sternly.
Xavier Haughton
She will be back...
He glances back at the picture.
Xavier Haughton
once a fish catches the bait it will realize it's too late to let go...

The only people who are left to pay are the family he left behind.
Now they will be the ones who have to suffer.
What could my parents have done for our lives to become like this?
Lillian was in her room. Browsing through job offers when her phone suddenly rang.
Lillian Grace
It's the doctor from the hospital...
Lillian Grace
*answers the phone*
Lillian's eyes dilated as she heard the voice on the other side of the line spoke.
Lillian Grace

She hangs up then quickly put on some clothes and head out.
She was lucky to have gotten a taxi as soon as she head outside.
Lillian Grace

The driver knowing that whenever he gets a request like that, Especially from a customer has restless has her, It was no joke.
The driver wasted no time and sped off to the hospital.
When they arrived Lillian got out of the taxi and paid the man extra.
Lillian Grace
Thank you so much you are truly a life safer.
The driver nods them drives off.
Lillian quickly ran into the hospital.
There she was greeted by the doctor who was in charge of her father.

Unfortunately your father had a seizure.
Lillian Grace
Is he alright now?
doctor
We have manages to stabilize him.
Lillian Grace
*sighs in relief*
Lillian Grace
Thank God...
doctor
Now for the bad news.
doctor
Because of the sudden seizure....the time your father have left has significantly decreased.
doctor

Lillian's eyes widened in shock, despair and something else.... something she could quite make out.
She clenched her teeth and started crying.
Lillian Grace
You're telling me I only have two months to find the money for my father to live!?
Lillian Grace
I don't have money like that! I don't have anything!
Lillian Grace
All I have is my father.
doctor
Although your cries are understandable...
doctor
This is your only option.
doctor
As long as you are alive then there is hope.
The doctor gave Lillian a gentle pat on her shoulder.
The doctor looked at her for a while...for a second it almost seemed like sympathy.
doctor

With that the Doctor left leaving Lillian alone with her father.
Lillian Grace
*stares at him*
Lillian Grace
*takes his hand and squeezes it gently*...
Lillian Grace
Dad... I said I'd do anything to help you...
Lillian Grace
*leans down and presses her forehead against her father's hand*
Lillian Grace
Even if it means signing a contract that could possibly take away my freedom..
Lillian stands up straight and stares down at hers father's unconscious body laying there lifelessly.
She then walked out of the room.
Outside the hospital she stood there staring blankly at the road in front of her.
Cars were passing and the streets were supposed to be noisy.
But she couldn't here a single thing because she was lost in thought.
Lillian Grace
I know what I have to do...
As if luck was on her side. The same driver that brought her to the hospital was the same driver that drove up to her.
