The night is solely calm and quiet tonight~ And the stars are out brilliantly and dimly twinkling their lights from the far distant.

I could see that much from the window of my bedroom because I am looking up at the night sky with my legs stuck up together between my circled arms on my bed.

The breeze was somewhat chilly when it came across my skin that I wrapped myself more tightly with my arms and rested my chin on my knees which were cuddled together.

And I sniffed~

Yes, I sniffed...

I closed my eyes and emmersed myself in the thought that my tears welled out by their own.

What if things could have been different back then?? I thought in my mind.

It was a painful memory that I could hardly let go... Because in that memory was a person I cherished more than anything~

But I think I messed up~

My head suddenly felt dizzy and my body felt suddenly heavy that I dropped myself on the bed and gradually lost consciousness in the midst of the serene darkness of my room..

What are those sounds?? It feels so near and real~

Howls??

Clearly those are howls~

But who are howling??

Wait... Could it be?? Those howls are~

I heard the rustles of dried leaves and the steps drew nearer as I heard. There is something walking nearer to me~ What are those?? Who??

And why can't I feel my bed??

I tried to move and my arms suddenly felt light so I dared to open my eyes that I even got dazzled by the moonlight. Was the moon this bright before???

My eyes blinked for a couple of times before I managed to get up and I was supposed to rub my eyes with my hands when I felt soft hairs on my face when I rubbed myself.

Huh?!

I heard the rustles of dried leaves again and that's when I saw a silhouette before me that frightened me for the time being.

"Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is aweful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it."

A voice?? The silhouette spoke to me????!

But how in the world??

I am confused that I stepped aback from the silhouette before me and the moon was behind the silhouette with its light as ever brighter than what I normally see it at night and it is abnormally big like in a close-up view.

"Who- who are you??"

My voice was somewhat shaky since I am knowingly hesitant to speak and seeing the figure of the silhouette before me made me even more uncomfortable. What is happening anyways?? Where am I??

Again with the voice~ He really spoke?? But who-

"Remember these and you will be you again in the next birth of the night ruler~ Find the golden labyrinth that keeps a mother flower in a fall to send across Triangle Pass and tie the lace that was once broken~"

What is he saying??? A golden labyrinth?? And a mother what?? Triangle Pass and lace?? Wait~ Who is he anyways???

"He-hey~ Who are you, really??"

I asked for another time and the silhouette suddenly moved further and away and the brightness of the moon dazzled me more that I got to close my eyes.

"I think I just had the weirdest dream ever~"

I heard the lively chirpings of birds that greeted my morning when I was awoken and I even yawned. I rubbed my eyes since it is my morning habit and simply feeling my hand made me got up in confusion and wonder.

"WHHAAAT??!"

All around me were trees and dried leaves where I laid when I slept - I think???

I got confused and saw my arms and feet... They weren't human limbs anymore???!

"Oh no~ I guess I am still dreaming??" I was in a panic and I roamed my sight around looking for a person or anyone I could talk to about what is happening.

I dared to blink a couple of times and also closed and opened my eyes and hit my head on the ground just to at least wake me up if ever I am dreaming.

But no way, I can't wake up! I am still awake though so this means I am not dreaming!!

I heard a bird and saw a woodpecker up on a treebranch above me that I got creeped out when it looked down on me so I ran away from it and dashed my way through the trees of this forest-looking place.

"AAAAAHH! SOMEBODY HELP ME!"

I yelled with the top of my voice but I felt no one that I even slipped and hurt my right front paw and I rolled downhill that I finally hit myself against a treetrunk by a river. The pain of the impact crept in my body before I got up on my feet barely able to stand up.

"Gosh~ That was a bad fall~"

I brought my sight towards the rushing river and I walked towards it barely using my front right paw to touch the ground since it hurts.

"Aaaaaaahhhh!!!"

I shouted in terror and in surprise when I finally saw my reflection on the clear rushing water.

I even shook my head but I saw the same reflection when I opened my eyes again.

"No way??!! This is definitely surreal!!"

I stomped onto the water that I regretted doing so because I felt pain with my right front paw after I did.

"AAAAAHHH!! I am a WOLF???!"

I got so carried away so I howled and I even was surprised that I did.

"No way!! No way!! I really am a WOLF???!"

This day was the most surreal day I ever had in my life. For twenty years that I lived as a simple person, this is just not what I imagined to wake up with.

"I have become a she-wolf!"

"I can't be a wolf??? How unbelievable is this??"

I was muttering to myself over and over again.

I only laid down beside a big rock on the riverside to ease the pain on my front right paw that got a small wound. I was looking pitifully at it and I felt craving to lick it at the very least.

Am I really a real wolf now??? What happened?? How did this happen?? And am I going to lose my sanity sooner??

I lost answers to my rhetorical questions and only rested my chin on one small stone. The shadow casted by the big rock because of the morning sunray shaded me on where I lay that I got caught up looking upon the shadow of the big rock that extends westward.

What am I going to do now?? That silhouette from my dream~ It was like a figure of a wolf and he spoke to me but I couldn't understand him.

Who was he??

I was still in thought when I suddenly heard the grumbling of my stomach and I knew just by the sound that I am now hungry. I haven't eaten breakfast at all. Normally, I would be early to wake up in the morning and get myself dressed for my university...

"Oh no~! Why have I been so stupid?? I could have looked for my way back home!"

I dared to get up and tried to get my right front paw pressed on the ground to walk but since it really hurts, I got no choice but to continue my way with my other three limbs.

"I need to go home~ I need to see my family~ I need to attend my class today~ I can't be absent because we have an exam today~"

I went my way and even though I was being lame, I still went further away from the riverside and away from the big rock where I stayed for a short while.

I tried to look around me at first before proceeding any further since I still don't know which way is my home. I actually don't have the clue where to start or where I am~

Then I heard a buzzing sound above the clouds and it made me hid myself through the bushes like my instincts made me do it on its own.

There was a helicopter that flew pass by above and I recognized it as a private one. I soon was able to read a name on it that spells a grocery store's name in our town so I decided to follow it in pursuit through the woods and barely able to keep my pace because, at times, I hurt my right front paw.

No matter how much pain I felt, I still continued after the helicopter and never dared to lose sight of it. I endured and I was even getting tired running across the piles of dry leaves, the uprooted trees, the ups and downs of slopes, and other such hurdles mainly common in forests.

When I went deeper in the forest glades, I only relied on the sound and continued to follow it. There were times I spotted squirrels, birds, deers, and other animals but I didn't let those distract me.

I really need to go back home~ Maybe someone can help me get back to my real self...

And after half an hour enduring the tingling sensation on my right front paw along with the breathlessness, I found myself on the road and I nearly got ran over by a truck that made me to retort back behind the trees of the forest.

I stayed behind seeing the helicopter moving away further from my sight since I didn't cross the road anymore in hesitation.

I was able to get a view of our town from below as I was on a higher elevation and I only peeked through the leaves in hiding as I saw cars and other vehicles moving on the road that leads to the town.

I felt excitement seeing that I am a mile away from our town but I wasn't able to take up courage to go there. No~ Not with this form??

I saw how the truck driver got in a panic earlier when he nearly ran over me with his vehicle. I can't just get out there and ask for help?? They wouldn't even understand me at the very least....

Or either way, people might just hunt me or kill me when they see a wolf roaming freely in town.

I guess I got no plan at all of what to do?? I ran my way to here for nothing...

I was in doubt... The view of the town urged me to go there and just meet up with my family~ But my body was frozen in place behind the shadows of the leaves and the trees of the forest behind me.

I don't know what to do. If I'll go forward or backward~

What will it be??

Why did I even turn into a wolf?? This is really never once my yearning..

"Woah~! Werewolves??"

"Yeah~ I read one last night..."

"Hm.. But I still like dogs~ I was running my imagination last night in my room that I got turned into a dog, Kaori!"

"Eh?? You want to turn into a dog??"

"Not really but I do wonder what it feels like to be a dog~ I always watch my pup, Bodyguard, when he just lie on the floor with his ears hanging loose and flat... And you know~ I want to try to be chasing! Letting your tongue get carried by the wind! Bite someone like crazy! Bark and do puppy eyes with a soft cry for a request of something I want!"

"Gosh~ Sometimes, you're overthinking in your imaginations... I couldn't complain more when you're acting like a dog when you're being playful at times too... Don't get too carried away. You wouldn't look more cuter if you become a real dog. I wouldn't want that..."

"Hahahahah~! Of course I will be the cutest if I become a puppy. And maybe I could also imagine you as my guiding pal! What do you want to be?? A Labrador?? A Great Dane?? Or something like a Husky??"

"Hahah~ Husky in your imagination.. It is my fave though... It resembles a wolf~"

After the voices played in my mind, I was caught up preoccupied. Maybe it was because of that time?? I really do love Huskies but never did I thought I could really become a wolf~

What if I don't find the way to turn myself back then?? Will my family get worried and search for me?? Will I even survive like this? I can't think more clearly anymore... I guess I just really don't know why I am like this~

But I really just want to be human again~

I was still in hiding behind the shadows when I heard some strange noises from somewhere. I became aware that something was moving from a distance and I slowly tracked where the sound was coming from.

And as I drew nearer to the source, I heard the rustling of leaves and succeeding footsteps then a sweet, child-like laughter lingered in my cuddly ears.

There must be a child nearby playing with something~

But in a forest like this place??

I kept myself leveled down and sneaked privily closing in and I peeked through the shadows that I spotted a young pup lying on the bed of autumn leaves from a short distance where I was and it was kicking and playing with butterflies hovering above it that the child-like and verily playful laughter resounded again.

"Hover~ Hover~ Purple and pink! Butterflies are pretty; they prink! Ahahah~!"

The pup was looking carefree enjoying under the hovering purple and pink butterflies that it even snatched one with it's mouth but missed and she ended sneezing. Right when she got up, she posed for self-awareness when some strange movements made light sounds from the other side. The pup was still in a moment like reading the atmosphere before she raced her way in an escape because a wolf just came out from the shadows and it chased down the young pup.

I was even surprised as well that I dropped myself lower to hide until I lost sight of the pup and the wolf.

"AAAHHHH! SOMEBODY, HELP ME!"

My cuddly ears suddenly tweaked when I heard the shout. It is the puppy's voice~

I trailed as quickly as I could and went after where the puppy and the wolf went off to. I found the pup all cornered in a big rock and the wolf was stressing his sharp teeth darting a predatory glare and pose in front of her. I didn't charge in but I recognized how the pup dodged those fangs that nearly snatched her life and the pup ran across the wolf's legs escaping for another time but the aggressive wolf caught her tail and I heard how the pup cried in pain when she was thrown to the ground.

"Oh~ Please don't eat me, mister wolf~ I beg you to spare my life..."

Hearing the pup, there was a howl that ruled the forest and the wolf was distracted by it that it ran away leaving the trembling pup that was knowingly perplexed but relieved and catching her breath.

The pup did a few inhales and exhales  before she mindfully looked around her and she tried to ran away but I refrained her from leaving when I leaped and landed in front of her sending her to a quick halt and she even tripped herself before me.

Her eyes were rounded with her velvety golden furs. She didn't surpress to growl bravely at me attempting a scare-show but I noticed how surprised she was when I appeared.

I traced my shadow over her because of the peeping light from above the trees and I noticed her sense of fear just with my presence. Her growl turned to repeated warning barks that made me commend her guts to do so.

Normally, an encounter with a wolf after an early attack from another will send anyone fretting on their feet to ran away. But this pup suddenly got herself to threaten me away with no kind gestures...

"Calm down. Can you??"

I articulated that kept the pup quiet in place and she relaxed tilting her head and giving a strange kind of a look. I only sat down in front of her and I flinched when I got to feel my right front paw to tingle once again. I forgot about it in a short while, I guess...

"You can talk too???!"

The pup shot me off an unannounced question and she suddenly sounded surprised that she lifted her head.

"What about you?? Are you from here?? What is a pup like you doing here??"

The pup began to walk around me in circle that I thought was amusing since she suddenly acted like the more decent predator between us. She gave me a chatechizing stare from all angles and her still maturing fangs, she revealed with a slight, soft growl.

"You also tried to attack me~ Who are you?? What do you want?? Are you trying to fool me around after your mate left you just now?? Or are you sending in the pack that is why the first one left and you came out to keep me from escaping??"

I felt kind of offended hearing her strange words to me. Is she attempting to taunt me??

"Look, kid. This place is not verily a suitable place for you to play around... And I am not messing with you right now. Refrain from that mate word or I'll make you not say it anymore..."

"I don't trust you... And yeah~ I am not supposed to be here but I have no idea why I am here either... I only followed the butterflies and got lost here then one of your kind attacked me from the shadows. Then you showed up and you talk~"

"I have always been able to talk... What is wrong with you, kid?? Do you think I am originally like what you see me now??"

The pup was confused and muted with my words. Simply because I was maybe too carried away...

"Strange to hear that from you~ You're a weird-minded she-wolf... I never knew wolves got their language to express in a manner I can understand~"

"Strange, huh?? And what does my ability to converse got any difference with you?? You are a pup and you can talk to me?? When did this ever happen in the human race??"

I was driven out of curiosity and the feeling of being intimidated with this little canine kid. Aren't I supposed to be her predator with my size??And to think that I will encounter a talking animal in this wild forest... Wait~ What if she is like me?? Is she originally a human child as well??

"Speak or forever hold your peace!"

I was caught up with the little golden pup who sat down in front of me and our gaze collided in this tranquility.

"Are you a friend or a foe??"
