She had come home with Alina from the university, but after dropping her off, she went to her own house. It wasn’t just a one-time thing—Alina would usually drop Zonisha home from the university every day, and sometimes she would also come in the mornings to pick her up.
When Zonisha reached home, she unlocked the door. As always, silence ruled the house. There was no one at home, a strange deserted atmosphere lingered, but Zoni had gotten used to it. She was accustomed to this emptiness, since no one was usually home at that time.
She climbed the stairs and went to her room. Her room was more like a storeroom than a bedroom; all the extra things of the house were kept there. Her room was on the rooftop—on one side, a staircase led up from below, and on the other side, there was the rooftop door.
The room itself was quite spacious, since it had originally been a storeroom, and it still contained all the old belongings of the house.
She threw her bag on the sofa and then threw herself onto the bed.
