Blood and Velvet
¹ Hunger in the Dark
The city slept beneath a curtain of mist
High above its quiet streets..in the ruins of a forgotten cathedral on the outskirts of Black Hollow..𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗗'𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻 stood alone in the chancel..surrounded by nothing but silence, shadow... and the scent of old blood
Not out of weakness, but discipline...
A test of restraint
One he was beginning to fail
His black coat stirred in the windless air, long fingers running along the cracked stone altar as if recalling something sacred..or sinful
A relic of the old world..Lucien had wandered through centuries...wars, empires, broken kings and kingdoms
Always watching from behind those ageless crimson eyes
But tonight..the hunger stirred in him like a storm in velvet
And far away from that cathedral...deep in the city’s underbelly...𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲 fed on sin
1⅕
Seraphina was all curves and flame..with a voice like silk wrapped in smoke...A succubus by blood..a heartbreaker by instinct
But this one? She didn’t toy with mortals for pleasure..she fed because she had to...because lust was her sustenance..her tether to life
And lately..something inside her had been...off
The usual conquests tasted stale
The kisses...shallow
The moans?..hollow echoes in her ears
She craved something else..something real
She was attracted to a powerful life force that she had never felt before in her life
That night she moved with no idea the other existed as her predator
But fate...or something older had begun weaving a thread between them
Lucien
*turned toward the shattered dorway of the cathedral*
Wwind howling suddenly through the broken glass above
In the distance..footsteps echoed...confident, slow..almost teasing
Seraphina stepped into the cathedral like she owned it..high heels clicking on blood stained marble
Her leather coat clung to her curves..dark hair cascading down her back like a whip made of night
She paused when she saw him
The world held its breath
Lucien spoke first...his voice deep
Lucien
come *spoke calmly*
2 Velvet and Ash
Seraphina paused beneath the shattered archway of the cathedral...The cold wind tangled in her hair, whispering through the broken stained glass above like the ghosts of prayers long forgotten
She took a step forward, boots echoing over stone polished by blood and time
He stood like a statue...regal and deadly..backlit by moonlight pouring through the fractured rose window behind him
The ruins framed him like a forgotten god
His eyes..crimson and calm watched her
Her own golden eyes flickered with curiosity
She tilted her head..smiling faintly
Seraphina
You dont look like a priest
Lucien
Though many have confessed before me
Seraphina
*walking slowly down the aisle like it was a runway*
Seraphina
I don’t usually feel drawn to someone colder than me
Lucien
*stepping down from the altar*
Lucien
You’re not cold *murmuring*
She stopped a few paces away
Seraphina
You felt it too..didn’t you?
Lucien
*nodded* I knew you before i saw you
It wasn't flirting anymore
Recognition in bone and blood
Seraphina
*looking around*
Seraphina
This place...it’s where you come to hide?
Lucien
Because when I’m not *stepping closer*
I do things I regret
Seraphina’s voice lowered
Seraphina
Do you regret this?
They were close now...a breath apart..
Lucien didn’t answer...instead he looked at her lips then her throat then her eyes again
Seraphina
You're not human
Seraphina
Then what are you?
he said barely above a whisper
The air between them shivered
Seraphina’s breath hitched...
