"Hailey, get your ass down here this minute. Don’t make me repeat myself.”

“Hmm coming mom, jeez, I just got up, and I’m not ready yet.”

“Well get ready and come down, you’re gonna be late for work, and it’s just your first day”

“Oh shit I forgot I had work today, crap I’m gonna be late, oh no, no, no…..mom why didn’t you wake me earlier.”

“Obviously because I am not your alarm and I also have work too, young lady don’t stress me this early morning.”

“Ahh!! Mom, how am I gonna meet up? My hair looks terrible.”

“Honey you look beautiful. Just grab a little something on your way, and don’t forget your bag.”

“Thanks mom you’re the best.”

“Love you too.”

I hurried out of the house to catch a taxi, I was so late and didn’t know if I would meet up on time, damn it’s my first day of work and I’m this late, I’m so getting fired.

“Taxi!”

I waved a taxi and got in, it drove as fast as it could down to my work place and left, I looked so disorganised but whatever, I’ll just clean up in the ladies’ room.

“Bang!! Oh shit I am so sorry, it’s all my fault. I wasn’t looking at where I was heading.”

I apologise as I bent down and picked my fallen properties.

“Uhmm do you mind? Try looking at where you are going. It's rude to bump into someone”

“What’s with the attitude? I said I was sorry, ugh, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.”

I finally got into the ladies’ room, cleaned myself up, and tied up my messy looking hair into a bun. It was the least I could do right now.

“A personal assistant late on her first day of work, what’s the worst that could happen?”

I encouraged myself as I walked out of the ladies’ room and entered the elevator. Why does every boss' office have to be at the very top floor?

DERRICK’S POV

“Such rudeness, can’t she watch where she is going? How is it so hard to look straight?”

“Oh come off it, derrick, she apologised, and you know it wasn’t entirely her fault, I mean, you weren’t looking straight either.”

This jerk with his ugly face, the hell is he even doing in my office.

“What are you still doing here?? Didn’t I ask you to leave like an hour ago?”

“Yea and so?”

“So you should be out of here before now, and yet you are still sitting here with your legs crossed on my table.”

“Yeah not happening, I heard you got a new PA, and she is supposed to start working today, which also means you get to see her”

“So, what about it?”

“What about it? Dude, I wanna see if she’s hot or taken” I took a pen and threw it at him as he dodged it.

“Get the hell out of here, you asshole. What is wrong with you?”

“Nothing man, I just love pretty ladies, and I seem to be so lucky as they always get to be around you for me to take.”

“You’re just something else you know that, last week you were with cindy, about three days ago I saw you and Talia kissing in your house and now you are interested in my new PA, do you have some kind of sickness that need treatment.”

“Come on, man, stop insulting me. Let me live and enjoy my life, and I told you I broke things off with cindy and Talia; nah she’s just a one-night deal.”

“Really? A one-night deal, in your house? What happened to a hotel or a club? Or…… you know what that’s not my business. Just get out of my office.”

“Not happening, Imma see this girl first before I leave.”

A knock came on the door, I wasn’t expecting anyone, so I took it to be the new PA.

“Come in.”

"Good morning sir, my name is Hailey Chester I’m your new personal assistant who will be working for you hence of today, I am so sorry for coming this late…I woke up late and couldn’t find a ride on time.”

“I see. Well, next time, try to be more punctual than this, I won’t pardon you when this repeat itself understood?” I said as I continued what I was doing, not minding to look at who I was talking to.

“Yes sir.” she replied as sincerely as she could not to sound too frightened. I stretched out a folder towards her. “Here is the file the last PA left behind. Go through it and tell me if you want to add anything to it or….”

“Shees man, give the girl a break she just started, and you are scaring her. She’s gonna be your PA, not your house help.”

“Thank you, sir, but I don’t mind, it is my work, so it’s okay.”

“Ah you are just so sweet. Call me Noah, and this scary man, who is your supposed excuse for a boss, is Derrick. Please, my love, if you need anything or he bully’s you, let me know… I’ll kill him for you, and you can come work for me instead.”

I looked up to Noah and my new PA to see their drama. “Who do you think you are calling an excuse for a boss? I own this place, and you are sitting in my property, so shut that gutter you call a mouth.”

“Oh please, stop boasting about this little thing. My company is far bigger and better than yours.”

“In your dreams maybe, and that give you the mind of wanting to kill me and steal my Personal Assistant?” This guy has some nerves to talk like that and in front of… wait a minute.

“Miss Chester, did you bump into someone earlier today?”

“Uhmm yes sir, i….how did you know about that?”

“Oh so you are the pretty angel who walked into this demon earlier, that explain why you looked a bit familiar just now.”

“I am so sorry, sir. I was trying to….” I waved at her to leave, and she turned around and left.

“This girl almost ruined my mood today, and now I find out she gets to be my personal assistant?”

“Dude you’re always in a bad mood, and it’s making you grow old. Soon, you'll start having grey hair. I wonder how Ava deals with your shity attitude.”

“Noah I told you not to ever mention that devil's name in front of me. Seriously, do you have a death wish?”

“Are you gonna fulfil it? Get your hands stained with my blood, go to jail, and rot.” He batted his lashes at me.

HAILEY’S POV

“Oh my goodness, that is the hot head I get to work for, great just when things couldn’t get any worse.” As I went through the file my new boss gave to me, a lady walked up to my desk looking at me with despise as if we had quarrel recently.

“Can I help you?” I asked as I stared at her up down. Her outfit was a bit too much…looking like she was going to seduce someone’s boyfriend or husband. What’s with the short skirt and half button top? I could easily see her bra, and I bet if she bends down here, I would see her panties, too.

“So you’re the new PA? I wonder what’s so great about you he couldn’t just pick one among us he had to hire a newbie like you.”

“Excuse me, I might be new here, but that doesn’t give you the right to talk to me in such a rude manner. Have you met me before?? What’s with the attitude? I didn’t hire myself, so if you have anything to say, how about you take it up with the boss and see if you get to work here tomorrow.” I may be new here, but I won’t let anyone boss me around, especially not this snake. Who does she think she is? The boss’s wife?

“Who are you to tell me what to say and what not to say to you?”

“My Personal Assistant who I hired to work for me and by the look of things I see you seem to be having a problem with that.” I turned my back and met eyes with my boss.

“Uhm…sir, of…of course not. I just came to welcome her to the company and show her around.” Snake.

“I believe I should be the one doing that. She is my personal assistant, after all, and why are you here really? Do you by any chance see your work mate hanging around this floor?”

“No sir, I was just bringing a file to her, I’ll leave now.”

Hmm, how cheap. She was so full of herself a minute ago, and the next, she is acting all soft and obedient…. ugh don’t tell me it’s because of him? And when did he come out, I must have been too focused on her. I didn’t hear the door opening.

“Won’t take orders from no one, hmm?”

“I wasn’t referring to you, sir, and how did you even hear that?”

“I was standing very close to you, PA, so I heard what you whispered to yourself.” This man just eavesdropped on me. How rude, and I have a name, and it’s not PA “Oh okay, is there anything you wanted?”

“Hmm oh no, just heard some noise outside, and i came to check it out.” Oh, so he was not only eavesdropping but also spying on me, creepy.

“Okay uhm thanks.”

“Yea whatever, are you done with the file?” Well that’s a very stupid question. I just sat down when that snake walked in. “No sir I just started.”

“Here go through this file and print out a clean copy. Make sure it’s in order, oh, and get me a coffee while you’re at it.”

“Sir where is the copying room and coffee….”

“Floor seven by your left, and there’s a coffee machine at the side here, just walk straight.” I went through the PA file and checked for the kind of coffee he likes and if he adds sugar or not.

“Black coffee no sugar…no wonder he’s so cold toward everyone, didn’t he say he would show me around.”

"What was that?"

"Nothing, sir." I gave him a sun blinding smile, and he simply nodded and closed his office door.

I got up with the heavy bunch of papers he gave me, into the private elevator, and down to floor seven. It's my first day, and he’s already sending me to the seventh floor. What if I get lost? Or can’t find the copying room? What? is he gonna get me fired?

“Copy room...copy room, ugh how am I supposed to find a tiny room in this huge place? This man has gotta be kidding me if he thinks my brain is made of a machine part.”

“Hey, if it isn’t my angel... and what brings you to the seventh floor?”

“Oh sir it’s you, I was just….”

“Please I told you to call me Noah.”

“Sorry I don’t know you that much to be so friendly.”

“It’s okay, love, so back to my question.”

“Ah yes, the boss sent me to the copy room but I’m still new here so I can’t find it and I’ve been turning the whole block for an hour now, he’ll probably kill me for coming late again.”

“Hmm typical derrick, isn’t he supposed to show you around or ask someone to do it, you know what, how about I do that after you get those files copied?”

“For real? I mean that would be of great help to me but I don’t think my boss would like that.”

“Come on, he’s my best friend. What can he do? Fire me? Send me out of his company, never to see my face here? Please, I’ll handle him.”

“Well if you insist, then lead the way.” Someone tell me why didn’t I sign up in his company that I had to end up here with a cold boss?

“There you go, when you’re done, let me know, I’ll walk with you back so he doesn’t eat you up”

“Ah ah very funny, but thanks” he waved goodbye and walked back to what he was doing while I arranged the files in order and started copying them.

“Hey, you must be the boss’s new assistant.”

“That’s personal assistant to you, stranger.”

“Ooo looks like he got a feisty one this time. The last one was too soft and all over him…disgusting I had to see that every time I was called up to his office.” I could tell how much hate he had in his tone as he spoke about the last girl before me. Are they all that bad just like that snake? “Mind sharing the story?” I asked, and he stretched his hand out for a shake, which I took not to look rude.

“Name Nathaniel, personality cool and friendly till you made me mad then I get really angry, I’m in charge of maintaining order in my department so when the boss need a report on something I’m the one he calls it’s like an assistant of his PA.”

“Okay I guess that works too, but how about I call you Nat for short, Nathaniel, hmm too long”

“Fine by me, so may I know you? We are going to be seeing more of each other, so you are?” A smile crept on my face as he finished speaking. He does have a point there, and at least then I’ll have one friend who isn’t a snake.

“You are a funny one, you know that? Anyway I’m hailey the new personal assistant of the boss and also your new work partner. Oh yeah am also a hot head, a lot of things and people’s personality disgust me when they are acting too much but other than that, I’m really sweet just don’t like pretenders so try not to act like a…”

“Thorn in your flesh? Nah, not gonna happen and hailey, huh? Pretty name for a hot head”

“Yeah well get used to it.”

“Will do, need a help with that? It seems to be a lot for a newbie.”

“Wow Mr cool, how generous of you to have finally noticed.”
