Episode 01
The early morning air was chilly, biting at Taehyung’s fingertips as he stood outside the small pregnancy center, its faded sign creaking in the breeze.
He clutched a crumpled test kit in his coat pocket, his knuckles white from gripping it too hard.
His heart pounded, a mix of hope and dread swirling in his chest.
The street was quiet, save for the occasional car humming by and the distant bark of a dog.
Taehyung’s soft brown eyes darted to the glass door, hesitating.
He hadn’t told anyone.. not his boyfriend, not his parents, and definitely not his sister, Eunji.
He took a shaky breath, the cold air stinging his lungs, and pushed the door open.
Inside, the waiting room smelled faintly of antiseptic and lavender air freshener.
The receptionist, a middle-aged woman with kind eyes, looked up from her desk.
Receptionist
Morning, dear. Do you have an appointment? (she asked, her voice warm but professional)
Taehyung swallowed, his throat dry.
Kim Taehyung
Uh, no. I just… I need to confirm something.
He pulled the test kit from his pocket, holding it up like it was evidence in a crime scene.
Kim Taehyung
I took this at home, but I… I need to be sure.
The receptionist nodded, no judgment in her gaze.
Receptionist
Alright, sweetheart. We can do a quick test. What’s your name?
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung.. (he mumbled)
Glancing at the empty chairs around him. He was glad no one else was here. The fewer people who saw him, the better.
Receptionist
Take a seat, Taehyung. The nurse will call you in soon. (She smiled, pointing to a row of faded blue chairs)
Taehyung sank into one, his hands fidgeting in his lap.
The test kit sat on his knee, its bold “POSITIVE” staring up at him like a neon sign.
He’d taken it three times at home, each result the same.
He wanted this baby.. God, he did but the thought of telling his boyfriend, Minseok, made his chest tighten.
Minseok had been distant lately, always busy with work or… something else.
Taehyung pushed the doubt away.

A nurse in pale green scrubs appeared at the door, her clipboard tucked under her arm. She had a no-nonsense vibe, but her smile was gentle.
He followed her down a narrow hallway, the fluorescent lights buzzing overhead.
The exam room was small, with a single chair and a counter lined with medical supplies. Taehyung sat, his hands clammy.
Nurse
So, you took a home test? (the nurse asked, pulling on gloves)
Kim Taehyung
Yeah.. (he said, his voice barely above a whisper)

It said positive. I just… I need to know for sure.
Nurse
(She nodded, handing him a small cup)
Nurse
We’ll do a quick urine test, and I’ll draw some blood to confirm. It’ll take a few minutes for the results. You okay with that?
Kim Taehyung
(He nodded, his throat too tight to speak)
He followed her instructions, his movements mechanical. When he returned to the room, the nurse was already preparing the blood draw.
Nurse
You seem nervous.. (she said, tying a band around his arm)
He gave a small laugh, more out of nerves than humor.
Kim Taehyung
Is it that obvious?
Nurse
A little.. (She smiled, her needle steady as she worked)
Nurse
Don’t worry. We’ll take care of you.
Kim Taehyung
(Taehyung stared at the floor, his mind racing)
He pictured Minseok’s face.. his sharp jaw, his warm smile when they first started dating.
They’d talked about a future together, hadn’t they?
A house, maybe a family someday. But now, with this… would Minseok be happy?
Nurse
All done.. (the nurse said, pressing a cotton ball to his arm)
Nurse
Results will be ready soon. Want some water while you wait?
Kim Taehyung
No, I’m okay.. (Taehyung said, his voice soft)
Kim Taehyung
Thank you.. (he smiles lightly)
Nurse
(She left him alone, and the silence was deafening)
He pulled out his phone, his thumb hovering over Minseok’s contact.
He wanted to call, to hear his voice, but something stopped him. Instead, he opened their last text thread.
Minseok’s messages were short, clipped.
Taehyung’s heart sank. He shoved the phone back in his pocket.

Ten minutes later, the nurse returned, her face calm but unreadable. Taehyung’s stomach twisted.
Nurse
Well, Taehyung.. (she said, sitting across from him)
Nurse
The tests confirm it. You’re pregnant. About six weeks along.
The words hit him like a wave. He nodded slowly, his lips parting but no sound coming out.
Nurse
You alright? (the nurse asked, leaning forward)
Nurse
This can be a lot to take in.
Kim Taehyung
I… I’m okay.. (Taehyung lied, his voice cracking)
Kim Taehyung
I just need to tell my boyfriend. He’ll… he’ll be happy, right?
Nurse
(The nurse’s eyes softened)
Nurse
I hope so, sweetheart. Do you have someone to talk to? Family, maybe?
Kim Taehyung
(Taehyung’s smile was tight)

Yeah. I’ll figure it out.
But as he left the room, the test results clutched in his hand, he knew he wouldn’t call his parents.
They’d never understood him, always favoring Eunji’s fake tears over his quiet honesty.
And Eunji… she’d probably twist this somehow, make it about her.
Outside, the sky had darkened, clouds heavy with the promise of rain.
Taehyung stood on the sidewalk, his breath visible in the cold.
He pulled out his phone again and dialed Minseok.
It rang twice before going to voicemail.
Kim Taehyung
Hey, it’s me.. (Taehyung said, his voice trembling)
Kim Taehyung
I need to talk to you. It’s important. Can you call me back? Please?
He hung up, his heart heavy. A single raindrop hit his cheek, then another.
He tilted his head back, letting the rain mix with the tears he hadn’t realized were falling.
Kim Taehyung
We will be fine.. (he whispered, his hand resting on his stomach)
As he walked away, the rain soaking through his coat, Taehyung didn’t notice the sleek black car parked across the street.
Inside, a pair of sharp eyes watched him, a phone pressed to their ear.

He’s leaving the clinic now.. (a woman’s voice said, low and calculating)
???
Good.. (came the reply, smooth and smug)
???
Stick to the plan, Eunji. He’ll break soon enough.
